Gently closing the door behind her and dropping her backpack beside the wooden table, Nana made her way to her dorm and began her daily routine, studying. She slid her thin reading glasses on and began to write and read away, with all of her needed books piled upon another. Nana had realised that she was missing a book from her collection, and was eager to find it.
She scurried her way to the bookshelves, sliding her pointing finger along the spines of the books. Along the way of finding the book, she was looking into other books that had titles that intimidated her. After what had seemed to be ages, the book was found to be at the very top shelf, just where she could not ever possibly reach. She first tried to get onto her tippy-toes and then tried to jump up and down, yet they both failed miserably. Tapping her finger upon her chin, she was lit up with a idea.
Picking up a stool from the kitchen and placing it next to the bookshelf, she slowly climbed upon the stool and stood up with her grip on the bookshelf. The stool was a little wobbly, yet it didn't bother the Stubborn Nana at all.

The young scientist pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose as he sat in his dorm room by his study rapidly making notes and drawing diagrams. He tapped the pencil against his chin as he turned to the text book beside him. He flipped the page over as he began to read over the contents of the book. He was currently working on his own little experiment and was furiously attempting to gather as much information as he could. He was attempting to discover if pokemon attacks were harmful to humans, they seemed harmful to other pokemon often leaving them knocked out. The idea had popped into his head when he had seen a trainer attempting to catch a Mareep only to have been electrocuted via a thunder shock. While the trainer had been stunned and down for a couple of minutes they were soon back up and running about this he thought was curious. If you looked at pokemon a flying type or a water type would have been knocked out for a few hours but this human only a few minutes. He had also read stories about a human surviving the blast from a hyper beam which struck close to them. There were certainly theories about humans having been pokemon at one stage only to naturally evolve. It could explain why a number of trainers seemed to focus on particular types such as dragon trainers, psychic trainers etc it might be because the pokemon their family descended from might have been one of those types it could explain why sometimes entire families were a fan of a particular type or even a particular pokemon of course this needed more research.
He would first need to gather the information need. This would be pokemon and human anatomy as well as pokemon evolution, pokemon types, eating habits, behaviour and more so much research it was making him giddy with the thought. Kagirinai closed the book and placed it on a pile to his right. To his right was a number of books stacked up to the roof with various titles not only on the subjects he was researching but other subjects from research he had conducted prior. Kagirinai turned to his left only to find no more books awaiting for him to read. He tsked and this and stood up gathering his notes, books and pencils before slipping them into his briefcase. He grabbed his lab coat throwing it over his shoulders as he slipped his hands through the sleeves and collected the brief case. He left his dorm heading to the team study to find more text books, he would also have to make a note to purchase a few others online.
Kagirinai made his way through the halls and entered the room closing the door behind him throwing his briefcase onto the wooden table taking no note of the other bag there. He began making his way over to the book shelfs picking various titles with a single glance his load of books filling up reaching to his chest as he placed them down on the table and went to gather more. As he made his way back to the shelves he took note for the first time the other occupant who had placed a stool by the shelves in order to reach a book on the top shelf. A single thought came to mind, she was short. He reached out plucking the book off the shelf she was after an extended it to her. Once she had grabbed it he left not even bothering saying a word as he returned to gathering books to the point he couldn’t even see over the top. He was to deeply entranced with his research to bother conversing in idle chit chat.
He turned to the table and sat them down next to the other pile and sat down in one of the chairs. He unclipped his briefcase removing his notes and placed them in front of them and removed a pencil. He grabbed the first book titled, ‘Theory of Evolution. Did humans evolve from pokemon?’ . Opening the text book Kagirinai's eyes began to frantically scan the detailed information within processing it and jotting down certain lines and paragraphs that stuck to him. As he scribbled he released a few disturbing maniacal chuckles, "Shishishishishi"

Hearing a creaky door slide open, her head turned to see who had entered. It was a boy, strangely wearing a lab coat. 'Is he a science nerd or something?' The thought ran through her head as her eyes followed the boy when he made his way towards her. His arm ascending up and extending to reach towards her desired book, he picked up the book with pure ease and handed it to her. With a pout, she gently took the book from his grip. Her eyes continued watching his movements as he made his way to a nearby study-desk. She was rather curious upon what he could possibly be researching about, especially because of him wearing the fancy lab coat.
Gently descending herself from the stool, she set her feet onto the turpentine timber flooring, slender hands gripped onto the stool as it wobbled about. Yuudai, her Torchic, followed her by as she made her way to the boy seated at the wooden desk. Arms overlapping behind her, she slightly bended over beside him with a curious glance and giggle. She got even more curious when she heard muffled chuckles from him.
"Watch-a' reading?"

