With the school year having already been under way for a full semester without her, Usoa felt she had a lot of catching up to do. Luckily for her, her pokemon didn't mind the training, even if was was just jogging around the park. The green haired teen wasn't sure if it was the type of pokemon she had, or what, but the Espurr seemed to be in tune with her. Or well with her steps anyways. Not really traveling as super fast speed, the trainer choose to go at more of a brisk walk then a true jog. Every now and again her speed would up to a jog and her pokemon would seem to match her. Of course at a fork in the road Usoa went left and Claire went right, but the pokemon soon spun around and ran back in place next to her trainer. Smiling, Miss Valora let a small, but harmless giggle leave her, an action that the Physic type just smiled at. Now all the while, Usoa kept an eye out for possible wild pokemon who might want to battle, or even join their team without a battle. Jogging partners where always fun after all. Still the girl was thinking about her next pokemon. Having Claire and Bud was nice, but Bud didn't really count as her first caught wild pokemon. As he blew into her, and knocked himself out. Oh, the poor hopeless klutz. She had tried to get him to join them out of his pokeball, but with a slight breeze in the air, he wasn't having any of that. "Words."

A rather confident Eevee lived in the park. He took it upon himself to patrol it, looking for trainers who were up to no good. There were always humans around trying to raise a ruckus, and he would have none of it! Though he was not that strong, he had the courage of all of his evolved forms put together. He was currently marching around the park when he saw a girl and an Espurr jogging straight toward him. Instead of running away like any other wild Pokemon would, he stepped right out in front of their path so they would have to either stop or go around him. He hoped they would choose the latter. His hackles raised as he growled at them menacingly. <You shall not pass!>

Jogging was fun for Usoa, but it seemed after a while Claire found it rather dull. Then again give her another ten minutes and Usoa would be on the same page as her purple colored pokemon. In all truth the green haired teen hoped they come across a pokemon. Maybe a Fletchling like they have in Kalos, or a Pidgey, what she hadn't expected was for the fawn colored fox to stand in their path and block them from passing. "Oh, whoa!" Usoa said as she quickly stopped, moving her arms wildly as she tried not to fall on her face. Luckily for her her pokemon stopped her from face planting. Pulling out her pokedex she quickly looked up what pokemon was before them. Miss Varlora had an idea, but when that idea was made a fact the young woman grinned. "Hey Eevee what is up?" She asked in a friendly voice as she looked at the normal type who could evolve into so many different things.
Looking at Claire who looked ready to take on the pokemon, the teen just nodded her head. "Okay, well if you don't want to let us pass, then Eevee we challenge you to a battle! What do you say?" The girl called out, as she moved back from the wild pokemon. Giving it a few moments she already knew she wanted to catch Eevee, and was excited about her first battle, but perhaps Eevee didn't want to battle? Nonsense it was a pokemon, and if she was gonna be a pokemon master she had to battle. Oh dear she sure hoped things worked like that. "Alright Claire, lets start are first battle, now I want this good and clean you here?" She questioned her pokemon, before calling out what she wanted her to do. "Now use your - Leer!" The girl called and watched as the purple pokemon took to staring at the other Pokemon as she attempted to use a good and scary leer. "Then give 'em a taste of your scratch!" She called out moving her hand quickly for effect. With that Claire moved forward, her claws a glow as she attempted her best with using her first ever stretch attack in a real battle.

The Eevee did not back down at the girl's friendly greeting. It looked like the Espurr wanted to battle. Fine. That just proved they were up to no good. He would show them. He never backed down from a challenge. <Alright,> he said haughtily as he prepared to fight. He did not tense when the Espurr leered, but he also did not try to dodge her Scratch attack. He thought is was not noble to dodge in a battle. He preferred to take damage with honor. When the psychic type backed off, he ran forward to Tackle her.

