Professor Oak's Lecture

OOC: You have a chance to take home a Kanto start Pokemon. In order to qualify, you must have eight roleplay post within the month of October. Post here having your character attending the lecture once this is achieved. IC: Principal Sash was excited about the new series of lectures that would take place each month. She thought it would be good for the students to hear about the different regions from the professors. It might even get them excited about visiting some of these regions. After all of the lectures concluded, she was thinking abut taking field trips to the regions. That would be fun!
Once everyone was gathered in the gym, she walked onto the stage and picked up the microphone. "Hello, everyone," she said brightly. Her Vulpix Maya stood by her, looking out at the students calmly. "Thank you for joining us today. It is my pleasure to introduce to you Professor Oak from the Kanto region!" She stepped back with her Pokemon while everyone applauded.
Professor Oak came forward and replaced the principal at the microphone. "Hello, Cherilli," he said. "I am pleased to be here. Today I am going to talk about the Kanto region. If you listen carefully, you will have a chance to win one of the three starter Pokemon in Kanto: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle." |

Kiki was looking forward to Professor Oak's lecture. She thought it was great that the professors were visiting the school to teach the students about the different regions. It was a topic not covered in their classes, and it was best learned straight from the source. Plus, who could pass up a free Pokemon? As a grass type lover, she was hoping to win the Bulbasaur. She walked into the gym alone to find that she was one of the first ones there. She headed to the front so she good get a good view. Once she had sat down, she looked up eagerly as Professor Oak began to speak. |

Eve Sosia was very excited to learn more about the Kanto region, seeing as she was a part of the region's team. She had heard Professor Oak, one of the renowned professors in the world who just so happened to be from Kanto, was coming to Cherilli to speak, and Eve wasn't going to pass up on the opportunity, especially seeing as there was a rumor going around that there was going to be a giveaway of starters from the region. All three Kanto starters were wonderful, and she didn't know whom she'd choose if she got the choice, but she wasn't going to miss the lecture.
Filing into the gym, she found herself gravitating toward the left hand side of the seating area, in the front third of the seats, and she made herself comfortable, keeping her Pokemon away instead of causing commotion letting them out. She sat comfortably, pulling out a notebook and a pen to take notes on what was said, crossing her legs so she had it easier to write and take notes, and as she listened she greatly hoped she could take home a new Pokemon to befriend and bond with. They were, after all, part of the region she was assigned to, and we're her favorite region-based starters of any region.

Sawyer was usually not one for lectures, especially voluntary lectures. However, her time at the academy had showed her how much she could learn from teachers and professors. Plus, Professor Oak coming to Cherilli was a big deal. It would be cool to just see him, and hearing him speak sounded great even to her. She could not wait to hear what he had to say about the Kanto region. Free Pokemon was not bad either. They were all probably strong if they had been raised by Professor Oak. She was eager to get a chance to win one. There was a small smile on her face as she entered the gym. She chose a seat in the back, but she was planning on giving her full attention to the lecture. |

Professor Oak lectured for an hour. As he was wrapping up, Principal Sash walked up on stage and held out to him a hat with tiny slips of paper inside. The Professor smiled as he took the hat. "Now I am going to draw to see who will get to choose one of the three Kanto starter Pokemon. First, let me introduce you to the Pokemon." He pulled a Pokeball from out of his lab coat. He released it, causing a Bulbasaur to appear in front of him. Two more Pokeballs revealed a Charmander and a Squirtle. All three looked around excitedly at the students.
Prodfessor Oak then chose one of the slips of papers from the hat he had been given. He uncrumpled the paper and held it close to his face to read it. "Kiki Jones?" He smiled as he looked in the audience for the owner of the name. "Congratulations. Come up here and choose your Pokemon." He found this all terribly exciting. He thought it was great that his little friends would be going to nice homes. |

Kiki blinked in surprise when she heard her name called out. She had actually won? She could not believe it. There was a wide grin on her face as she stood up and walked towards the stage. This was awesome! Wait until she told Alice! "Thank you, sir," she said upon reaching Professor Oak. She gazed down at the three Pokemon. There were all cute, but she already knew which one she wanted. "I'll take Bulbasaur, please." She was sure the grass type would make a great addition to her team. |

Professor Oak smiled at Kiki and nodded. "Very well. Here is its Pokeball." He returned the Bulbasaur and then handed the Pokeball to the girl. After she left the stage, he returned to the hat. "Now, I will choose our second winner." He shuffled around the slips of paper before pulling one out. He cleared his throat before reading it. "Eve Sosia. Please step up to the stage and tell me which of the two remaining Pokemon you would like."

