OOC: This thread is for Kiki and Gary's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Kiki should post first. She also has the first move. IC: Principal Sash stood at the edge of the battlefield, waiting for the trainers to arrive. There were already students crowded around to watch the event. "Now it is time for the semifinals!" she said into a microphone. "First, we have Kiki from Johto and Gary from Kanto!" She hoped this would be a good one with no problems. She walked to her sit to have a good view. |

Kiki bounded onto the stage with a smile on her face. She was glad her hard work during the semester had earned her another spot in the tournament. She would work hard to win, but it would not be the end of the world if she lost. She was going up against her friend, Gary, which would be fun. No matter what happened, this would be a great experience. She already knew which Pokemon she was going to choose. "You're up, Penelope!" She tossed the Seel's Pokeball in the air to release her. The water type always loved a good challenge, so she was a great choice for the tournament. Penelope put on a serious face as she waited for her opponent to appear. Gary strode confidently onto the stage. He knew he would be making it to the next round of the tournament. After this, there would be only one more battle. He nodded at Kiki as he took his place opposite of her on the battlefield. "Good luck." This was going to be interesting. So, she was using her Seel? He knew exactly what his choice was going to be then. "Spirit, let's go!" He kissed a Pokeball before releasing the Pokemon inside. AN energetic Deerling hopped into place as he waited for the battle to begin. His trainer calmly watched to see what he would learn from their opponent's first move. Kiki smiled and nodded at Kiki when she entered. "Thanks. You too." Alright, it was time to battle. She was not too worried about the Deerling being a grass type. She knew her Seel could handle him. "Ok, start off with Headbutt!" Her Pokemon liked to use forceful attacks from the beginning, so that was the way she would battle.
Penelope only smirked at the Deerling. <You're going down,> she said. She loved facing tough opponents that held the advantage because it proved how strong she was. No grass type was going to defeat her! She charged forward with her head down low to ram it into her opponent. "Dodge it!" Gary said swiftly. He remained patient when his Pokemon became distracted and was bit by the attack. "It's ok."He would just have to make the most of this situation. "use Double Kick followed by Leech Seed!" That should help recover some of his lost energy.
Spirit froze like a Deerling in headlights when the Seel came towards him. That horn looked sharp! Just as he was about to run away, he was hit by the Headbutt attack and slid back. He shook his head to clear it and then zoned in on the Seel. He turned and kicked his hind legs at her and then released a seed from his back. Kiki smiled as the two Pokemon collided. That was going to leave a mark. Her smile faltered upon seeing the vines entangled her Seel. They would not get in her way, but now energy will be transferred form her to the Deerling. She did not see what she could do about that though. "Ok, use Ice Shard!" She had to keep on battling.
It felt good to Penelope to hit her head against another Pokemon. She was about to taunt the Deerling when she was kicked by his legs. <Oof!> That was not a fun attack. She shook it off and focused on the Deerling. She as just in time to see the seed flying at her. It hit her back and caused vines to grow all around her. Ha, this would not stop her! She opened her mouth and blew ice shards at the other Pokemon. Gary smirked when the Leech Seed hit the Seel. That would help him out a lot. Now he needed to come up with a great attack. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that Seel knew ice attacks, which damaged grass types like Deerling, at higher levels. "Shake it off and use Feint Attack!"
Spirit hopped up and down in excitement. That was fun! He loved battling. Ice Shard? What did that mean? His eyes widened when he saw ice coming towards him, but it was too late to dodge. <Ow,> he mumbled. Now he felt really cold! He could get the Seel back for that. He ran forward to surprise her and attack her. It looked like the Ice Shard had done the trick. Penelope knew one more ice attack, and Kiki was going to use it. The Feint Attack even startled her. No matter. "Use Icy Wind!" They needed to win this before Leech Seed won the battle for their opponents.
<Ice is great!> Penelope said excitedly. It would be fun to turn into a part ice type once she evolved. She was training hard for that to happen! She let out a small scream when the Deerling suddenly came at her. What was that for? She tried to hide her embarrassment by focusing on her next attack. She swept up an icy wind and sent it forward. Gary felt the chill of the wind from where he stood. Maybe it had not been such a good idea to choose a grass type after all. Oh well. He was still in this battle, and he was going to fight hard to win. "Spirit, use Sand Attack and Double Kick!" If the Seel used another ice attack, he had to be ready to dodge.
Spirit shivered as the icy wind enveloped him. <Enough with the ice!> He hated being cold! He ran forward to warm himself up. When he got close to the Seel, he turned around and kicked up sand and dirt into her face. Then he continued to kick in an attempt to weaken her. Kiki could tell her plan was working. She had an advantage with ice attacks, but Penelope was also fighting hard like always. They made a great team. The only problem right now was that Leech Seed. "Ok, now Ice Shard again!" The battle would soon be over if this one hit.
<Cold is great!> Penelope said happily. When she had been wild, she loved sitting on chunks of ice and swimming in chilly water. It was so refreshing! She closed her eyes as sand flew in her face, but some still got. She was unable to dodge the Deerling's legs, and she slid back a little. She growled before shooting out pieces of ice. Gary knew that he could not let another ice attack land. "Dodge it and use Tackle!" he called out. He was relying on his Deerling's speed to get him through this one. Both Pokemon were wearing down. It looked like this battle was going to come down to the line.
Spirit shivered when he heard the growl. He liked growling himself, but it was scary when it came from another Pokemon. Still, he was able to dash off to the side and void the ice shards. <Whew.> He rounded back around and aimed for the Seel. <I'm coming!> Level: 16 Attacks: Tackle, Camouflage, Growl, Sand Attack, Double Kick, Leech Seed, Feint Attack Abilities: Chlorophyll, Sap Sipper, Serene Grace Hit By: Used: Tackle Health: Low Yellow/High Red |

