OOC: This thread is for Faith and Sawyer's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Faith should post first. She also has the first move. IC: It was time for the next round of the Fall Tournament. Principal Sash was looking forward to seeing another couple of great battles. She loves seeing the best students representing their teams so well. Somehow, it seemed to bring them all closer together. She waited until it was time to start, and then she walked onto the battlefield with Maya and a microphone. "Welcome to the semifinals!" Her voice boomed throughout the Battle Area. "We have two battles today. First up is Faith from Hoenn and Sawyer from Unova!" Se left the field as everyone applauded. |

Faith proudly walked out into the Battle Area. She had made it to the Fall Tournament and even earned a bye week. She was proud of her accomplishments, and she could not wait for the chance to represent her team. Hoenn had won the first Tournament, but Sinnoh had gotten the last one. She was determined to do what she could to put her team back on the map. She heard that she was battling her friend, Sawyer. She had never battled her before, though she had always wanted to. This was going to be fun. She could not wait to test her skills against her. If she did lose, she would support her friend in the championship round. Once she reached the battlefield, she pulled out a Pokeball and tossed in in the air. "You're up, Ziggy." She knew she could count on the resilient Keckleon.

Sawyer was ready for er second battle. The first one had not gone quite as planned. Actually, there had been no battle. Her opponent had not even sown up. Though she had won by default, that was not the way she wanted it to happen. She hoped there was nothing wrong with the girl she was supposed to battle. She knew if it had been her, only a downright tragedy would have prevented her from showing up. Anyway, it was on to the next round. She saw her friend as she entered the Battle area. Battling Faith would be a fun and interesting experience. Though she was quite nice, she knew better than to underestimate her. "Ready?" she said as she took her spot on the battlefield. "Come on out, Prancer." Since the Skiddo had not had the chance to battle last time, she thought she would use him for this battle. "Good luck, Faith."

Faith nodded at what Sawyer said. "I'm ready. Good luck to you as well." She could hardly wait to begin! She found her friend's Skiddo quite cute. She had never seen one of them before. She could not tell how strong it was, but she knew she better be careful. "Alright, Ziggy, use Astonish!" It had begun!
This Prancer character looked too happy for Ziggy. e would have to strike him down a notch. His Astonish attack should do the trick. He quickly moved forward to scare the Skiddo and cause some damage. He hoped a good follow-up attack was coming. Battling was all about strategy.

Sawyer was wary of the Kecleon. It seemed like its adaptability would make it tricky. She thought he had a neat special ability, but she could not remember what it was. Oh well. Her Pokemon could not dodge Astonish, but at least it did not do too much damage. Now it was her turn. "Prancer, use Vine Whip!" It was best to start off strong.
<Hello!> Prancer said excitedly to the Kecleon. This was going to be very fun. He loved running around and battling! Maybe afterward the two could even be friends. His eagerness vanished after the Astonish attack, which frightened him. <Hey, that was no fun!> he whined. Now he was going to get him back. He struck out his vines and flung them at the iguana.

Faith was not usually the devious type, but she did know how to develop good stategies that could go unnoticed by her opponent. "I was hoping you would do that," she said with a small smirk. After being hit by Vine Whip, Ziggy became a grass type, enabling him to use his most powerful attack. "Now use Synchronoise!" This attack could only work if the two Pokemon were of the same type, which they know were. She could not believe she had not thought about this until recently. Too bad it would probably only work once.
Ziggy smirked when he saw the vines coming towards him. He did not try to dodge, for he wanted to be hit. The attack hurt him, but it was nothing he could not handle. It would all be worth it in the end. He could feel the grass type overcoming him, and he knew the plan had worked. <Take this, goat!> He formed an odd shock wave and sent it flying all throughout the battlefield. He had always wanted to use that attack!

Sawyer's eyes widened in surprise at Faith's comment. "What are you talking about?" Why would anyone want to be hit? Then she saw the attack. Synchronoise was a psychic attack, and it required the target to be of the same type as the user. That's when she remembered Kecleon's special ability. Color Change allowed him to take on the type of the attack used against him. Synchronoise was pretty powerful too. It had been a good move. "I won't fall for that again. Prancer, use Growth and Tackle!" She was going to have to rely on a new strategy now.
Prancer grinned when his vines hit. Yay! He loved his vines. He blinked at the Kecleon. <What?> Then he say these weird waved in the air. <What are those?> He was not given an answer, but he was suddenly overcome with pain. <Hey!> He struggled to keep standing, his breathing heavy. He felt a little better after using Growth. He just hoped the Kecleon would not use that weird attacka gain. He ran forward with his head lowered to Tackle him.

