Faith nodded. "Thanks. Yes, evolution is great." It did take a lot of work to get to that point. She could imagine how proud both of them would feel when they finally achieved it for their Pokemon. It was defiantly a goal worth going towards. She and Willy could do it together! "Fire Pokemon? We're kind of the opposite then!" She found it kind of amusing. Fire and Water. "We should battle sometime." While water had the advantage, she bet Sawyer was a pretty tough trainer. It would be fun to see what would happen.

Sawyer smiled slightly. Yes, they were kind of the opposite. "A battle would be great." She wondered how strong of an opponent Faith would be. As a water type trainer, she was bound to be difficult to beat, but Sawyer was up to the challenge.
"Sawyer?"
The girl looked up to see that Nurse Joy was standing before them. "Yes? Did you find out what's wrong with my Stunky?"
Joy nodded with a sad smile. "I'm afraid she has narcolepsy. It is a chronic sleep disorder that causes drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep. There is nothing physically wrong with her; she simply fell asleep during battle."
Sawyer let out a breath of relief. "That's great. I'm glad she's not hurt." But what was this sleep disorder business? She glanced at her new friend to see if she had any input.

Faith was glad to hear they could battle sometime. That would be fun. She also turned to Nurse Joy when she approached, and she listened attentively to her explanation. "I'm glad she's not seriously hurt," she said when there was a lull in the conversation. A sleep disorder did not sound so bad. At least it was not life-threatening. She gave Sawyer a sympathetic smile before turning back to Nurse Joy. "Is it very serious? Are there any complications that could occur?" She had never heard of narcolepsy, and she wanted to know what it was all about.

"There is nothing that poses an immediate danger," Nurse Joy said. "However, some lifestyle changes are in order." She glanced at Sawyer. "Your Stunky may fall asleep anywhere at anytime for a few minutes to a half hour, and you're going to have to know how to deal with that, especially if it occurs during battle again. There are other symptoms that may emerge, but the only other one I notice right now is cataplexy. This is a sudden loss of muscle tone that may also occur suddenly. It is brought on by strong emotions."
Sawyer nodded. "I see." This all was a bit overwhelming to her. She had not expected to have to take care of a Pokemon with a condition like this. She was not sure what she thought about it. "Is there any treatment available?"
"There is no cure, but there are some drugs we can try to help alleviate the symptoms. We can talk in my office."
"Ok." Sawyer turned to Faith. "You don't have to wait for me. I'll see you later."

Faith listened closely to Nurse Joy's words. It sounded like the Stunky was going to be fine. She was just going to have to make some life adjustments. Medicine would help as well. The next time she saw Sawyer, she hoped her Pokemon would be feeling a lot better. She nodded when she spoke to her. "Alright. I'll see you later. Good luck with your Stunky." She gave her one last smile before standing up and heading out of the Pokemon Center. That certainly had been an interesting experience! At least she had gotten a new friend out of it.

"Thanks," Sawyer said, giving Faith a small smile. She was glad to have met the girl. For a little while, she had helped take her mind off of her current problem. Now she would be alone to worry about Tammy. She hoped that Nurse Joy would be able to help her manage her problem. She needed everything to be alright. Taking a deep breath, she stood up and followed Joy to where she led. OOC: finished
