Since Mason had already left for his Pokemon journey, Sawyer took up many responsibilities on the farm. She wanted to start her own journey, but she was reluctant to leave her father with her younger brothers. Evan, always the rebellious one, left when he turned 10 without much thought to his family.
When Sawyer turned 13, her father told her he had enrolled her in Cherilli Academy. Derrick was the age Sawyer was when she started looking after the family, so he agreed to take up her job and look out for their remaining sibling. Her father thought she would enjoy the academy because she could keep in better contact and return home when she wanted. Sawyer was grateful for the opportunity and set out immediately. She has high hopes of becoming a great Pokemon trainer. All types of Pokemon fascinate her, but fire is her favorite type. She is confident she will be able to achieve all of her goals.
