OOC: This is for Faith and Gary's battle. Faith will post first and will have the first move.
IC: Principal Sash held a microphone in her hand as she stood in the middle of the battlefield. "Welcome to the final round of the Spring Tournament!" she exclaimed. "I'm sue we have a great battle ahead of us. please give a big hand for Faith from Hoenn and Gary from Kanto! One of them will be the new Cherilli champion." She smiled as she went to take her seat. This was so exciting! |

Faith excitedly walked out onto the battlefield. She had actually made it to the final round of the tournament. Usually she was battling in contests, but this felt different. She loved these types of battles as well. She wondered if her father would be proud of her wherever he was. She knew he used to engage in gym battles. She shook the thoughts away as she released her Pokemon. "It's you and me again, Willy." She and the Bidoof were partners, so of course she wanted him with her in this battle. They were going to win it for Hoenn!  Level: 14 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Defense Curl, Rollout Abilities: Simple, Unaware, Moody Egg Move: Aqua Tail Hit By: Used: Health: High Green |

Gary was in the final round of the tournament once again. This time he had made his way all the way up from the bottom. He wanted a repeat victory so that Kanto could remain the champions. They were the best team, after all. He found it interesting that he would be battling Faith. He didn't know her skills, but she had to be good if she had made it this far. He gave her a nod as he stood across from her. Now he had to choose a Pokemon. "Come on out, Tornado!" The Goomy was strong and brave and could definitely get this done. Faith waved at Gary. Now it was time to get started! A Goomy, huh? She did not know much about dragon types. This one must be pretty strong if he was being used in battle. She could take him! "Alright, Willy, start off with Aqua Tail!"
Willy thought that Tornado looked quite friendly. <Hello!> he greeted him. Now it was time to battle. He ran forward towards his opponent. When he got close he, he turned around and attack the other Pokemon with his watery tail. Gary wondered how this battle was going to turn out. The Bidoof looked tough, but he knew his Goomy was tougher. Faith was starting off with a water attack? Really? "Just take it, Tornado," he said calmly. He did not give out a command of his own. He planned to use Bide to start off the battle.
<Hi,> Tornado said to Willy, giving him a small smile. That Bidoof did not appear too scary. He could do this. He did not move when he came running towards him. <Hey, that tickles!> The water was absorbed into his body. The force of the attack did some damage, but it was nothing he could not handle. Faith could tell the Bidoof had strong defenses. She wondered why he was not attacking back. Gary had to have something up his sleeve. She did not see what she could do about, so she decided to just keep attacking. "Now Rollout!"She wanted to try out the Bidoof's new move in a real battle.
Willy smiled at the command. He was looking forward to using his new move as well. It sounded pretty fun as well as powerful. He curled up into a ball and rolled towards his opponent. Whether he hit him or not, he would keep rolling until his trainer told him to stop. Gary knew to be wary of Rollout. The attack may not start out that strong, but it grew in intensity each time it hit. For now, he had a plan of attack of his own. "Tornado, use Bide!" He expected this to do a good deal of damage. He would deal with Rollout after this.
Tornado hid his trembling as the Bidoof rolled towards him. Why was he not commanded to move? He shut his as as he was struck. Luckily, the normal type bounce off of his jelly-like body. Then he understood. He was going to use Bide! He turned towards the Bidoof and took a deep breath. Then he let out a white light of energy. Faith's eyes widened when she realized what was happening. "Dodge it!" she cried, but it was no use. Willy's own power was returned with the double the strength. She grit her teeth as she tried to think about what to do. She only had one idea right now. "Use Rollout again!"
Willy kept rolling about, and he did not noticed the energy coming towards him. he was knocked off his feet and fell on his stomach. Dizzy, he got back up. Whatever that was, it had drained much of his energy. He needed to make up for it! He curled into a ball again and headed for the dragon type. Gary was satisfied with the effects of Bide. However, it was clear that he had to do something about that Rollout attack. He had one idea that would work for now. "Tornado, Absorb!" That should make up for some of Rollout's strength.
The Bidoof bounced into the Goomy again. Tornado giggled even though it hurt more this time. This battling thing was not so hard after all. he concentrated on the grass power within him. He sent out a beam of energy that would take some health from his opponent and give it back to him. Ah, it felt good! Faith smiled, pleased that her plan was working. She could win if she kept this up. She was glad that Absorb was not that powerful of an attack. "Hang in there, Willy. Rollout once more!" She wondered how much longer this battle would go on.
Willy felt energy sucked out of him. He grunted, but he did not stop moving. At this point, he was getting tired. He hoped this would be over with soon. He really wanted to win and be done with it! He could sense the Goomy's presence, and he headed in that direction once again. Gary knew he had to do something quickly or it would be all over. He could not risk dodging because it might not work. "Protect!" This was the best he could do to minimize the damage done. Now he was going to have to rely on the Goomy's power to win the battle. "Use Tackle!"
Tornado put up a shield to halve the damage done to him. Still, he cried out as the Bidoof rammed into him again. Those attacks were getting stronger and stronger! He was beginning to doubt if he could win this battle. Of course, he had to do his best! His body wiggled as he moved forward to Tackle the other Pokemon. Faith could see this battle was coming to a close. It seemed like both Pokemon were evenly matched. She just had to keep this up a little bit longer. "Rollout, once more!" If the attack hit, this would be it. She held her breath.
Willy was disappointed by the light screen, but he knew the battle was not over yet. He grunted as the weird Pokemon rammed into him. His rolling slowed down, but he did not uncurl yet. He used the last of his strength to increase his speed and roll towards the Goomy one more time. Gary figured Faith would use Rollout again. He knew he could not use Protect again, for the attack would still be too strong. He had to try to miss the attack altogether. "Tornado, dodge that!" He gritted his teeth as he watched the Goomy move slowly to the side. Unfortunately, this was not enough. Tornado was it by the Bidoof, and he fell to his side, defeated. Gary sighed as he pulled out his Pokeball. "Good work, Tornado. Take a rest now." He looked over at Faith. She was a lot stronger than she looked. It was impressive. "Congratulations." Next time, he would beat her for sure. He gave her a small smile before leaving the area. Principal Sash enjoyed the battle. Faith's strategy was simple, but it worked in the end. "Tornado is unable to battle," she said. "Willy is the winner, and victory goes to Faith from Hoenn!" Gary was not going to be a repeat champ. Sash and Maya walked onto the battlefield. "Congratulations, Faith. That was a great battle. Give it up for Faith and Hoenn!" She smiled as the crowd applauded. "Everyone in Hoenn will receive prizes as an incentive for everyone to try their hardest next semester. I'll see you then!" She waved and left the stage. Willy has gained four levels. He now knows Headbutt. He may now evolve into Bibarel!
Tornado has gained one level. |

Faith stared at the battlefield in shock. She could not believe it. She had actually won. She was good at something other than contests. "We did it, Willy," she whispered. The Bidoof ran up to her. He stopped before her and grinned. Just as she was about to say something to Gary, her Pokemon started to glow. The girl's eyes widened for a second time. Had they finally achieved their goal? |
