OOC: This thread is for Gary and Asuza's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Gary should post first. He also has the first move.
IC: Principal Sash stood in the middle of the battlefield with a microphone and her Vulpix, Maya, by her side. "Welcome to the Fall 2015 end of the semester tournament!" she boomed. "All of the teams have worked hard, and we are showcasing the best. You will witness two battles today. First up is Gary from Kanto and Asuza from Hoenn!" There were several Hoenn participants today. As Sash walked back to her seat, she wondered if one of them would prove victorious in the end. |

Gary strode out to the battlefield, his head held high. He was always in the tournament because he always worked hard. The last two years he had made it to the final round, but he had only won once. Now he wanted a new challenge, so he decided to use one of his newer Pokemon. He might risk losing, but he knew he would learn a lot along the way. "Stephan, you're up!" He tossed a Pokeball in the air, and a small Cyndaquil appeared in front of him. The fire type glanced at his trainer nervously. He hoped he was up for this. Asuza nervously walked onto the battlefield, Pokeball in hand. Trying not to feel the stares of the crowd in the stands, she bowed to her opponent. "G-greetings... I am Asuza Seishin... A pleasure to meet you." She said, before throwing her Pokeball to release her Pokemon. "Tsume, Let's Rock!" She said, releasing the Fletchling to battle.

OOC: Very funny. Only I can do that. 48 hours isn't a stick deadline, and I usually give a bit more time than that. Plus I always give extra time if a reason for not posting is given (I always post asking that first and give another 24 hours to hear a response). I play Gary, so I didn't think I had to tell an excuse to myself. I can post it from now on if that would make you feel better though.

Gary looked over his opponent. She seemed nervous, but he knew better than to underestimate anyone. "Good luck," he said. A Fletchling, huh? This was going to be a bit difficult. Well, he would give it his best. "Stephan, use Tackle!"
Stephan took a deep breath and let it out slowly. That flying type scared him a little, but he knew he had to do this. <Ok then...> He put on his brave face and then ran forward. When he got close to the Fletchling, he leapt into the air to Tackle him. Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Leer Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire Hit By: Used: Tackle Health: High Green |

Asuza Smiled, then called out to her Pokemon "Dodge under it!". The Fletchling responded to her command, Flying under the Cyndaquil, Turning back just as Asuza gave her next order. "Now Growl, then Tackle!" She called, the Bird Pokemon resonding with a few cute Chirps, then flying in low to perform it's own Tackle attack. Tsume:
Level: 5
Attacks: Tackle, Growl
Abilities: Big Pecks, Gale Wings
Hit By: N/A
Used: Growl, Tackle.
Health: High Green

Gary had been expecting the Fletchling to dodge. He searched his brain for ideas to combat this. He knew he had to remain calm to come up with an answer. "Alright, use Tackle and then Leer!" This was worth a shot.
Stephan watched as the Fletchling flew over him. Darn! How was he supposed to get that flying type if he was in the air? The growl made him freeze for a second, and he was unable to dodge the Tackle attack. he quickly got on his feet and jumped again to try to hit him this time. Then he stood on the ground and leered at the other Pokemon. Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Leer Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire Hit By: Growl, Tackle Used: Tackle, Leer Health: Green |

Tsume didn't wait for Orders, At least not verbal ones. It swooped in behind the Cyndaquil, and tackled it again. Asuza was vaguely Amused that Gary had tried to use Leer. She called out to him, "You're wasting your time with Leer. Tsume has the Big Pecks ability, which makes her immune to defense decreases. Now, I doubt your Cyndaquil has the Hyper Cutter ability, so... Tsume, Follow that Tackle up with another Growl!" To which the Fletchling started chirping Cutely again. Tsume:

Hit By: Leer(Not Affective)
Used: Tackle, Growl.

Gary clenched his teeth in frustration. How could he have forgotten about Fletchling's ability? He chose to ignore his opponent's comment. He needed to think this through. There had to be another way he could gain an advantage. "Stephan, use Tackle, roll, and then lay low!" He had to try something after all.
The Cyndaquil looked up just in time to see the Fletchling come at him again. He closed his eyes as he was stuck. There had to be a way to avoid that attack! He listened to his trainer and nodded. It was worth a try. He took another running start and leapt at the Fletchling. Whether he hit him or not, he rolled into a ball and fell to the ground. He rolled a few more feet and came to a stop, laying low in the ground that was now dusty from the dirt. The Fletchling Flew just over the Cyndaquil's Back flames, Then rose high into the air. "Attack with a Dive Bomb tackle!" Asuza called out, Punching the Air and smiling. There was little chance that the Cyndaquil could get up and move out of the way on it's short, stubby legs, So this was a perfect attack method for this scenario. She didn't even notice that her Pokemon had been damaged slightly from the heat of the Cyndaquil's flames, No one probably did, since the Damage was not severe in any measure. Tsume:

Gary was coming across few ideas, so he thought he would go with the one he was currently mulling over in his mind. "Jump up and intercept with Tackle!" If he was quick enough, the Cyndaquil could cause both of them damage. It would not give him an advantage, but it might slow down the Fletchling a bit.
Stephan was annoyed with that bird Pokemon. If only he could take off in the sky! Well, he was going to do his best. When the Fletchling swooped down at him again, he jumped straight up so that their two tackles would collide. Boy, was this going to hurt.
