Sawyer could hardly believe the day she had been waiting for all her life had finally arrived. It was time for her to obtain her first Pokemon! She would not be going on a journey like two of her brothers, but that could wait. If she attended school first, she could meet knew friends and learn as much as she could so that she would be totally prepared for the adventure that awaited her. Besides, she had heard there were tons of places around the academy that contained cool Pokemon. The Lava Cave especially interested her. She wondered what kind of neat fire Pokemon should would find there.
But she was getting ahead of herself. First, she needed to meet her new partner and companion. She could not wait to see who she would get to choose from. As the typical starters usually contained a fire Pokemon, she hoped there was at least one from her to choose form as well. If not, she could always try to catch some later. There was a determined stride in her step as she walked down the hall. Finally, she arrived outside of the principal's office. She wanted to barge in and immediately announce her presence, but her father had taught her better manners than that. Retraining herself, she simply knocked on the door several times. Then she waited rather impatiently for a response.

Having finally organized and tidied everything in the office, Vice Principal Turner sat at the desk, drinking some hot tea. Once again, Principal Sash had left him with the duties that came with being in the office. Where she was always going, he hadn't the slightest idea, but she was busy doing something. Anyways, for once he could relax without worrying about organizing, even though he found it fun and enjoyable. His Lairon sat beside him, enjoying his rest as well.
Their relaxation was cut short, however, when he heard a knock on the door. Spike his Lairon immediately made his way over to it. Turner followed shortly. When he opened it, there appeared a student. He watched her carefully, wondering if she would give him any grief like the others. Why should he expect anything less. "What do you want?" he asked, his tone unfriendly as always. She better not be in trouble because he hated dealing with the troublemakers.

Sawyer did not expect the response she received from the man standing before her. This could not be the Principal Sash she had heard about. She figured he had to be Vice Principal Turner. He did not seem very friendly. Boy, she was so lucky to get him. His attitude did not matter, though. She had come to get her first Pokemon, and she was not going to leave without one. She straightened up to address him. "I am Sawyer Fylan. I am a new student, and I have come to receive my first Pokemon." She hoped he would hurry about and get the procedure rolling. She did not want to stand around talking, and it did not seem like he did either. It was in both of their best interests to continue this thing along.

A new student. Turner turned around, leaving the door open for her, and headed for the desk. Sash had definitely been there; the draws were getting to be a mess. Sighing, he spent a moment trying to sort through them to find the personality test. Finally, he found it. "Here," he said, handing the test to the girl. "Fill this out quickly." Without another word, he returned to the desk and its messy drawers. He should never have thought his work was done. Now, he had to organize the drawers. At least he enjoyed it.
Spike walked up to Sawyer. <Hello!> He nudged her with his nose, hoping she would give him attention. Most students ignored him, and he wondered why. Was something wrong with him? His trainer cared for him, though, so he was fine. He just liked meeting new people, particularly new students. They were fun and interesting to meet!

Sawyer waltzed right in after Turner. He could have been a little more polite to new students. "What has got your knickers in a bunch?" she said, speaking before thinking. She roughly grabbed the test from him. Fill it out quickly? Maybe she would not do so just to annoy him, though it seemed the mere presence of another human being was enough to do that to him. Really, this place needed new management.
She was momentarily distracted by the Lairon. "Hello there, buddy," she said, her face instantly brightened. She loved Pokemon, and this one seemed very friendly. "You could not be that guy's Pokemon, could you?" He seemed much too nice. She pent down and rubbed his head with her free hand. "I hope you're doing well being stuck here in this room." Especially with Turner as a trainer.
Sawyer sat down next to Spike and took out a pen. Then she filled out the test, taking as much time as she needed. Several minutes later, she was finished. She patted Spike's head as she stood up. Then she waltzed over to Turner. "Here you are, Mr. Cranky." Technically he had not told her his name yet. She held the test out to him and smirked.

Turner blocked out Sawyer's words as he went through the papers. He began by taking all of them out and setting the messed up stack, which was once more than one stack, and placing it on the desk. Then, sitting down, he carefully went through it, placing each in its appropriate pile. He looked up when the student came up to him with the test. At her words, he narrowed his eyes at her. "That is Vice Principal Turner or Mr. Turner to you," he said angrily as he stood up, looking down at her with a dark look. "You will not disrespect me unless you wish to receive a detention."
He continued to stare down on her for a moment before abruptly leaving her to walk to the area of the room where the Pokemon were kept. There, he looked over her answers. So, she was stubborn and had a bit of a temper. In addition to what he had seen of her so far, she sounded like a troublemaker. That was just great. He knew the perfect Pokemon for her. He found them quickly and walked back to the girl. He gave her a stern look before letting out all three of the Pokemon. "Choose one," he ordered, his tone still harsh. He should just deny her her first Pokemon. Unfortunately, Sash would not allow that.
Spike smiled when Sawyer pet him. <I'm fine. My trainer really does take good care of me.> And he cared about him. He was always able to help calm him down whenever he got angry, though he had to wait until the source of the anger left. When she sat down next to him, he eagerly looked over to see what she wrote, even though he didn't know how to read. He frowned slightly when she made his trainer angry. Oh, dear... However, the appearance of the Pokemon distracted him. <Hello!> He waited eagerly to see which one would be chosen.

Sawyer raised her eyebrows at Turner's comments. Was there a needle in his underwear? She decided to let it go and not test him. She did not want to get in trouble on the first day of school. She would just have to find other unfortunate students who had encountered him and gossip about him. Yeah, that would do. For now, she would focus on obtaining a Pokemon. "Exciting, right?" she said to Spike, smiling down at him.
She looked up when Turner returned. Excellent. She was immediately drawn to the fire type, but she decided to examine the other two first. Spearow were pretty cool, but they had a nasty temper. She wondered if that was why Turner had chosen it. Shieldon were awesome, and she could see herself training with one. However, they were more of a defensive type of Pokemon, and she preferred offense. That left the little lion cub. They were confident and brave like her. They also could be quite proud, but she had to admit that she could be too. She felt like they could really understand each other. "I'd like the Litleo, Mr. Turner." Yes! Her own fire Pokemon!

Turner stared at the student for a moment after she spoke. Then he put all of the Pokemon but the Litleo in their Pokeballs and headed for the storage area. Once they were safely and neatly set back in their proper places, he picked up a backpack and walked back to Sawyer. "Here," he said, shoving the backpack and remaining Pokeball in her hands. "Now, leave." He wanted to go back to relaxing, but after this encounter he doubted he would be able to. He would probably need to find something to organize first.
Spike smiled at Sawyer. He was glad she liked the lion Pokemon. <Good luck and have fun!> he said. He glanced at his trainer. He hoped he would be able to make him feel better once the new student left. It was sad that new students always happened to see the worst of Turner. He really wasn't a bad guy. There was a whole different side to him that only he knew. Maybe someday others would too.

Sawyer almost forgot her dislike for Turner as she was handed the Pokeball and backpack. "Thank you," she said as she took them. She was glad this encounter was over. Now she could go out and start her adventure! She smiled at Spike and nodded, understanding his meeting. "Have a good time here." She wondered how well she got along with his trainer. Then she looked down at the Litleo. "Hey, buddy, let's go have some fun." She would have to think of a name for him later. The Litleo was glad to be chosen. He wanted to go off on an adventure as well. He eager followed his new trainer out of the door.
