Summer Tournament Semifinals Round A

OOC: This thread is for Kiki and Sawyer's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Kiki should post first. She also has the first move. IC: Principal Sash was excited for the next round of the tournament to begin. Two of the trainers from the previous tournament would be battling in this round, including the champion. She could not wait to see how they would fare this time. Once it was time to start, she stepped up tot he battlefield with a microphone. "Welcome to the semifinals!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "Today, I am excited to introduce Kiki from Johto and Sawyer from Unova. They will be competing for a spot in the championship battle!" She moved back to her place while everyone cheered. This was going to be good. |

It excited Kiki that she had made it to the semester tournament for the second time in a row. She noted that the first two seeds were the same as last year. Hoenn and Johto were certainly consistent! She wondered if she would end up facing Yami in championship round again. If she did, she wanted to win this time. She had grown a lot since the last time she battled him. Right now she was up against a girl from Team Unova. She did not recognize the name, but if she had won the previous battle, she must be a tough opponent. There was a smile on her face as she stepped out onto the battlefield. She was ready for anything. She had already decided which Pokemon she would use, so as soon as she reached her spot, she took out a Pokeball and tossed it in the air. "You're up, Crunch."
A Blitzle appeared with a flash of light. He seemed excited to be out of his Pokeball. He looked back at his trainer and grinned. <Are we going to have some fun?> He wanted to have some fun. Maybe they were going to battle. He loved battles. Ooo... what was that shiny thing on the ground over there?

Sawyer was proud of the way Kopa had fought in their previous battle. With him by her side, she was sure she had a chance of advancing to the final round of the tournament no matter how tough their opponent. She did not recognize the girl as she stepped onto the battlefield, but she gave her a small nod in acknowledgement. She was using a Bliztle, huh? That was not changing her strategy. "Kopa, I choose you!" She threw a Pokeball in the air, and the lion cub appeared before her, ready to battle. "Let's do this."
Kopa puffed out his chest in pride as he gazed across the field at his opponent. <Are you ready?> he said tot he Bliztle in a challenging tone. He was hoping for a great battle!

"Good luck," Kiki said to the girl. She found the Litleo absolutely adorable. She knew better than to say that at the beginning of the battle, though. The little guy looked tough, and she was not going to underestimate him. "Crunch, let's start off with Charge and Quick Attack!" She wanted to start off strong.
Ooo... it was a lion! <Hello there,> he said, swishing his tail in greeting. He blinked when his trainer gave him a command. It was time to battle. he took a second to charge up his electrical powers. Then he zipped forward to his his opponent with a Quick Attack. <Wee!>

Sawyer was impressed with the way that her opponent got right down to business. The Blizle was certainly fast. It was going to be hard for them to evade him, so she decided to rely on raw power. "Kopa, use Ember!"
Kopa watched as the Blitzle used Charge. He bet an electric attack was coming after this. The Quick Attack caught him off guard, and he had no time to dodge. He quickly got to his feet and glared at his opponent before opening his mouth and spitting fire at him.

Kiki noted that the Litleo was rather quick to react. He had a good spirit too. He was going to be a tough opponent. She, on the other hand, wanted to wait before releasing a lot of power. She was almost. "Good job, Crunch. Now use Tail Whip and Shock Wave!" That should do nicely.
Crunch was happy that his attack worked. He sure liked running! He was not happy about the fire, though. At least he had not been burned. He was going to have to watch out for the little lion. When his body was still turned, he moved his tail back and forth. Then he mustered up his electric power and sent it flying forth toward his opponent. <Ha!>

Sawyer was almost surprised by the wave of power that came from the Blitzle. They sure had planned for that attack to be strong. Well, she could use strategy as well. "You're fine, Kopa. Use Fire Spin and then Tail Whip!" That would certainly work.
Kopa braced himself for the electric attack. It sure hurt a lot. He wanted to use Leer right away, but he listened to his trainer. <You'll pay for that!> He sent flying forth from his mouth a spinning vortex of fire that encompassed the Blitzle and stared around him. Only then did the Litleo Leer at him.