Kiki gasped when the Deerling dodged the attack. This was not good. Penelope appeared too surprised to dodge herself. Now she was not so sure she was going to win. She needed to use another ice attack, but it had to be one that would be hard to dodge. "Icy Wind!" This was the only thing she could think to do at the moment.
Penelope finished her attack and looked with surprise to see the Deerling gone. She turned her head just in time to see him coming at her. She was too slow to move out of the way, and he ran into her. She shook her head angrily. This was not over yet! She turned while sucking in a deep breath, and she let it out in the coldest wind possible. Gary shielded his eyes when an icy wind blew across the battlefield. This was not good. Luckily, Spirit was still standing once it was over. This was is chance. "Alright, now let's use Feint Attack!" It seemed like this would be it. The end of the battle was nearing.
<Yay!> Spirit said when he hit the Seel. He danced around his side of the battlefield. Suddenly, a cold wind blew over him. He shivered and stood there frozen for a minute. His energy was draining, and he knew he could not take another hit. he took a deep to prepare himself for the final attack. Then he zipped forward to scare and attack the water type. Level: 16 Attacks: Tackle, Camouflage, Growl, Sand Attack, Double Kick, Leech Seed, Feint Attack Abilities: Chlorophyll, Sap Sipper, Serene Grace Hit By: Icy Wind Used: Feint Attack Health: Low Red |

Penelope was growing confident again when she was suddenly startled. The attack forced her onto her side, and she fainted due to lack of energy.
Kiki groaned when she saw her Pokemon defeated. They had been so close! They had tried their best, though, and she was proud of her Pokemon. "Nice job," she said as she returned her to her Pokeball. She smiled at Gary. "Congratulations. Good luck in the finals." Then she turned and exited the field. Principal Sash enjoyed the battle immensely. The back and forth sure kept it interesting. She did not know who was going to win until the very end. When the Seel fainted, she stood up with her microphone in hand. "Penelope is unable to battle," she said. "Spirit is the winner, and victory goes to Gary from Kanto! We'll be seeing him in the final round." She was sure that battle would be just as great. Spirit has gained three levels!
Penelope has gained one level! |