Seeing the pokemon accept her, accept there challenge to battle Usoa smiled. In her eyes a fire lit, and she was ready for her first pokemon battle with a wild pokemon. Well her first battle in general really. "Alright here we go!" She called out as she watched the battle take place. Pumping her left fist she cheered, "Yes. Go Claire!" When the Espurr made a hit. "Whoa watch out!" The teen tried to warn her pokemon, but it wasn't a fast enough warning as the Eevee's tackle landed and the purple pokemon went flying to the ground.
"You okay?" She asked in a worried tone as the pokemon got up and stood strong. "That's the spirit, now used scratch ones more," Said the green haired girl. As she stood there watching it was clear that a passion and a want to be great was shining through. Even if she had no idea what she was really doing and was just winging it. Blue eyes watched with excitement as the Espurr's claws started to glow and the pokemon ran towards the normal type ones more.

The Eevee was proud that his attack had hit. He was too busy feeling good about himself to notice that the Espurr was attacking. He held in a wince when he was struck again. While he still did not want to dodge, perhaps it would be good to change up his own attack strategy. He darted back and forth as he ran towards his opponent. At the last second, he skidded in the dirt, sending sand and dirt flying at the psychic type. Then he ran around her before attempting another Tackle.

Watching Usoa had to give the Eevee credit, he sure at least looked like he knew what he was doing. Still she felt bad for Claire, and she really wanted to win. Having her first, no having their first win would be awesome. Plus she was hoping to catch Eevee, oh she could just seem him know as a strong and brave pokemon evolving into a Slyveon, the most prefect fairy pokemon. "Your doing good Claire, just try your leer. Stare him down." She called out to her pokemon who did has told. She narrowed her eyes and kept them trained on the fawn colored pokemon. Trying to look like she was all business as the pokemon zig-zagged around. However, that left her wide open when the other started kicked dirt into her eyes. Aaa. EEeekkk! Usoa squeaked. "Claire, try to get away, use scratch!" The girl called out as the purple pokemon had already moved off and went charging after the other pokemon her claws a blaze. Reaching her hand out she attempted to land the scratch attack before she was tackled. So was the plan anyways, but she was unsure if she had succeeded or not when she was thrown backwards from the other Pokemon's tackle. "That is okay, you are doing good Claire. And Eevee you are awesome too. Such an intelligent and brave one you are." She cooed hoping to sweet talk the pokemon some.

The Eevee did not expect the Scratch he felt just before colliding with the Espurr. He took a moment to readjust himself after that surprise. Ok, maybe he could try to dodge now. He could feel his energy waning, and he did not like it. There was nothing noble about losing. At the trainer's words, he turned towards her and puffed out his chest. <Why, thank you. Of course I am.> Maybe she was not so bad if she recognized his natural talents. He still needed to win, of course. Flattery would not cause him to go easy on her, though it would make defeat slightly more bearable. Before attacking, he turned around and waved his tail. Then he prepared to try out another Tackle. This was so exhilarating!

At least one of the two was watching the Eevee and as he wagged his tail Usoa found her heart melting a bit more for him. "Oh! You are just so cute!" Her voice echoed out, but Claire hadn't been paying any mind to the fox, but rather to her trainer and hadn't seen the tail whip. Looking back at the Eevee she had a brow raised and a confused look on her face. <What?> She asked, before noticing the wild pokemon charging. <WHOA!> She said quickly as she attempted to get out of the way, but the left her trainer was thinking of and the left she went where two different things. "Dodge it! Go left! NO! Your othe-r left." Being thrown across the area, the purple pokemon hit the ground and got a face full of dirt. Pushing herself up she eyed her trainer for a quick moment before following orders. "It's okay. Shake it off and use scratch." The green haired teen called out and watched as Claire made her claws go a glow again, before running towards the pokemon from the right, only to change course almost at the last moment and zig to the left before running faster in a semi circle in hopes of coming up on the same side as the wild pokemon in case he tired to dodge her attack.

The Eevee held his head up high after his successful attack. <That's how you do it.> He thought this was going pretty well. He still had some work to do, but the Espurr did not have the advantage over him. He would just have to hang in there in order to pull through at the end. His eyes followed his opponent as she moved back and forth. He became dizzy, so he tried to look away. Unfortunately, he was hit by another Scratch, causing him to flinch. <Hey!> he growled. He spun and began to run toward her again.