Faith could tell that Sawyer was surprised by her attack. Excellent. Even if she could not use it again, at least she had limited the attacks her opponent could use. "Ok, good luck with that." She knew this battle was far from over. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly as she decided on her next strategy. "Use Ancient Power!" She wondered if Growth would cause them some trouble.
Ziggy laughed at the Skiddo. <That was fun.> He thought he was overreacting a bit. It was just a battle. He watched as the goat made himself grow in size. This could not be good. He was unable to dodge the Tackle that came his way. He was quick to get to his feet and jump to the side. He focused on forming energy in his hands and then sent it hurling at his opponent.

"Try to dodge it!" Sawyer called out. Unfortunately, the Pokemon were too close to each other for Prancer to be able to get away quickly enough. She grit her teeth as she tried to think of a better strategy. They only thing she could come up with was to keep using the same combination. "Growth and Tackle, again!" She wondered how many times he could grow.
Prancer did not like this little lizard very much. He seemed to be laughing at him. Battles were supposed to be fun! He wanted to tell him this, but he was told to dodge. He tried to move away but was still hit by Ancient Power. He let out an "oof" as he stumbled on the ground. He slowly got up and used Growth again. Then he turned to try Tackle. <I'm coming for you!>

Faith could see her opponent's frustration. She, on the other hand, remained calm. She knew she could win this, but she had to think clearly. It did appear that Growth would soon become a problem. She decided to try something to stop the Skiddo for a bit. "Ziggy, Lick!" If it did not paralyze him, it would at least do some damage. Every little bit helped.
Ziggy smirked at the Skiddo's reaction. This was a funny one. He tried to dodge the next Tackle, but Prancer proved to be too quick for him. That Growth was starting to wear him down. While he was still close to him, he stuck out his long tongue to lick him. He did not taste good.

Sawyer was gaining confidence as the battle progressed. Despite the earlier setback, she was now gaining ground. The Lick had not paralyzed Prancer, and the Kecleon was slowly wearing down. A couple of more hits should do it. They just had to watch out for any more tricks from their opponent. "Growth and Tackle, one more!" They almost had this.
Prancer was proud that his tackles kept hitting. They were so much fun! It did not look like the Kecleon was having as much fun as him. That was too bad. Maybe one more Tackle would do the trick. After growing again, he ran forward to do just that. <Wee! Look, I'm skopping!>

Faith knew she was in trouble now. Ziggy was wearing down more quickly than Prancer, and it looked like one more hit would do him in. She had one last crazy idea that just might work. "Just stay still!" She called. She needed to get the timing just right. When the Skiddo was just upon him, she spoke again. "Bind!" This was their last shot.
Ziggy was struck by another Tackle and sent flying back. The Skiddo was just too fast for him. He slolwy stood up, breathing heavily. He did not mind that he was told to stay still. Running probably would have been useless anyway. Righ at his trainer's command, he stuck out his tail and attempted to wrap it around his opponent, binding his legs together so he could not move and not letting go.

Sawyer's eyes widened when the Kecleon managed to wrap his tail around Prancer. This was not good! Growth and Tackle would not help them this time. There was only one attack that could get them out of this. It was risky, but she had no other choice. "Use Vine Whip as hard as you can!" This was going to be it.
Prancer was getting tired, but he could tell the Kecleon was wearing down faster. Just a little bit longer and he could win! Suddenly, things took a turn for the worst. After striking the lizard, he suddenly found himself constrained by his tail. He tried to struggle free, but it was no use. He did manage to get his vines free, and he used them to hit the Kecleon as hard as possible.

Ziggy held on tightly to the Skiddo. Hw was unable to prevent him from using his vines, though. As the vines hit him, he felt himself lose the rest of his strength. He let go of the Skiddo and fell to the ground, defeated.
Faith thought she had a good chance of winning this. However, she had forgotten about Prancer's Vine Whip because it had not been used since the beginning of the battle. This attack was enough to free the Skiddo and get him a victory in the battle. She was disappointed that she had lost, but she was proud of her Kecleon for putting up a good fight. "Great work, Ziggy. You deserve a rest." After returning him, she looked across the field at Sawyer. "Great battle. You did very well." She was impressed with her friend, and she would be rooting for her in the finals.

Principle Sash was not disappointed by the battle. She thought Faith's early plan was genius, and she thought for sure she was going to win. Somehow, Sawyer managed a come from behind victory. She should have expected nothing less from a trainer who had been in the final round of the tournament the previous semester. As soon as the Kecleon fainted, the principal walked onto the field with her micriphone. "Ziggy is unable to battle," she boomed. "Prancer is the winner, and victory goes to Sawyer from Unova! We look forward to seeing her in the final battle." It would be interesting if she was up against Paul again, but she would have to wait and see the outcome of the second battle.
Prancer has gained three levels. He now knows Tail Whip!
Ziggy has gained one level! |
