OOC: It's time again! This time, performances will be in reverse alphabetical order by first name: Shizuko Hirabayashi, Nate Kerston, Kiki Jones, Faith Donnellon, and Ayame Sokowasa.If it is your turn and you do not post within 24 hours, you will be disqualified. The results will be posted once everyone is finished and the staff gets them in. Four students will advance to the second round. Feel free to post characters in the audience. Do your best and good luck.
It was time for another contest! Principal Sash was pleased that the time had passed by so quickly. She thought the last contest had gone quite well except for a few bugs, which was to be expected on their first try. She was sure this next one would be even better. The turnout in the stands was also quite good. She stood back with her Vulpix Maya by her side. Once she saw it was time to start, the two of them walked up onto the stage.
She cleared her throat before picking up the microphone placed at the front of the stage. "Good morning!" she said in a cheerful voice. "I'm glad you could all join us for the August Contest. We're all in for a treat. We have five contestants ready to perform for you all, so let's get started. First up, give a warm welcome to Shizuko Hirabayashi!" She smiled as she picked up the microphone stand and walked off the stage with Maya. It had begun! |

Shizuko stood at the edge of the contest area in a way she was slightly nervous to be participating in her first contest appeal. She smiled to herself as she calmed her nerves as long as she tried her best that was all she could hope for. The young woman breathed in slowly before exhaling waiting for her name to be called as Principal sash took the microphone and cried good morning in a bright cheery voice. The principals tone slightly calmed her nerves. She clenched her fists as the principal introduced her as the first participant. She calmed herself down as she flicked her wrists allowing her twin iron fans to fall from the sleeves of her dress and into her hands. She walked out onto the contest floor walking with a grace in her steps the picture of a graceful young woman with her walk. She stood in the middle of the contest arena. With a flick of her fans her fans sprung open. She used one to hide her beautiful features while using the other to unhook the pokeball on her hip. Shizuko balanced the pokeball on her fan as she began to dance moving her arms and swaying her hips in a enticing sultry dance. The pokeball slid along her fan across her back and into her other fan as she tossed it up into the air. The pokeball lifted up into the air popping open as a Piplup appeared and landed on the ground in front of her taking a pose. Shizuko swayed with her fans as five freshly unwrapped rare candies slid down her right sleeve and onto her fan. She flicked her wrist sending the candies flying into the air towards Piplup. The water bird opened her mouth allowing the rare candies to fall in as she consumed them. Shizuko sweetly at her Ran as the Piplup turned to her. The fan dancer fluttered her fan in front of her it was time to get this sow on the world, "Ran spin and bubble!" she spoke in a soft soothing sultry tone. Shizuko made a small graceful spun making her piplup do the same. The water type pokemon continued her spinning until she leaned her head back continuing to spin along the way. Small bubbles began to float up into the air sparkling in the light of the arena as they floated up into the air. As she spun she fired her bubbles off at various angles causing them to float into the air and begin to collide with one another. As here bubbles collided they would pop at any moment and when they did it would be time to begin her next move as placed by her trainer. The bubbles bounced against each other in the air before they popped at that moment Shizuko made her move " Icebeam" she commanded as she pointed to the incoming water droplets with one of her iron fans. Piplup opened her mouth and relased an arch of beautiful cyan light that flew upwards as the bubbles popped to release countless droplets of water. The beam connected with the incoming droplets, the cold ice beam caused a mist to form in the air above them before the second stage began. The temperature dropped in the air before falling from the mist came down numerous small delicate snow flakes. The snow flakes fell down around the arena and as they did Shizuko and her piplup danced around them. Shizuko and her Piplup moved their bodies graceful performing a beautiful dance amongst the falling snow flakes. Shizuko's fans as she moved them would catch the flakes letting powdered snow to fall. As the last of the flakes fell Shizuko and her pokemon came to a stop. The two leaned forward Shizuko raised a fan to her lips while Ran raised a flipper to her own and together they blew the crowd a kiss in synch. The two then curtsied before they walked off stage to await the results.