Kiki gratefully took the Pokeball from Professor Oak. "Thank you." She smiled at the sphere in her hand. She had a new friend! She quickly walked off the stage so the next student could go up. She did not recognize the name of the person chosen next. As she sat down in her seat again, she wondered which Pokemon she would choose. |

Eva was fascinated by Professor Oak's lecture; she learned quite a bit and was getting ready to leave, having forgotten all about the Pokemon prize when she saw the hat being brought up and the three Pokemon that were available to be chosen from. She watched as a girl picked out Bulbasaur, who she'd decided would be her first choice, and then as the next name was called, she looked up, surprised. It was her! She quickly made her way up onto the stage where she knelt to meet the two remaining Pokemon options. They were both friendly, and she was fascinated by both of them quite a bit. She thought to the future, trying to picture herself with either of the two, and while she loved to imagine herself flying on the back of a Charizard, she also found herself eager to have a giant turtle-like Pokemon in her collection. But she had to make a decision, and quickly, didn't she? She thought it over and as she knelt down to their level, much in a similar way as she had done when receiving her starter, Serah, she met each of the two. She particularly seemed to like the blue turtle, who approached her right away, and she nodded. "I would like Squirtle, please." Flying types were all too common, and she'd read Charizard had a tendency to be hard to handle. That, coupled with the adorableness of a Pokemon like Squirtle, and she had no idea why this took her so long.
(OOC: sorry this took so long. I was debating in my head, and even still i ended up taking a whole long time.)

Professor Oak smiled at the girl's excitement. Yes, winning was fun. He waited patiently for her to decide, allowing her to take her time. He was used to trainers having to make hard decisions when giving them their first Pokemon. This was quite similar. "Excellent," he said when she finally made her decision. He returned the Squirtle to its Pokeball and then handed the sphere to the girl. "Here you go." He waited a moment for her to leave the stage. "Now I will draw to see who will take home this Charmander." It must be hard to be picked last, but he was sure Charmander would do well with its new trainer. The professor picked up the hat once again and pulled out a slip of paper. "Sawyer Fylan. Congratulations! Come up here and claim your prize."

Sawyer watched as the Bulbasaur was chosen and then the Squirtle. By the thurd drawing, she was losing hope that she would be chosen. Therefore, she was shocked to hear her named called out. The Charmander was hers? That was the Pokemon she had wanted in the first place. She could not believe her luck! After a moment, she realized it was time to take action. She stood up and hurried to the stage. "Thank you!" she said upon reaching Professor Oak. She knew attending this lecture would pay off. She smiled down at the Charmander, which was staring at her. "Hello, little guy. We're going to have fun together." |

"You're quite welcome," Professor Oak said to the girl. Yes, it seemed this arrangement would turn out quite well. He returned the Charmander and then handed the Pokeball to the student. "Take good care of it." He thought that process had gone great. He always loved giving out Pokemon to loving trainers. Cherilli Academy would be a great place for them all to learn and train. Once everyone was settled, he stepped back up to the microphone. "Thank you all for coming out today. That is the end of my lecture. I hope to see you all in Kanto real soon. Now let me end with a poem..."

Sawyer nodded at Professor Oak as she took the Pokeball from him. "I will. Thanks." Now she had three fire Pokemon. That was half of her team! Everything was going pretty well for her. She stepped off the stage and walked back to her seat, holding her Pokeball tightly in her hand. She could not wait to introduce her new Charmander to the rest of her Pokemon. She was on her way to acheiving her dreams! |
