OOC: Ah, okay.
It makes sense to have the added contest level gains because there is more to them. I can be fine with these rules because it's not that big of a deal, but I just feel like the battle levels should be determined by the same way any battle levels are determined.

Faith smiled at the other girl and nodded. "Thank you. I've been working hard on them. Good luck in whatever you plan to do next." It had been a fun contest battle, and Zoey seemed pretty nice. She wondered if she was going for contests or had just decided to try it one time. Either way, it had been an enjoyable experience. Now she was going to the final round! Se could already feel her second ribbon in her hands. She smiled down at her Kecleon, who has standing proudly. "Let's go, buddy." Soon she would be back on the stage! OOC: Perhaps we could have the same rules but then just add one level because it's a contest?

OOC: But they're already getting one level for participating and one for winning the contest. I'm fine with that part. Those two get added to the normal battle rules.
Or do you mean you get one for participating, one for winning the contest, one for making your opponent faint, and then 1-3 depending on the level difference of you and your opponent?

OOC: I mean one level for participating and then 1-3 levels based on normal rules.

OOC: Oh. I guess. The normal rules include an additional level if you're battling another trainer.

OOC: Right. That would be included. Let's start a discussion in Staff Talk. Rule changes would need to be voted on anyway.