Kagirinai tapped the pencil against his chin deep in thought as he processed the data that he had stumbled upon within the confines of this single book. The book held a lot of interesting theories inside as well as reference of two folk stories from the sinnoh region, "There lived a Pokémon in a forest. In the forest, the Pokémon shed its hide to sleep as a human. Awakened, the human dons the Pokémon hide to roam villages." read Kagirinai mentally inside his head to keep from disturbing the other occupant of the library before his eyes fell on the second story, "There once were Pokémon that became very close to humans. There once were humans and Pokémon that ate together at the same table. It was a time when there existed no differences to distinguish the two." Kagirinai leaned back in his chair closing his eyes as he began to mull the stories over in his head letting his thoughts drift as he chewed on the end of his pencil.
"The first story it sounds similar to another myth I heard of something called a selkie a creature that lives as a seal in the sea but shed their skin to become human on land. Does this have any relation to what I'm researching? Where their once pokemon capable of shedding themselves of their pokemon skin to become human? Did they shed their human skin to breed with other pokemon who shed their own in order to create a new species? Or does it depict evolution from pokemon to man by saying that pokemon shed themselves of their skin or evolved from their skin to take on a new skin that of mankind? The second story though depicts perhaps marriage between Pokemon and Humans though it could also depict evolution as it states 'pokemon that became very close to humans' does this mean pokemon and humans share a common ancestor that something else existed in this world, some form of unknown link" thought Kagirinai as he let his mind begin to work. He opened his eyes and leaned forward to write down his ideas so he could organise his ideals later after further study.
His eyes took on a deathly serious expression as millions of thoughts ran through his brain. He gazed down at his book and he flipped a page over showing a page of a number of pokemon on one side with close human like appearances Machoke, Jynx, Throh, Gothitelle, Mr.Mine, Hitmonchan and many more those labelled in the 'human like' egg group. Next there was a picture of a shadowed figure with a large red question mark on the top and the last of two humans female and male. This page seemed to share his thoughts on the common link between the two. If pokemon had evolved into humans it would explain a humans ability to endure the strength behind a pokemons attack. After all how could a human possibly survive being electrocuted by an Electric type such as Pikachu or Mareep or even survive being struck by a physical attack like Low Kick.
Kagirinai was brought from his thoughts as someone spoke to him. He turned his head taking note that the girl was slightly bending over beside him and asked what he was reading. Kagirinai pushed the tip of his glasses up as he gazed up at her with his serious gaze, "I am reading up on the book "Theory of Evolution" that questions the evolution of man to see if we evolved from pokemon. Of course most theories have yet to be proven as most 'scientists' and researchers lose the interest in the ideal not wishing to seek out the answer deciding its better not knowing. The fools fear what they may uncover and that holds them back" he spoke the word scientist with venom and disdain one could not call themselves a true scientist if they gave up or ignored such an incredible theory. He would be the one to uncover and unlock the secrets of human evolution or die trying.

Slighting tilting her head to the right, she took a second or so to ponder on the subject. There are quite a few Pokémon out there that seem to have a similar body shape to humans, though do have the powers that Pokemon wield. "So you're interested into Pokémon involved science, huh?" A laugh escaped her lips before pausing to say another thing,
"I've been pretty interested into science as well, thinking about becoming a nurse if I could. I happen to be currently reading about the bones n' parts of Pokémon." Her left hand pointing to her own stack of books in the far corner of the room before returning her left hand to her hip as the right leaned onto the table. Her Torchic had somehow manage to climb all the way up to the top of the desk, gazing at the stacks of books before him. "I kind of wonder if us, humans, have some kind of power other than intelligence. Don't you think?" Her hand left her hip grasped onto the edge of the table, head ascending up to look out from the window, watching clouds pass by.

