OOC: This thread is for Zane and Nate battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Zane should post first. He also has the first move.
IC: Principal Sash returned to the stage after a short break. "Thank you for waiting, everyone," she said into her microphone. "Now it's time for the battle round of the contest. First up we have Zane from Kalos and Nate from Sinnoh!" She had not seen these two in the battle round before, so she was interested to see who would move on. |

Zane trotted onto the stage with a grin on his face. He could not believe he had finally made it into the battle round of a contest! There was no way he would lose now. He found his Pichu's Pokeball and tossed it in the air. "Come on out, Tessie!" Nate smiled as he waked onto the stage. He was happy that he had finally made it to the battle round of a contest. He was sure to do his best with the help of his Pokemon. Zane waved at Nate across the field. "Good luck!" He found the psychic type to be fascinated. Too bad he had to battle him. "Okay, Tessie, let's use Thunder Shock!"
Tessie smiled as she revved herself up. This was going to be good! She had always wanted to be part of a contest battle. <Hi there,> she said to the Solosis. <Let's have fun,> She focused on appearing cute as she gathered her electricity. Nate nodded. "Thanks. You too." He knew better than to underestimate the Pichu. She was Zane's partner, after all. "Echo, use Reflect followed by Psywave!" He hoped this combination would look good for the contest.
<Yes,> Echo said. <Let's.> He pulled upon his psychic energy as soon as the Pichu began her attack. An invisible wall appeared before him, limiting the effectiveness of the Thunder Shock. Then he shot out a pretty pink wave of psychic energy. Zane's eyes widened in surprise at the psychic type's slick moves. "Wow, that was cool," he said. He had to remember he was in a contest. Looks were everything. "Alright, use Charm and then Thunder Shock again!"
Tessie frowned in disappointment. Why was that screen in the way? She yelped as a weird squiggly line came flying at her. She barely had time to recover before she had to move again. She first focused on making herself look cute. Then she released another bolt of lightning. Nate thought quickly about his next move. Reflect would be in effect for several more moves, which was good. He decided to wait to use his next attack. "Psywave, again!"
Echo held up his shield once again. The Thunder Shock caused him to shiver, but at least he was still standing. He moved back and forth on the stage while he prepared to use Psywave once more. Zane knew it would take some time for that mirror wall to fade away. No matter. He could make his own moves look good while he waited. "Tessie, Thunder Shock and Tail Whip!"
Tessie shielded her face with her paws. <Is that the best you can do?> She took a deep breath and then used her tail to lift herself in the air, where she then used Thunder Shock. She did a flip in the air and waved her tail around while she fell to the ground, landing on her feet. Nate decided now was the time to switch things up. He had to look good in front of the audience, after all. "Now let's use Rollout!"
Echo again felt a minor shock that as lessened from his reflect. He had to admit, the Pichu looked good. He knew he had to look good too if he wanted to win. He got down low and started to spin his body while he moved in the direction of his opponent. Zane was relieved to see something a little different this time, and he had a plan to counteract it. "Tessie, jump up and use Thunder Shock!"
Tessie watched the Solosis carefully. When he spun towards her, she used her tail to leap into the air, dodging the attack. Then she let her electricity loose, hoping it would strike. Nate was disappointed that his attack had missed, but he knew he would have another shot. "Alright, try Rollout again!" He had to get this ball rolling since Reflect would fade soon.
Echo did not stop spinning even when he was struck by a spar of electricity. He zeroed in on his opponent and rolled towards her even harder. Zane wondered how he could get that ball to stop moving. He had only one idea. "Tessie, try to use Volt Tackle!" It was a risky move, but it just might work.
Tessie grew dizzy trying to follow the Solosis. She soon focused her energy on her electricity. She ran forward and let it form around her body. The two of them were about to collide! Nate blinked in surprise when Zane called out his next attack. How did the little Pichu know a move like that? At least Reflect was still in effect, minimizing damage. "Rollout again!"
Echo held up his mirror once more. His wall finally cracked, and the Pichu struck him hard. He was starting to feel dizzy now. After recovering, he got right back to rolling. Zane grinned as he watched his own move unfold. He really loved that attack, and he hoped the judges like it as well. "Now Thunder Shock!"
Tessie felt the blow back from her move, and she paused in order to catch her breath. She did not see the Rollout coming, and she was struck head on. She took another breath and then prepared her Thunder Shock. Nate glanced at the clock. He was running out of time, so he had to make this next move count! "Hang in there, Echo. Use Rollout again!"
Echo's success felt short-lived. Just after he struck his opponent, she struck him with a surge of electricity. He shivered as he regained his focus. Time for another round! He rolled on the ground towards the Pichu.
