Cherilli Academy is situated in a land away from all the normal Pokemon regions, but it is easily accessible to all. Trainers of any age are allowed to join as long as they are at least 10-years-old and have not received their first Pokemon. The Academy provides an alternative to the traditional Pokemon Trainer route. Students are given the skills they need to succeed in a variety of careers, including Pokemon trainer, breeder, nurse, coordinator, healer, psychologist, or researcher.
The students are divided up into teams based on the Pokemon regions. Trainers must work individually and as a team to earn points. The year is divided into two semesters. At the beginning of the last month of the year, there is a Pokemon battle tournament for the trainers with the highest points. In the end, one trainer and one team reign victorious.
Students study at the Academy for as long as they need. They may take the gym battle path or the coordinator path. Upon graduation, students receive a certificate that is equal four gym badges or two contest ribbons. Trainers are then able to go onto their career or start their own journey.

A young man with light brown hair sat at a desk in a large room, intently staring at a piece of paper. A Houndoom lay by the desk. The whole room appeared to be carved out of black rock. A cold and ominous feeling hung in the air. The man looked up when beeping sound resounded above him. He held down a read button on his desk and said, "Come in."
A second man stepped into the room. This man had green hair, and a Mightyena trotted by his side. There was a hard look on his face as he approached the desk. "Cole," he said, dipping his head.
"Duke," the first man grunted, "What is your report?"
"I have succeeded." There was a mischievous gleam in his eye as he smirked. "Mr. Turner has persuaded Sash to set up a competitive team system at Cherilli Academy. However, she insists that it is friendly and expects them all to work together."
Cole nodded. "Of course she does. That is how she is. But now we have a way in. We shall start recruitment immediately. Go now."
"Yes, sir." Cole turned and strode out of the room with his Pokemon beside him.
Once he was gone, a deep, dark laugh emanated from Cole's chest. "This is most excellent." A wicked grin spread across his face. The Houdnoom stood up and grunted while he watched his master. "It is almost time. Cherilli will fall."