Kagirinai pushed his glasses up as he let his hair frame down covering his eyes as a small grin began to form upon his lips as he listened to the girl speak. He slowly lifted his head a small crazed glint forming on the edge of his eyes, "They say all Pokemon share a single common ancestor that being the legendary pokemon called Mew. mew being the only Pokemon capable of learning any type of attack regardless of type. Perhaps we humans to are descendent's of mew and throw evolution evolved depending on our situations. Natural selection evolution that creatures evolved to better survive in their environment. For example look at the pokemon Pidgey resident of the Kanto region. The Kanto region which is mostly plains and grassland thus Pidgey must pick and dig at the ground for their food. As such enlarged feet, long naisl and stout beak perfect for playing in the dirt. Consider the fact that Kanto doesn't have an abundance of trees to hide thus the Pidgey's main defence is kicking up dirt.
Taillow from Hoenn flys up to 180 miles per day when migrating in the cold season looking for warm clients. Hoenn features mainly of water and Hoenn consists mainly of small islands as such means that it can't take much of break when it gets tired from flying. If you then consider Taillows wingspan Taillow has the largest wingspan of all flying pokemon in comparison to its small body allowing Taillow to remain light while flying thus allowing its large wings to glide and catch more lift with each flap in order to cover large distances.
Consider then Pidove of the Unova region where Unova is a much more urban area and Pidove primary habits are castelia city and the Virbank complex it makes sense that this species and its evolved forms are black and white. the pokemon is also rather loudly allowing it to live in a rather noisy urban environment. However what makes this pokemon most interesting is its low intelligence, normally this would ensure Pidove does not last long in the wild decreasing its chance of survival. But the heart like shape on its chest, its small stature and over all appearance makes it appear rather cute and its stupidity makes it even cuter. In these urban areas there are plenty of humans who would find this adorable and take pity on this stupid yet cute pokemon and thus feed it creating Co_evolution between humans and Pidove" explained Kagirinai as he slowly leaned back in his chair to pause.
"Consider Onix as well it is known primarily to live in the Kanto region or caves a place where its body has evolved allowing it to carve tunnels into these harsh rocky terrains. It's body has gained such strength that it can pierce through solid rock. It's main source of hunting for food is by burrowing and being such a large creature with a body made out of pure rock it does not have any form of predator seeking to devour it so it has evolved into an apex predator same with its evolved form Steelix with its steel like body from the Johto region" lectured Kagirinai as he paused again to let it all sink in as he leaned forth to jot down a few more notes. There were quiet a few pokemon he would need to experiment on including his own such as Nidorino, Elekid, Tauros, Petilil and Wynaut each had an interesting physical make up that he simply wanted to dissect them in analyse everything about them.
"Consider this the bug pokemon Pinsir. Pinsir is native to the Kanto region where Kanto experiences mainly warm whether with hardly any cold climate same with where it cab be found in the Johto Region two areas not known for their cold weather. This creature mainly lived in warm climates as such it adapted in order to survive as such it loves the heat and shies away from the cold as it cannot operate in cold climates much like most bug type pokemon. because of this dislike for the cold its pincer's that evolved over time allow it to burrow underground to seek out warmth and heat during cold nights. Secondly this creature developed rather large pincers capable of splitting solid rock in half meaning that it evolved in order to hunt the prey within its area meaning the prey of a Pinsir have quite hard shells such as Kakuna and Metapod. Pinsir also evolved over time to develop incredible brute for strength as if it can't split the shell of its prey open it uses its powerful claws to grip and toss them about in order to do so" explained Kagirinai again as he showed his more intellectual side as he went into full science mode not really caring if he bored the girl or not.
He even took the time to point at her Torchic, "Consider this your Torchic. While it looks like a bird pokemon it is in fact only a fire type. Theorise this since it is native to the Hoenn region which consits of many islands and the largest body of water known to all regions Torchic evolved in order to accommodate itself to its location. Where Taillow evolved for long flights to avoid the cold Torchic evolved to the point it generates its own heat source. Due to its own evolution Torchic evolved in such a way its body allowed it to create and storm a powerful lame inside its belly that keeps it warm ensuring during the cold seasons it could survive. Its defence is the ability to breathe fireballs capable of reaching 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit in order to frighten off predators. Much like a Pidgey it has a short beak and larger feet but know where near the size of a Pidgey indicating its feet are not used for digging around in the dirt. It's shorter beak might indicate that its primary diet are insects which with type advantages tell us bug types are naturally weak to fire. Of course most humans don't tend to like to hear the idea of pokemon consuming other pokemon as a food source. But considering the ancient pokemon Aerodactly is distinctly a carnivore it is obvious pokemon are capable of eating each other. After all no creature relies on the simple consumption of vegetation as no doubt certain pokemon require iron and protein that come from meat such as Tyranitar and Charzard" theorised Kagirinai as he pulled his glasses after and shut his eyes going into deep though.
When ever Kagirinai started talking in such a manner and going into such a depth many had often left him as they didn't wish to listen to him continue on and on about different theories. So he could not really blame the girl if she decided to part ways he truly did not care what others though of him. He didn't care if others called him a nerd, geek or an insufferable no it all. He was merely a man of science who sort to discover and unveil the secrets of the world.

