Oh, crap. Crap, crap, crap.
Micah was never the most timely person in the world, especially when it came to appointments in the morning. He liked his sleep like any normal teen, and he generally preferred sleeping in. He had tried to arrive early, but that apparently just wasn't in the cards for him today. His alarm had gone off, but the snooze was just too appealing after a rather late night. One snooze turned into ten, and before he knew it, he was running late. He took the quickest shower in his history and threw on the first clean pair of clothes he found before taking off on a sprint to the principal's office, wet hair leaving trickling drops down his back.
With seconds to spare, he skidded to a stop outside the office. He took a brief moment to catch his breath before knocking on the door. "Um, hello," he called out to the door. "I'm here to get my Pokemon and stuff." Obviously. As far as he knew, nobody ever went to the principal's office for fun, and he wasn't the type to get into enough trouble to warrant a trip to the principal's office. To be honest, he just wanted to get his Pokemon, get out, and never have contact with the principal ever again.
He had the most pleasant smile on his face that he could muster at the moment, waiting for permission to be allowed in. In insides were sort of squirming, though, uncomfortable with having to spend even the smallest amount of time with an authority figure. It just wasn't something he did.

It was another busy day for Principal Sash. There was so much to be done at the start of the semester. She disliked all the paperwork and usually had vice principal Turner work on it. He was into that kind of stuff, while she enjoyed interacted with the students. It was too bad she usually only say them when they got their first Pokemon and when they were in trouble. It would be nice to see how they were doing along the way. However, she understood why students were hesitant to approach her. Principals were usually known for being stern and handing out discipline. It was too bad, really.
Maya the Vulpix was taking a stroll around the room, sniffing at things she found interesting. She immediately froze when she heard a knock on the door. Who was there to disturb them? She looked back at the desk and said, <I think there's a student here.>
Sash stood up upon hearing the student speak through the door. It was always nice when they were polite enough to knock first. "Come on in!" she called. She grabbed a personality test off of the top of her desk so that she would be ready when the student entered. She then strolled forward to greet him. "I have something for you to fill out." Maya stood by her trainer, waiting intently for what would happen next.

Micah shifted his weight from side to side in the seconds he waited, eyes flickering around the hallways. He was keeping an eye out for other students at the Academy, worried that the others would think he was in trouble. Sure, everybody had to go through this, but he couldn't help but feel that anyone that saw him would judge him on the fact he was hovering outside the principal's office.
He was relieved when he was allowed in without seeing anybody in the halls. He slipped into the office, keeping a relatively fake smile plastered on his face as he came face to face with the principal. He spared a glance to the vulpix near Principal Sash before bringing his eyes back up to hers.
A test? He had totally forgotten about that, but he wasn't planning on letting the principal know that. "Of course. Thank you," he responded smoothly as he reached for the test so that he could begin filling it out. He mentally rolled his eyes at the length of it, not knowing what any of the questions had to do with what Pokemon would be suitable for his first. Whatever. He might as well get this over with as quickly as possible, so he answered mechanically without sparing any thought to the prompts.

Once he was done filling it out, Micah turned his attention back to the principal. "I'm done," he told her as he handed the test back to her. Pokemon time, now, right?

Maya stared up at the student as he filled out the test. She was not getting a good vibe from him. <his is not worth my time,> she said she she turned around. She walked over to the desk and lay down near it.
Sash noted that the student finished the test quickly. Either he knew himself very well or he was not taking it seriously. It did not matter much to her. The test was helpful, but any trainer could get along with any Pokemon if they tried. "Thank you," she said as she took the test back. Her eyes skimmed the results. Ah, she knew what to choose. She turned and made her way to the back of the room, dropping the paper off on her desk along the way. She came back to the student with three Pokeballs in her arms. "These are the three you may choose from." Then she released each one.

So. The moment of truth when it was determined which Pokemon would be his partner. He may have rushed through the test, but he answered all of the questions truthfully. Quite possibly with too much truth, if he were being honest. There had been no sugar-coating the answers when it came to answering, even if he probably should have been less blunt about himself in times.
When the available Pokemon were released, he crouched down to be at their eye levels. He still didn't put much weight on the test, but he couldn't help but think that all of the options fit him rather well. It would be hard to choose and to not second-guess himself at this point. He offered his hand out to each of them so that they could grow used to him as he appraised them.
Decisions, decisions. Houndour would be a great partner. They were loyal and stuck with their pack. Plus, they were good at working together, which would be great if he got himself into any two on two battles. Bulbasaur was awesome, too. From what he knew, they were also loyal, and they were gentle and caring as well.
But Trapinch. Trapinch reminded him of home. He hadn't lived overly close to where they tended to live, but he had seen them in the wild a few times before whereas he had only ever seen the other two on TV or with trainers of their own. Micah was hit with a wave of home sickness when he saw the Trapinch and decided that it was the one he not just wanted, but rather needed to quell the home sickness he already had started to feel. "I'll take the Trapinch," he said, confident his decision would be a good one. He patted it on the head before stand up and looking back at Principal Sash.
Was that it, then? 'Cause he was totally ready to get out of the principal's office and go bond with his new partner or meet other children. He'd be satisfied to not be around an adult.

Principal Sash nodded when the boy made his choice. Trapinch were certainly interesting Pokemon. She hoped this student would take good care of it. She returned the other two Pokemon back to their Pokeballs, and then she made her way to the back of the room to empty them into their proper places. When she came back, she was holding a back. "Here is Trapinch's Pokeball and a starter back. This is everything you need." She gave him a friendly smile as she held the items out to him. She hoped he would have a good time at the academy with his new partner.

Micah watched as the principal returned the other two Pokemon, keeping his new Trapinch close to his side. He knew he made the right choice for him, even if it might not have been a conventional choice. He was satisfied with it, though, and that was all that mattered to him. The other two options would have been great, and he wouldn't hesitate to try to catch either of them if he found them out in the wild, but Trapinch was what he wanted first.
He continued to watch as she put things away and got his things for him. He accepted both his Trapinch's ball and the pack, slinging the latter over his shoulder and slipping the ball into its spot in his belt. "Thank you very much," he replied politely, with a smile still on his face.
He assumed that was all that was needed of him, so he turned to leave. Micah left his new partner outside of its ball so that they could bond as they went off to do whatever. He paused at the door, and called back over his shoulder, "Have a nice day."
With that, Micah rapidly left the area as quickly as his partner was willing to follow. He hoped to never have to go back to the principal's office again. She seemed nice enough, he supposed, but it wasn't something he ever wanted to have to deal with again.