The performance started interestingly when the Piplup leveled up. Not many coordinators used rare candies in a contest. It was pretty effective, though. Principal Sash watched in wonder when snow began to fall down on the stage. "How beautiful," she said into the microphone. "It looks like they're having fun." It was quite cute they way they were playing together. "Thank you, Shizuko and Piplup. Next up, it's Nate Kerston!" |

Nate was no coordinator by any stretch of the imagination. However, he liked trying new things, and contests were interesting to him. he had not made it past the appeals round in his last contest, so he wanted to keep on trying until he got to experience a contest battle. He waited in the back room with his partner, Watcher the Eevee. He was dressed in his normal clothes, figuring the point was to show off his Pokemon, not himself. When his name was called, he returned Watcher to his Pokeball, put on a bright smile, and walked out onto the stage.
He stopped near the back of the stage. Then he took the Pokeball back out, tossed it into the air, and said, "Let's go, Watcher!" The Eevee appeared in the air and landed on his head. He grinned at the crowd as he wagged his tail. "Use Swfit!" Watcher shot out sharp star-shaped rays from his mouth and up into the air. While still using the attack. He hopped down to the ground while spinning around, creating a funnel of the stars. "Now, Sand Attack!" As soon as he hit the ground, he swept up sand and dust with his feet and tail. The dust flew into the air, crashing into the swift attack and breaking them in half, causing some of them to sparkle.
"Tickle!" his trainer called. As the broken stars fell to the ground, Watcher raced around in a circle, tickling them with his tail and causing them to levitate in a circle. When he had gone all the way around, he sat at the front of the stage while the circle of stars gently floated down behind him. "Finish off with Baby-Doll Eyes!" The Eevee made his eyes as cute as possible to win over the crowd. After a few moments, he stood up and bowed along with Nate. Then the two of them walked off the stage together.

The next performance captured Sash's interest as well. This coordinator had also managed to use his Pokemon's move in a unique way. "Those are interesting patterns that Eevee has created," she said. "And isn't he cute!" Adorableness was probably something his trainer had been aiming for, and it worked well. "Thank you, Nate and Eevee. Now we have Kiki Jones, the winner of our last contest!" |

Kiki was prepared for the contest. It helped that she had won the previous contest. She knew she had nothing to worry about. She could do this. She was using Alice just like last time. This time, her Pokemon was a Bayleef instead of a Chikorita, and she had some new moves. The girl was wearing a yellow and green dress that matched her partner perfectly. When her name was called, she smiled brightly and strolled out onto the stage. "Let's go, Alice!" She pulled her arm down like she was going to pitch a ball underhand and released her Pokemon. Alice appeared before her with a smile of her own. Alice appeared before her with a smile of her own. "Magical Leaf!"
Alice issued spiraling leaves from her body, aiming them upwards. "Now, Razor Leaf!"The new sharp leaves were also aimed up, and they collided with the others. "Reflect!" The Bayleef made a bright screen appear all around her. When the leaves hit, they bounced off in the opposite direction. "Poison Powder!" Alice sent sparkling powder in front of herself, striking the leaves and making them shiny. "Synthesis!" She calmly absorbed the power of the sun. Her whole body seemed to shine with energy. After the leaves hit the ground, trainer and Pokemon bowed and walked off stage. Kiki wondered if she had tried to do too much, but she knew it was too late now. The results were n the hands of the judges.

