Looking for Pokèmon [MOD]

Onatrux walked slowly off of the grounds of the school, having already decide where he was going to go to train up Alex, his Sandshrew. He headed straight towards a cave outside of the city, having heard a rumor that there were alot of Fire type pokèmon available in this cave. Onatrux paused for a minute at the mouth of the cave, nervous of the facts that; first off he had never battled a wild Pokèmon before, so he did not have a clue what to expect, and above that, his second worry was that he had not battled in about 2 years. He started to breathe gently to calm himself down, knowing that if he stayed near the opening of the cave he could easily run if he had to, he headed inside, eager to see what his first battle with his first real pokèmon would be like.

A Growlithe was prowling around the cave, looking for intruders and protecting his home. He lived with some other Pokemon in a tunnel near the entrance of the cave. It was dangerous being so close to the outside world, but he had to stay there because the stronger Pokemon got to live deeper in the cave. He did not mind all the time, tough. He enjoyed going out in the sun ever once in a while. Plus, patrolling was fun! Soon, he could smell intruders, which made the hair on his back rise. He stalked forward to greet him and hopefully catch him off guard. Soon, he caught sight of the trainer. The Growlithe stood in his way and growled at him. <What do you want?> He tried to look as threatening and menacing as possible to scare him away.  Gender: Male Level: 8 |

Onatrux heard growling and looked in the direction it was coming from, seeing the Growlithe. He smiles, and pulls out Alex's Pokèball, then calls out to the Growlithe, "So, would you like to battle? We are game. Let's go Alex!" With that last remark, he throws the Pokèball to release Alex, his Sandshrew. The Sandshrew looked at the Growlithe playfully, <Are you going to be my first opponent? That is great! Please don't hold back.> "Okay, let's get started with Sand Attack and Poison Sting." Alex whipped his tail to kick up a bunch of sand and grit, which headed directly at Growlithe, then followed up with a powerful sting from his claws, which were coated in a thin layer of poison.

Battle? The Growlithe actually did enjoy battling. If he could not scare away intruders, battling them often did the trick. Therefore, he was already prepared for the challenge. <Fine with me,> he said gruffly. He remained tense as he waited for the battle to begin. Soon, a Sandshrew appeared. The fire type looked it over quickly, making an assessment. This was his first battle? This was going to be interesting. <I suppose I am. And I won't.> He intended to win this battle. Now, which attacks did Sandshrew know? Before he could think long, he was hit by sand flying in his face. He backed up and tried to shake it off. He squinted his eyes so he could see, and he was just in time to be hit by the Poison Sting. He gritted is teeth as he endured the attack. Then it was hit turn. He looked around for the ground type and then aimed an Ember at him. Onatrux could tell by the way the Growlithe was looking around that it was looking for a ranged attack, "Alex, be ready to dodge!" His instinct was right, and when the opponent used Ember, Alex did dodge. Well mostly, he was still slightly hit on his right foot, but nothing serious. <Hey! That didn't hurt as much as i thought it would.> "Okay, let's try to finish this up with Mud Shot!" Came the command from Onatrux, which Alex readily complied with, picking up a ball of mud and throwing it directly at the Growlithe's face.

The Growlithe was disappointed that he did not get a direct hit. While h tried to think about what he should do next, he was hit by the Mud Shot. He let out a yelp of surprise as the force of the attack moved him back a little bit. That certainly had done a good deal of damage, but he was not done yet! He glared at the Sandshrew in anger before racing toward him, opening his jaws wide at the last second to Bite him. Onatrux knew exactly what to do as the Growlithe charged towards Alex, "Alex, use Defense Curl! Quickly!" He commanded, and the Sandshrew obeyed, curling up into a ball just before Growlithe's bite landed. This made it hard for Growlithe's teeth to do damage, and lessened the damage done considerably, also this action made Alex roll backwards away from his opponent. "Now, Alex! Use Mud Shot again!" Onatrux called out, hopeing that this would put the Growlithe in range for him to catch.

The Growlithe's eyes widened in surprise when he realized he was trying to bite a round thing. What had happened? He jumped back to evaluate the situation. Before he could figure it out, another Mud Shot was headed his way. Being the valiant creature he was, he chose to stand his ground. His endurance was being tested, but he knew he could hold on for a little bit longer. He had to defend his home! He angrily leered at the Sandshrew before trying out another one of his Ember attacks. Alex was intimidated by the leering eyes of the Growlithe, but when he heard Onaturx's voice he snapped out of it," Alex, Dodge again! Hurry!" Alex was able to make it out of the way of the attack, but was in no position to counter attack, which suited Onatrux just fine. Onatrux quickly shuffled thru the belongings in his backpack, and produced one of his Pokeballs. quickly throwing it at the very injured Growlithe, he hoped this would be the first Pokemon he had caught.

The Growlithe waited for another attack, but it did not come. He was not expecting the Pokeball, so he did not try to dodge it. He was sucked inside the sphere, his eyes wide in surprise. If he had a little more strength left, maybe he would have been able to resist the confinement, but he knew enough to know when to give up. The Pokeball shook several times before finally growing skill. The fire type was caught. Onatrux watched the Pokèball carefully. One shake. Two shakes. Three shakes. After what felt like forever, the ball lets out a pinging noise to confirm the pokemon has been captured. Walking over to the pokeball, he picks it up and places it on his belt, then turns to Alex, "Well, it looks like we have another friend. Let's head back to town and get rested up, we have alot of training to do to get ready for our first Leader battle." The little Sandshrew could not contain his excitement, yelling "SHREW!" In response as Onatrux raised his pokeball for Alex to return to. Turning on his heels, Onatrux left the cave and started down the mountain, the first few rays of dawn's light making the way visable.