Nana was really digging into this information this guy was shooting out, she couldn't believe that he could know such descriptive and hard things off by heart. Pulling on over a short stool not far from reach, she sat herself and leaned an elbow onto the table as her fingers fondled with the hinges of her pair of thin reading glasses. Understanding each of his flowing speech of fascinating Pokémon, she swore that her brain felt like as if it were to explode from such cramming and overflowing knowledge and theories.
'He surely must have a soar throat from speaking for so long' She thought with a curious arched eyebrow. "Wow, you're like a beast at this kind of stuff! Aren't you out of breath or something?!" Her mouth gaped open at his blabbering smart talk.
"Man, you're really smart. You must have been doing thing kind of stuff ever since you were a kid," She took a silent pause while in the middle of her brainstorming thoughts,
"Y'know, I think when I was eight, I saw a Wailord for the first time of my life, and just had a recent thought on it a few days ago. Wailord is said to be the biggest Pokémon living, and is even too big to capture with a stylus if a ranger. People say that if a Wailord were to use body slam on a Pokémon, that it would most likely or certainly faint from just that one move. Wailord can dive nearly ten-thousand feet on one breath or even be able to jump high into the air and create gigantic pillars of water. It can sometimes knock out opponents with the shock created by breaching and crashing its big body onto the water. Because most Pokémon grow smaller after one ancestor and another, I believe that Wailord could've had an ancestor that is much bigger than its size itself."
Nana nodded in confidence of her theory with a cheery smile, "Oh, would you mind if I borrowed that book after you?" She merely pointed her finger to the book with a questioning look.

Kagirinai pushed his glasses upwards with the palm of his hand as he slowly leaned back in his chair to gaze upon her turning his head allowing her to see the burn like scar that ran through his left eye, unlike the right which was a deep shade of red the left was a dull shade of pink indicating he was blind, "As you put it I am a 'beast' when it comes to the field of science. My love of 'science' originated from the love of the field of medicine thanks to my parents and their clinic. My love later branched off from dissect the corpses of pokemon and humans in order to discover all there is to know" explained kagirinai without a second thought not taking note that perhaps he might disgust her at the fact dissected corpses of pokemon and humans in his life.
"While it is true Wailord might have had an ancestor that was of a larger size than it there is the possibility Wailord evolved from a smaller ancestor. It might be perhaps that Wailord's smaller ancestor found itself needing to a drastic growth in its natural size to compete with other species for food source or to defend itself from a predator who sought to hunt it as such some evolved to combat this predator by growing to such an enormous size to frighten it. There is also the possibility its growth in size is the reason it is able to dive to such depths in order to reach its prey.
"There is even the theory that Wailord might have evolved naturally from the Legendary pokemon Kyogre. While there is quite a different in height between the two both are in the same 'weight' range as one another and Kyogre is the only other water type pokemon besides Wailmer, Wailord's pre-evolved form, that share similar comparisons to one another. While Gyarados is of a large size than Kyogre it is no where close to the same physical shape of Wailord." commented Kagirinai as he eyed the girl with his lone eye who perhaps might be able to challenge his scientific mind. Kagirinai slowly removed his glasses letting them swing between his thumb and index finger.
His right eye gazed down at the book he was reading. He slowly shut the book and slid it across to her, "Of course" spoke Kagirinai as he placed his glasses down on the table and turned his body in her direction, "I suppose proper etiquette would dictate that I introduce myself. Ikazuchiarashi, Kagirinai" that's when his gaze turned onto her Torchic. He leaned forward as he began to inspect it, "What I wouldn't give to have the chance to dissect you. TO be able to study your interior"