Principal Sash remembered Alice from the previous contest, and she was as beautiful as ever. She and her trainer worked well together. "A beautiful combination of various moves," she said. "And a nice ending. Thank you, Kiki and Bayleef!" She paused to let the audience applaud. "Next, please welcome Faith Donnellon!" |

This was it. Her first contest. It was unfortunate that it was happening so soon, for her Pokemon did not know many moves. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. Faith fully did not expect to win with her weak combinations. She did not even expect to make it past the Appeals round. In this way, she could use this first contest to get over any initial fears and have a practice round. If she did manage to get somewhere, it would be a pleasant surprise.
She wore a plain, dark blue dress, and her hair was braided as she stepped out onto the stage. With a smile, she took out a Pokeball and said, "Time to play, Willy." The Bidoof soon appeared, wagging his tail happily. "Up and Aqua Jet!" Willy jumped up onto her back. Clinging there, he began to use Aqua Jet. Faith spread her arms and glided along the stage like she was an airplane. She wanted to use her youth to her advantage. After a minute of this, she stopped and said, "Growl." Willy hopped down onto the stage and growled playfully at the audience. Finally, they both bowed. Willy ran over to Faith and climbed up onto her shoulder. They exited together.

Principal Sash has never seen a performance like the next one. The Bidoof probably did not know many moves, and the trainer appeared to be a new student. The principal appreciated that they still wanted to give the contest a shot. "That looks like fun," she said. "Very creative. Thank you, Faith and Bidoof. Lastly, we have Ayame Sokowasa!" |

Sorry about the horrific quality, my scanner is not working. This is her outfit she'll be wearing. 
This was Ayame's second contest, her first she had to forfeit due to a 'surprise' vacation from her parents. She was angry at them for awhile, but the Olivia Region was heaven, not even mentioning the nice 'Pokemon Rangers' that lived there. She was back for this one, though, sitting backstage in her contest outfit. She watched the TV in the backroom with sweatdrops on her forehead, all of the acts where very good. As Principle Sash called her name, she slowly stood up and took a deep breath.
In. Out. In.
She hiccupped, and remembered this would be on TV.
Ou-out, in.
Ayame soon got over it and stepped out of the room and onto the stage. She unhooked her trusty pokeball, tinted purple with the seals she put on it.
"Fiore, dazzle them!" Ayame threw the purple ball in the air, and as the pokeball cracked open it broke the seals attached. A blizzard of red and blue petals flurried throughout the contest hall, only to gather and form a red and blue rose. From the roses formed a Roselia wearing a small bow on her neck..
<Roseil-twee!> The small rose pokemon happily tweeted as it landed on the ground.
"Fiore, use Sludge Bomb!" From the three highly-poisonous thorns on her head, poison seeped out of them and into a shiny sphere of purple toxins. "Use Water Sport!" She rose her roses up in the air and let out a sprinkle of water, juggling the purple orb around in the air. "Use Poison Sting!" Out of her other rose, the pokemon threw a thorn at the sphere, punturing it. It exploded into sprinkles of poison which mixed with the water spout. "Finish it with Dazzling Gleam!" Fiore's roses glowed with a pink light, which she then swung counterclockwise over her head, letting out a contact-lens shaped wave of light to be strewn out. As the light passed though the pink liquid, hundreds of small pink, red and purple rainbows appeared everywhere. Ayame and her pokemon bowed before she picked up the pokemon and walked off the stage.

Principal Sash enjoyed the last contest performance as well. She was too bus watching to comment until the end. "My, that was simply beautiful," she said. The judged were going to have a hard time choose four of the five coordinators to move onto the battle round. "Thank you, Ayame and Roselia." After the applause died down, she stepped up onto the battlefield again to address everyone. "That concludes our exciting appeals round. Our judges will soon decide who will be moving on!"
The judges soon decided on the finalists. Sash smiled as she walked back onto the field. "Thank you for your patience. These are the trainers who will be going onto the battle round." On the large screen, four pictures appeared: Shizuko, Kiki, Faith, and Ayame. "Congratulations. Now, let us find out our match ups." The pictures moved around until there were two sets of two. "It looks like it will be Shizuko vs. Kiki and Faith vs. Ayame. Good luck to everyone. We will begin in 15 minutes."
