M i s s R i v e r t o n She was pumped. She was so pumped. She was gonna show these kids how psychology affected pokemon-human interactions exactly this day! She intended to her first unit on trainer-pokemon bonding, so today’s example would be the absolute most effective. Having put a piece of paper and a bottle of non-toxic ink on every desk, the teacher went to sit at her desk. Her tyrogue still scrubbed his own feet. A set of papers with his and his owner’s foot prints, the prime examples for the class, sat upon the teacher's desk. He really adored Ms. Riverton, but he much preferred to when they were both black and blue from fighting rather than playing with ink. She looked back at her roll sheet. Nate Kerston, Iason Xanthopoulos, Micah Allen, Dawn Berlitz, Rae (did this kid have a last name?), and Walter Satinwood would be in her class. ”They’re probably all good kids,” Miss Riverton quietly enthused. ”Yeah… we’ll explore the real final frontier together--the mind!!” Despite sitting, her passion was quite clear. Foot finally clean, her tyrogue dropped his paper towels in the trash and threw a final look to the board which had the instructor’s name and what class it was.

Rae entered the classroom, his eyes roaming over the empty seats that awaited his selection. He gave a quick glance toward the female and the... creature, who were... Rae shook it off and headed straight for the front row of desks, moving to the dead-center and taking his seat.
He already knew he was the most ignorant and uneducated of all the trainers who attended Cherilli, but all that was about to change. Being at the bottom, there was only one place to go and Rae was already well prepped to go surging past everyone and obliterate the mold in his ascent.
"Mornin'" he said in a raspy, cigarette-starved tone.

Dawn still felt kind of sickly. She hadn’t even bothered to fuss over her hair this morning. Wearing what probably passed for another person’s everyday outfit but was below her normal level of effort for apparel, she walked into class. She held Marco, craving warmth and pretty peeved that she even had to be up. God, she couldn’t breath.
Walking into the classroom, Dawn was aware how her stuffed nose was going to make her sound. So, she merely nodded to Miss Riverton and, upon seeing Rae, grinned at him. Not feeling inclined to talk to anyone for once or even have anyone interact with her, she picked out a seat in a corner at the back. She shrugged her backpack off clumsily and leaned over Marco. Warm!

Coming to class Walter had made sure he looked his best today. His hair was combed and style neatly. His outfit was all him. Black jeans, with a white shirt and a purple suit like jacket over top. Before he walked into the classroom he made sure his signature pink tie was straight. Upon entering the room he pulled something out of his backpack and placed it gently down on the teacher's desk. "For you." He said in a charming voice as he flashed both her and her pokemon a smile. Leaving to find a seat he at in the first row, three seats away from Rae on the side closest to the windows.
The items he had placed on her desk as a single purple lavender, beautiful and divine and a yummy looking pokeblock. The flower was of course for Miss Riverton and the pokeblock for her pokemon. Yes, Walter had came prepared to day. Prepared to charm and try his best.

Nate chose to take his Charmander Blaise with him to his next class. He thought this was one that the fire type would enjoy. The class was important for the trainer as well. If he wanted to become a top Pokemon breeder, he had to understand how the minds of Pokemon operated. He would have taken the class before, but he had had no room in his schedule. The Charmander appeared a little nervous as he walked beside him, his flame-lit tail swinging from side to side. Nate smiled down at him. "Don't worry," he said. "Everything will be fine."
When they entered the room, he found that he did not recognize anyone. Perhaps they were all new students. He gave the teacher a nod before finding a seat in the front of the room in the middle left. Blaise stood beside his desk. There was now a curious look on his face as he examined the occupants of the room. He wondered if anyone would like to say 'hi.'

The smoker had noticed Dawn enter earlier, but she looked a little worse for wear and headed to the back of the room. He decided he'd catch up with her after class maybe and see how she was doing. Slouching in his seat a little, Rae found a comfortable position and checked toward the door every so often when he heard students passing by the room.
The next to enter, was a boy who was dressed pretty sharp. Rae eyed him only briefly, before looking down at the blank piece of paper on his desk. He didn't care for brown nosers, but to each their own...
Rae had noticed the bottle of ink atop his desk, beside the paper, but didn't have any sort of traditional pen to dip in it. Luckily, he always carried his trusty king-size permanent marker with him and he whipped it out for a bit of doodlin'.
Sometime later another male entered the room. This one had a familiar-looking creature at his side. Rae had seen one just like it up at the lava caves with Randy. His memory carried him off on a reply of that grand adventure, before he blinked his eyes and was transported back to the present moment. He noticed the kid taking a seat nearby and his little, orange pal standing quietly beside the desk.
Rae shot a glance to one side, where the sharply-dressed kid had found a desk and then to the other, where this new kid and his pokemon were. He wondered if he could lean far enough over to spark up a cigarette on the lizard-thing's tail, without actually having to leave his seat. While he was sure the teacher wouldn't approve of him smoking in her class; it was a fun thought.
Gradually, Rae's eyes lifted from the creature to the boy. "Sup buddy?" he greeted quietly. "...doubt all these seats'll fill up. Your little pal is free to sit here if he wants," Rae offered, his free hand patting the empty desk between he and the kid he was speaking to. Having extended his courtesy, Rae went back to drawing on his paper.