This battle was pretty evenly matched, Usoa was guessing that the Eevee was at least a level higher then Claire, but the Espurr seemed to be hanging in there. It really could go either way for them, and could be anyone's match. Still she hoped that the Eevee even if it wins would join her team. They could be amazing, together, bring out each other's inner strength and power. "That's it Claire!" The green imp almost sung in a cheer to her pokemon. <All the other pokemon must call you speedy.> Claire commented to the Eevee on how fast he seemed to me. Then they both watched as he started to charge her again. "Wait. Right...now!" The order was heard and as the Espurr waited for the order to move she stared down the wild pokemon using leer all on her own. When it was close and the order came she moved to the right, quickly and within an inch of being hit just barely escaping the attack. "Good job use scratch" Claws a glow again, the Espurr was getting a bit tired, but wanted to make sure this one counted. Racing after the normal type she raised her claws up high and jumped slightly as she brought them down in an attempted scratch attack.

The Eevee flipped his tail at the Espurr's compliment. <yes, they do,> said. How had she known? It must have been an obvious trait. He smirked slightly to himself. Unfortunately, despite his speed, his opponent managed to outdo him. He whipped around so he could try to do the same. He tried to run, but the Espurr hit him with another Scratch. He took a moment to recuperate. He knew he was losing energy, and he had to end this. This time, he decided to go straight for the kill. He ran at the psychic type to ram into her with another Tackle.

This was getting serious. Well, wait no it had always been serious. It was just Usoa was really getting into it. It was as if she was one with her pokemon. She could feel Claire's pain, and she herself was feeling tired. She was sweating, and where as she could blame it on jogging, she wasn't sure if it was from that or not. Watching as the Espurr and the Eevee battled, she could hear them talking. It was odd how pokemon simply said their name and it meant many different things. Pokemon where such interesting creatures hopefully in time she learned to understand them. Or maybe as a Psychic type Claire will later learn a move that would allow her to understand her pokemon in her head or something. That would be cool, but she has never known of such a thing happening. Well other then some odd thing Lapras does that is. "Come of Claire just hang in there! You're doing great!" Usoa cheered as she saw the Espurr take the full force of the tackle. There had been worry in Usoa's voice, but Claire stood up after a few moments. She was tired, but she had the will to keep on battling. "That's a girl! Now give another scratch!" The green imp called and swung her arms and hands making a scratching movement. She then watched as the tired Espurr took a deep breath before charging forward. Her claws glowing again as she came right at the fox before attempting to scratch him right across the face. Claire didn't want to be mean, she was just too tired to try and aim elsewhere. Now while the purple pokemon attempted her move Usoa also made a scratching movement with her arm and hand at the same time as if it would do any good and help. Silly girl.

The Eevee stared at the girl, raising his eyebrows at her actions. What the heck was she doing? She knew she was not the one battle, right? He shook his head in wonder. Humans. They were all strange in their own ways. Unfortunately, he was too distracted to notice the next Scratch. <Hey!> he cried as he fell to the ground. Now his energy was really drained. He took deep breaths as he slowly stood up. He had to do this. There was no way he could give in. Wincing, he ran forward to attempt yet another Tackle.

It was getting down to the wire, Usoa could sense it in both her pokemon and the wild Eevee. With one eye on the battle she looked in her bag and pulled out a pokeball, and a potion. She did not use either item yet, but instead she waited to see what was going to happen. Seeing Claire take the tackle, she winced. If she hadn't been looking for the pokeball maybe she could have warned the tired Espurr. "Alright Claire just hang in there, Use scratch one more time and make it count. You can do it! I believe in you!" Usoa called out cheering while holding the empty pokeball in her hand. Making it bigger she got ready to throw it soon. Just not yet though, but hopefully very soon. Bracing herself she watched as the purple pokemon moved towards the brown fox to throw another scratch at it. Hopefully she will learn a new and more powerful move quickly. Just scratching and scratching must be quiet tiring for her friend, and it showed.