Nana raised her eyebrow at the thought of dissecting and opening up to see the insides of an animal, or even a human. Sure, it disgusted her, but she didn't take any offence to it. You can't just open up a book, see pictures of the organs of a body and go on and say that you've seen the insides of a dead body! She wasn't exactly okay with scientists killing off pokemon to just dissect them, but is okay if they were already dead in the first place. "There isn't much of a problem with dissecting, because you can't look at a book that shows pictures of organs and go on and say that you've 'seen' the insides of a Pokémon. You've got to learn what you've got to learn, right?" Nana shrugged her shoulders with a serene smile.
When listening to his opinion of Wailord, she was shocked. 'This guy is a genius! I could never come up with this!' Grasping his two shoulders when he finished his opinion, she shook them with words of pure excitement and proud. "Dude, you're a genius! I would never come up with such a theory! I- It's like as if the theory is proven real!" A wide cheesy grin was spread across her face before she quickly grabbed a nearby ink pen, rested upon the table, and wrote down the note onto her hand. Nana never really seemed to be the type to be interested into sciency stuff, and has been surprised herself that she could be turning into the nerdy type. She was like a heavily-sporty jock, yet heavily interested into science and mythology like a nerd would crave and squeal over.
Being handed the book, her eyebrow raised once again. "But aren't you still using the book? I can wait until you finish it, I don't want to interrupt your studies or anything!" She raised her two hands with the palms facing towards him with re-assurance and concern.
Dazing off after he introduced herself, it took a second to realise that he was speaking to her. "Oh, uh, nice to meet you! My name is Nana Ta- Tachi - .. No, yea .. Just Nana!" She laughed awkwardly suspiciously. She had rather not to tell her last name because of the pain that it brings from simply saying it, and sometimes being recognised by the name and last name depending from where the asker is from Sinnoh or not. She dazed off while sheepishly rubbing the back of her head until she noticed what Kagirinai was saying.
Quickly pulling her Torchic into her cuddling embrace, she pouted with furrowed eyebrows. "Anything but my Pokémon, Kagirinai! Specially Yuudai, because he'll peck you hard if you attempt it."

Kagirinai blinked at being shaken as she called him a genius. He leaned back as she let him go and waved his right hand through the air half haphazardly, "Genius is simply a term to dictate those of a higher intellect. While I may be 'classed' as a genius not one becomes a genius simply over night. While their are humans who have a high level of intellect from birth that does not automatically start them off as 'all knowing'. As such I rather hate the label of being a 'genius'. All I have achieved I have done through hundreds of hours of study since I was four. I am a scientist that is the label I prefer" spoke Kagirinai as he slid his glasses back on his hair coming down to cover his left eye.
"Also I am quite finished with the text. I read the book a number of years ago I have merely refreshing myself upon its content in order to apply it to my current thesis" spoke Kagirinai his tone almost robotic he had read the back as 'light' reading material when we was ten when ever he had trouble sleeping, while it had been a few years since he read it he remembered most of its content but simply wanted to refresh himself on its context.
Kagirinai pulled a pokeball from his lab coat as he ignored Nana grabbing her torchic cuddling it as she spoke to him about not dissecting her companion. a beam of light shot out of the sphere as his Petilil landed before him on the table staring at him curiosity. Kagirinai reached into another pocket removing a small case and set it on the table opening it up to reveal a number of items, far to many to name. He removed a small scalpel and lifted up one of the leaves on her head before removing a small test tube and removing the lid. He held the test tube at the end of the leaf as he gently ran his scalpel along the top of the leaves and began scrapping it against them. He cut off a few pieces from the top layer of leaves with a small moisture around them into the tube before placing the lid back on.
"While I wouldn't mind dissecting your Torchic, I only dissect corpses unless my specimen gives me permission to do so, even then anaesthesia is used" spoke Kagirinai as he lifted the tube to his eye level and inspected the contents before placing it in the case, "Of course I have plenty of pokemon to run tests upon before I'am required to branch out."