Kiki did not know the Litleo knew Fire Spin. This was going to make the battle more difficult to win. She knew she could do it, though. "Alright, Crunch, let's try Quick Attack again." She wanted to give me the chance to use an attack he loved in order to keep him happy.
Crunch's eyes widened when fire suddenly engulfed him. <Hey!> He did not like this at all. Maybe he could try to outrun it! He picked up speed as he zipped back and forth. <Here I come!> Quick Attack was so much fun! He lowered his head when he got close to his opponent in order to strike him head-on.

"Hold on," Sawyer said to Kopa. With the Blitzle's speed, there was no point in dodging. They were just going to overpower him, and she had a plan to do just that. "Use Ember and then Work Up!" It was all starting to come together.
Kopa tensed as he watched the Blitzle come towards him. He was knocked off his feet but quickly recovered. He got a good distance away from his opponent before using his Ember against him. Then he worked himself up so his next attack would be even stronger.

Kiki was surprised at the strength of the Litleo's attack. This was going to be a tough batte, and she was going to have to use all of the skills she had in order to wim. It was time to get serious. "Alright, Crunch, use Shock Wave and Charge!" She did not know what was coming next, but with Work Up, it was bound to be powerful.
<Aaah!> Crunch cried out as he was hit by fire. He tried to run in circles, but this did not help the pain. He finally stopped and glared at the Litleo. Fine, he would be serious. He would win. He sent out his best electric attack to strike the little Pokemon. Then he charged himself up for the next one.

Sawyer was more focused on offense than defense at this point. Everything was going well so far, and she was sure she could win. "Good job, Kopa. Now use Headbutt!" He just had to hang in there a little bit longer...
Kopa endured the Shock Wave. He could make it. If that was the Blitzle's best attack, the Litleo could win. he knew another electric attack was coming after the Charge, so he had to get in his own attack now. He ran forward as quickly as he could, lowering his head at the last second for a strong Headbutt.

Kiki was again surprised at the force of the attack. Headbutt appeared to be a great move. Her own Pokemon was barely hanging on now. These last two attacks were likely to decide the battle. If nothing else, the Fire Spin would eventually take out Crunch. They had to end this now. "Tail Whip and Shock Wave!"
Crunch was flown back by the strength of the attack. <Hey!> he cried as he crashed to the ground. He managed to stand up very slowly. He was panting heavily, and he was not having fun anymore. Now he just wanted the battle to end no matter who won. He would try his hardest to make the victor him, though. After flipping his tail in the air, he sent forth another electrical wave.

"Quick, get on your back and use Ember!" Sawyer called. She was unsure if it would work, but she had to try something. Thankfully, the Blitzle's attack had not been strong enough to knock out her tough Litleo.
Kopa dropped to the ground and rolled over on his back. Just as his opponent was attacking, he bent his head and used Ember. The Shock Wave struck him hard and drained most of his energy. He did not bother getting up after finishing his own attack, though he had not yet fainted.

Crunch was consumed by flames again, this time from Fire Spin and Ember. The fire was too much for him, and he fell over on his side, fainted.
"Crunch!" Kiki cried. He had fainted near her, so she bent down to rub his fur. "Thank you for trying. You can take a rest now." She stood up after returning him to his Pokeball. It had been a fierce battle. Even though she had lost, she had learned a lot. She gave Sawyer a small smile. "Congratulations. Your Litleo it amazing."

The battle was quick, but Principal Sash found it quite exciting. Sawyer and Kopa were certainly fierce fighters. She could not wait to see what they would accomplish in the final round. As soon as the Blitzle fainted, she stepped forward and said, "Crunch is unable to battle. Kopa is the winner, and victory goes to Sawyer from Unova! Congratulations. We'll all see you in the final round of the tournament." It was bound to be great!
Kopa has gained three levels. He now knows Noble Roar!
Crunch has gained one level. He now knows Flame Charge! |
