The battle was heating up, and there was still plenty of enough time on the clock for it to end in defeat of one of the Pokemon. Faith could not think of much to do other than to continue using her best combination. "Hang in there, Willy. Use Growl and Aqua Tail!"
Willy was beginning to tire, and he was unable to dodge the next Tackle. he could only hope that his own attacks would prove more effective. After standing up, he growled right back at the Eevee. Then he turned and ran backwards with his tail spinning with water.

This was getting too close for comfort. Kiki could tell that her opponent was really giving it her all. Nearing the end of the battle, they were both sticking with their strongest attacks. At this point, she could not tell who would stand victorious. "We're almost there, Ella. Tail Whip and Tackle!" Would it be enough?
Ella had the breath knocked out of her when the Bidoof's tail collided with her body. It was a struggle for her to stand up, but she managed it. She knew she would not be able to take another blow, but she was determined to keep on fight. She jumped in the air while swishing her tail then aimed downward to strike her target.

Faith could see that the battle was coming to an end. The Eevee struck hard, but it was not enough to knock out her Bidoof. Time was running out. They had to end this now. "Willy, give it your best Tackle!" She hoped this would do it. She was so close to winning her first contest!
Willy jumped back as the Eevee came flying towards him, but he was toos low. he grit his teeth as the attack hit him hard. He knew he had to hang in there. He took several leaps back once he was free. Then he bounded forward, combing both strength and beauty inhis final Tackle.

Ella bunched her muscles to jump, but it was too late. The Bidoof crashed into her and sent her flying across the field. She tumbled to a stop and then fainted.
"Ella!" Kiki cried when she saw her Pokemon faint. She rushed forward and picked her up in her arms. "Are you alright?" She did not seem too badly hurt, so she gave her a small smile as she took out her Pokeball. "You did well. Take a rest now." After returning her, she looked across the field at Faith. "Great job. Your Bidoof is pretty cool." She knew when to give proper credit. She had not won, but she had gotten close,a nd she would take what she had learned and apply it to next time.

Principal Sash found the finally battle very exciting indeed. For while, she did not know who was going to win. Both coordinators had a lot to learn about Pokemon contests, but they had fought hard. She was pleased to award a ribbon once it was all over. Once the Eevee fainted, she stepped forward with her microphone and said, "That's it, folks. The winner of our August Contest is Faith!" She paused and smiled as everyone cheered. Once the noise died down, she made her way towards Faith and held out her ribbon to her. "This is yours. You have earned it." The audience applauded again.
Faith has won the contest and earned a ribbon!
Faith has earned 120 points for Team Hoenn!
Bidoof has gained three levels. He now knows Defense Curl.
Eevee has gained one level. |

Willy stared at the Eevee as she fainted. They won? They had won! He spun around and raced towards his trainer. <We did it! We won!> He grinned up at her, hoping she was proud of him. That had been hard work!
Faith blinked as she watched the scene unfold. She could not believe she had won. This was her first contest, and she won. Then a wild smile spread across her face. She bent down and pat Willy on the head. "Awesome work, Willy. You were amazing." Then she stood up and nodded at Kiki. "Thanks. Your Eevee is still adorable. For awhile, I thought you were going to win." She felt grateful and humbled as the crowd cheered for her. She graciously accepted the ribbon Sash gave to her. "Thank you." She knew her mother had been watching, and she could not wait to call her and see what she thought of her performance! |