"Oh, then," She began to shake his shoulders again with a cheeky giggle, "Dude, you're a scientist!" She leaned backwards and bursted out in laughter with a few snorts here and there that simply just made her laugh even more. After a minute or more, her steady breathing pattern began to steady and calm down. Sighing happily, she let him continue what he were to say.
"That's a good idea, I should try to revise some of my old books sometime. I have a pretty bad memory, so it'd be necessary to read a few of my old books." She tapped her chin in thought with a nod. Nana must be bipolar or something, because her moods are just changing from one to another in a click of a finger. "Well, thanks for letting me borrow it! Oh, when should I give it back?" She slightly tilted her head to the left with a curious glint.
Watching him dig his hand to his pocket in his crisp clean white lab coat, her eyes followed to the poke ball, to the red gleam that beamed onto the table, and to the Petilil that appeared before her. Her eyes continued to watch his movements until he pulled out a series of medical and dissecting supplies. A look of shock sprayed upon her.
"Oh no, no, no you don't! You can't be serious, this isn't funny! Y-You're joking right?!" Nana clenched harder onto her torchic within her grasp, dashingly pushing the stool and allowing it to fall to the ground. She took a majority of steps back away from him with her head bobbing from left to right with a afraid and worried frown. "He doesn't need any testing! You may be some kind of scientist, but this is unnecessary!" Her lips quivered as tears sprang to her eyes, like the crybaby she is.

Kagirinai and his Petilil turned to look at Nana with a questioning gaze as he placed the scalpel down on the table before exchanging a look with his pokemon who tilted her head to the left, "Til?" was her only comment as she the three leaves upon her head flicked back and forth through the air, "I do not understand your current emotion hysterics nor emotional state. Logically as one can see I am extracting samples from my petilil thus I am not attempting to dissect, analyse or experiment upon your Torchic. However it seems you have allowed your 'emotions' to dictate your logic under the belief simply because I have expressed my interest in dissecting your Torchic that by removing this case it is what I intend to do."
"If logic dictates you are concerned with my Petilil your concerns are not needed. The leaves upon her head while connected to her nervous system carry no pain receptors and are an accessory not a physical part of her physiology" spoke Kagirinai as he leaned forward removing a small spy glass from his case and brought it up to his right eye and began examining his Petilil lifting the leaves to inspect beneath them as his grass type sat their, "As you can see my Petilil, Haruko is not distressed" the scientist in training reached into his case pulling out a small syringe and a bottle of red dye. He placed the syringe in and drew out the dye before lifting the base of one of Haruko's leaves and inserted the syringe into one of her veins and slowly injected the dye as he did he took note that across the entire leaf up to the tip running through the veins. Kagirinai put the syringe in the case and rubbed his chin before he opened his notepad and removed a pencil as he started to draw down a rough sketch of the leaf.
Petilil looked at her green leaf with red veins running along it and stared with a confused look. Kagirinai raised a hand and patted her on the head, "I'm curious about how your body transports minerals and water to your leaves so I wish to view the veins within. Also the dye will disperse within an hour" he commented never looking up from the page. Haruko nodded her head with a happy smile.

"Huh?" It seems to be that Nana was misunderstanding things. "B-But I thought, you were.. you were going to dissect my Torchic?" Her mouth gaped open, she transferred looks between her and her Torchic. Suddenly, she bursted into a giggle. "Jeez, I'm an idiot!" She covered her mouth as she laughed throughout her sentence, "Sorry about that, I must of looked like the biggest cry baby." She wiped away the tears that were remaining in her eyes.
"Well, Uh, I - I'm just going to shut up now and read the book before I run out of time and begin to annoy you in your.. studies, research.. yea." She awkwardly made her way to her dorm room with her Torchic waddling not far behind. Opening the door, she let herself and Yuudai through. Forgetting about her things beside the couch in the lounge room, she quickly hurried to the couch, grabbed her things, and awkwardly once again made her way back to the dorm. "Uh, have a nice day!" She shouted out before closing the door behind her.
