OOC: This thread is for Shizuko and Kiki's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Shizuko should post first. She also has the first move.
IC: After the break, Principal Sash returned to the battlefield once again. "Thank you for your patience," he said to the crowd. "Now I would like you to welcome Shizuko from Kalos and Kiki from Johto!" With that, she left to take her place. |

Shizuko beamed brightly as she made her way towards the battle field in order to start the second round of the contest, the contest battles. She had confidence she could do well but she wasn't as experienced as the other competitors this being her first tournament but she would do her best and she knew her pokemon would do the same. She brought out one of her fans and raised it to hide her delicate features as she gave a gentle giggle as she made her way to the arena floor. As she walked she swayed her hips moving in a sultry seductive manner drawing eyes towards her. She smiled to the crowd batting her eyelashes making them swoon before she finally arrived at the arena. She removed a pokeball from her sleeve and began to balance it along the edge of her tessen iron fan. She drew her other fan and began to dance much like she had when during her contest appeals. Her fans glided through the air as she balanced the pokeball atop them before with a flick of her wrist her dance came to an end and the pokeball sailed into the air. The pokeball opened as a beam of light shot out and her pokemon appeared on the arena floor. Her water pokemon Piplup arrived on the scene jumping up and down with excitement. The water type turned to her trainer putting her tiny flippers into the air as a fierce fire burned in her eyes. Shizuko smiled at her water type, " Let's do our best Ran" Ran nodded her head as she turned around and waited for her opponent.

It excited Kiki to be moving onto the next round of the contest once again. She remembered how she had won the previous contest through strange circumstances. She hoped she would actually get to battle this time. It would feel much more like a fair win if she did it the right way instead of simply facing opponents who surrounded. There was a small smile on her face as she stepped onto the stage, her eyes landing on Shizuko. She remembered the Piplup from the appeals round. The two of them had been quite good. This was going to be a fun and interesting battle. "Hello," she greeted her opponent. "Good luck." She found one of her Pokeballs and tossed it in the air. "It's your turn, Penelope."
With a flash of light, the Seel appeared in the air. She did a backwards flip before landing on the floor, posing for effect. She had been hoping she would get to participate in the contest. It sounded like lots of fun! She grinned over at the Piplup, determination blazing in her eyes. <I hope you're ready!> She was in this to win!

Shizuko moved her fan as she smiled at her opponent, "Good luck to you too" she said as she continued hiding her face behind her fan. She was looking forward to this battle. She hoped her Ran could deal with Kiki's Seel called Penelope. She really, really wanted to win this in order to prove to herself that she was a strong and competitive contest trainer. This being her first contest she wanted to do her best to make sure she won this in order to move on, but if she lost she wasn't going to be depressed about it, "Alright Ran let's do this. Start with Growl then follow with Aerial ace!" She called as she flicked her wrist causing her fan to fold in on itself as she pointed the end of the fan at the Seel. Ran looked at her opponent giving a big smile, <I won't hold back> said the Piplup as she pumped her fins into the air her eyes burning with determination. She opened her beak and growled loudly at the Seel to lower her attack before Ran shot forth becoming a blur as she sped towards the Seel to strike her with an aerial ace.

Kiki was ready for action. The Piplup started off great, earning a couple of points. The trainer knew she had to act quickly. This was a contest battle, so she also had to think carefully. An idea hit her. "Jump up in the air and use Icy Wind!" She hoped her Seel would know what to do. At least their opponent seemed friendly.
<Great!> Penelope said to the Piplup. She liked an opponent that would give it his all. A contest was a new experience for her, but she was determined to do her best. When the penguin Pokemon came flying at her, she dodged by jumping in the air and doing a flip. While she was coming back down, she blew a gust of chill air at the Piplup. She landed neatly on her tail, standing up on it for a second before lowering herself back down.

Shizuko merely smiled at Kiki as her pokemon avoided her aerial ace and blew out a gust of chilled air towards her Ran. The water type stood her ground as the icy wind struck her sending her sliding back. She shook herself off ignoring the cold that lingered on her skin. She dusted the ice of her body and turned towards her training receiving a nod as Shizuko gave the command, "Ran Growl and Aerial Ace once more!" she beckoned. Piplup nodded her head and opened her mouth growling cutely at the Seal to enhance her already adorable features. She then flapped her flippers before she rushed forth towards the Seal her beak beginning to glow followed by her wings as she dashed towards the Seel aiming to slam into her with her Aerial Ace.

Kiki could tell that her opponents were quite good. She could ask Penelope to dodge again, but knowing her personality, she decided to try something different. She just hoped the judges would like it. "Penelope, intercept it using Headbutt! When you get back down, use Growl." She trusted her Seel to carry out the moves in the best way possible.
Penelope had a determined look on her face as she watched the Piplup fly towards her. She was not afraid to meet him head on, and that is exactly what she did. She leapt into the air, lowering her head so that she would hit his body just as he struck her. The force of the blow sent her falling back, but she managed a graceful flip and landed on her tail once again. Now that she was on the ground again, she let out a low growl.

Ran stumbled back from the connecting blow as the opponent used her headbutt to land a blow. Piplup stumbled around before shaking her head regaining herself and glaring at her foe as Shizuko called over head, " Ran, Growl and Pound!" with a nod Ran growled loudly to counter her foes own Growl with their offensive skills lowered it would make this battle just that harder to win. Ran then shot forth towards Seel raising her right flipper high in order to strike the Seel with her pound attack which for her was a powerful slap.

The Piplup fought back well. He was too quick for Kiki's Seel to be able to dodge. The two Pokemon seemed evenly matched by strength and ability. This would likely come down to the creativity of the coordinators in coming up with appealing combinations. The girl had an idea that just might work. "Use Headbutt again and then Water Sport!" It was unlikely that the Piplup knew a fire type move, so Water Sport was useless for that, but it might serve to look good and win over the judges.
Penelope was struck by the Pound attack. She glared at the Piplup as she stood her ground. She was going to pay for that! She took a deep breath as she reminded herself that she had to appear graceful. She moved forward to try another Headbutt attack. upon falling back, she shot a stream of water in the air, which fell down as droplets and covered her body, making it glisten and shine.

OOC: I am sorry, but we have to keep moving along. I am giving Shizuko 96 hours (four days) to post or Kiki will win by default. If you have a good excuse for being away form the forum, just let me know and I will give you an extension.

Principal Sash watched the Piplup be defeated in the end. Kiki was left standing with the most points. Sash rose and stepped up to the battlefield. "The battle is over, and Kiki is our winner. She will be representing Johto in the final round!" It was bound to be exciting. She could not wait to see who the other coordinator would be.
Kiki has earned 20 points for Team Johto!
Seel has gained two levels.
Piplup has gained one level. He now knows Water Sport! |