Blaise had been quietly observing everything around him -except the boy who spoke nearby. He flinched, startled. Then he looked at the guy and smiled at his words. He seemed friendly. He wondered what kind of Pokemon he possessed. Without waiting for his trainer's response, he scrambled up onto the chair between the two students. He grinned as he looked around from his new height. This was kind of cool.
Nate nodded at the boy who spoke to him. The Charmander did seem happier sitting at the desk and feeling like part of the class, so he allowed him to do so. "Thanks," he said in a quiet voice. He noticed the boy return his eyes to his own desk, and he appeared to be drawing something. Usually Nate would leave people alone, but since the other had been the one to break the silence between them, he decided to let his curiosity get the better of them. "What are you drawing?" The question held innocent interest, and he would nto be offended if he preferred not to answer.

Rae's face showed a deep level of concentration as he put the finishing touches on his little doodle. He then turned to the boy and thought about it, before finally holding up the paper and showing him what he had drawn... The smoker had worked exceptionally hard on it, so he hoped they wouldn't laugh. In Rae's eyes, it was a pretty good likeness of the orange, tailed-creature. Though, he wasn't sure how his black marker had produced the other colors? Maybe this was a special kind of paper or something that changed colors when heat was applied? From the amount of friction his hand had applied while drawing, Rae could definitely see it as possible. Then again, in this wild world of magical creatures with their tails on fire; it seemed that anything was not only possible, but probable. "Do you like it?" Rae asked at last, smiling softly in hopes they would...

Blaise was surprised to see that the drawing was a picture of a Charmander, most likely him. He felt flattered that the guy had found him interesting enough to draw him. He grinned as he looked it over. <It's great!> he said excitedly, clapping his claws together. And he meant it too. He thought the boy was very skilled at drawing.
Nate smiled at the drawing. He recognized it as his little Charmander. He thought it was pretty good for the several minutes the guy had been working on it. The colors seemed to be about right. He found the picture to be pretty cute. He nodded in approval. "I do like it. It's good. I'm Nate, by the way. My Charmander's name is Blaise."
On cue, the Charmander waved his small claw at the boy. <Hi!> He liked him already. He hoped they could all be friends.

Miss Riverton nodded in greeting to smoker. Hm… no pokemon on him, nothing to judge by. However, the next girl had a vulpix. Hm, that said a number of things about her, but nothing definite. Their closeness and comfort with each other also said a few things about their bond.
The teacher was a bit taken back by Walter’s gift. Normally, students gave apples. Grinning all the same, she positioned it just so on her desk before beaming at the brunette. Brownie points, indeed. Sport the tyrogue was a bit more hesitant, but plucked up the pokeblock all the same. Chewing, he hummed in light approval.
Yet another student walked in, this one with a charmander. She’d seen him before. Nate Kerston, if she recalled right. She marked his name on the roll and decided to play a quick game of match-the-name-to-the-face. There was a theory going around that names reflected on their owners, after all!
... and, the brunette is… Iason? Micah? Hm, maybe Walt-- That’s when she saw it. Rae doodling. ”What are you doing?! That’s not for drawing on! At least, not like that!!” Ah, yes. That was when they were going to figure out they had a very, very high strung teacher. Standing, Miss Riverton shot Rae a very intense glare.
However, she was merely high strung, not totally harsh. ”Dude, not cool. You really gotta wait for instructions, okay--uh, what’s your name, anyway?” If/When he supplied his name, she would continue. ”Yeah, we’re using that and the ink for our first project. You can keep drawing on that piece, I guess, but those pages are specially made to be thick enough to soak up ink without leaking.” She frowned, clearly upset. That was gonna eat into the school budget if she didn’t make it clear that the purpose of the pages was for.

"Hm? Oh me? My name's... Jason," he mumbled, trying desperately to remember his nightmare roommate's last name, in order to make his lie more believable. If he was already getting in trouble, he sure as s@#t didn't want to go around giving her his real name. If Jason got the bad reputation, then Rae could always show up to class next time with a clean slate and stay on the teacher's good side! He smiled politely at the teacher, before his eyes fell back to the doodle he had been working on. He turned his head, looking over at Nate and Blaise, giving them a head nod of acknowledgement. Rae then proceeded to go back to doodling for one more moment, before he finally finished the picture. Once he was done, he turned back toward the orange-lizard and leaned toward him, extending the picture his way. Nothing had been changed to the sketch of the charmander itself, but Rae had simply added a special note to personalize it for his new friends. And also... admittedly, to help sell his lie even more... Once he had passed the gift along, he turned his attention back to the woman at the front of the class. "So teach' what's on the menu for today?" Rae asked. He was eager to get some edu-ma-cation going and learn all he could about Pokemon.

Nate looked at the teacher in surprise when she scolded the student near him. Oh, he had not even considered that the paper was to be used for class. He had not taken much notice of it or given it much thought. At least she did not appear too angry. Hmm... His name was Jason? That was good to know.
Blaise reached out and grabbed the drawing with his claws when it was handed to him. Ooo... He thought it was very nice. He grinned as he looked at the picture. <Thanks!> He was glad he had seemed to make a new friend already. He could not wait for what the class had in store. He held the drawing out to his trainer for safe keeping.
Nate smiled slightly as he took the drawing. He carefully stored it away in his backpack. This... Jason... seemed nice enough. He wondered which team he was in. He supposed he could find out later. He glanced at Miss Riverton when he asked what they would be doing today. He was curious about that as well.

This Jason kid seemed alright. But, he wasn’t on her roll. She frowned. ”... are you sure you’re in the right class?” At that moment, the bell rang. Miss Riverton sat down. ”Alright, class. Let’s get started! I’m Miss Riverton and today is your first session of pokemon psychology, level one!” She moved her sheets around, getting ready to take the roll. Hm, yeah, no Jason. There was an Iason, but those names seemed as if they had completely different origins.
”Mr. Jason? You might wanna visit the principal’s office. I belive there’s been a mistake on your class schedule,” she warned. Moving on from that, she began chirping out everyone’s name. ”Now, be sure to tell me if I say your name wrong, okay? Raise your hand when you say here! Nate Kerston? Iason--oh, pardon me, I might mess this up! Iason Xanthopo-luss, Micah Allen--what a nice name! Where’d your parents find it? Dawn Berlitz? Is that right, did I say that right? … Rae? Why isn’t there a last name here…? Oh, oops, that may be a cultural thing! I’m sorry, I’m not trying to insult anyone’s heritage! Aaaand, Walter Satinwood. Hm… I think I’ve heard that name before. A business, maybe…?”
She was eager to get on to the next part. Today’s exercise was going to be tons of fun and a nice introduction to how the minds of pokemon worked.

Rae's eyebrow lifted slightly when he heard his own name, as well as the names of all the others in the room. He glanced back at the blue haired girl when he heard Dawn's name called, wondering how she was doing all alone in the back of the room.
He was tempted to fess up, but the teacher had suggested he take a trip to the principal's office to clear up this apparent, misunderstanding, with his schedule. Say no more, Rae thought, already standing up and looking to be sure he had everything. Any excuse to go have a quick smoke break, was one he was going to take full advantage of.
Sure, he'd come back in a few, but only after he had satisfied his craving. "Oh yeah, sorry 'bout that teach, I'll head over there right now and see what the deal is..." he responded finally, before giving a look toward the orange, fire lizard and the boy who appeared to be his trainer. "Blaze, Nate," he said in parting, before turning and heading for the door.
When he reached the threshold, he turned and gave the room and the teacher one more look. Ms. Riverton seemed nice enough and Rae was sure she could teach him a great deal about Pokemon. He was excited to learn, but first, he would tend to his addiction. By the time he finished his ciggy and made his way back to this classroom, surely he would come up with some excuse for the fake name he had given. Perhaps it was just, his nickname? And when the teacher had called out Rae, he simply hadn't heard...
Disappearing from the doorway and heading off down the hall, Rae whistled as he walked. Next stop; smoke town.

Crap, was that Walter? Crap, crap, crap. Dawn looked like crap. She slumped down further in her seat, praying that she wouldn’t be noticed or acknowledged. She kept quiet through the small intro-events of the class. Where’s Iason and Micah? she wondered. She considered ratting out Rae, but that wasn’t cool. She’d hate it if someone did it to her. So, she kept her mouth shut and put her head down on the desk, Marco squirming around to sit on her back.
Raising her hand, Dawn mumbled a reply to the roll call. ”Here. Yeah, you got it right…” Ugh, where was her energy?
