OOC: This thread is for Nate and Gary's battle, and it occurs second in roleplay time. Nate should post first. He also has the first move. IC: Principal Sash watched the first battle with great excitement. After the trainers left, it was time for the second battle to begin. She stood up, walked over to the battlefield, and spoke into he rmicrophone: "Wasn't that great? Now it is time for the second battle of the day. Now, please welcome Nate from Sinnoh and gary from Kanto!" She smiled as the audience applauded. |

Nate was proud of his accomplishments for the semester. he always worked hard to reach his personal goals, and it was an added bonus if he was recignized by the school for his achievments. He was excited to be in the semester tournament. He wanted to give it his best so that he could win for his team. There was a smile on hsi face as he entered the battle area. He could not wait for it to begin! Now it was time to choose his Pokemon. He nodded at the Eevee by his side. "We're doing tis together, Watcher." Watcher nodded back at him and took several steps forward. They had been together from the start, so it was only natural that they would be partners now. Gary Oak strode confidentally onto the battle field. He had a feeling he would end up in the semester tournament again. He always worked hard to earn as many points as possible so that he could get here. He was ready to win it all! He would not let down himself, his Pokemon, or his team. He nodded at Nate, his friend, as he stood opposite of him. Then he pulle dout a Pokeball and kissed it before releasing the creature inside. "You're up to battle, June!" A tiny bug appeared before him. She seemed nervous, but she stood her ground against the Eevee. Nate watched as Gary took his place opposite of him. He nodded at him in return. The two of them were friends, and it would be interesting to battle him. He was choosing a Joltik? The Pokemon was small, but Nate knew better than to underestimate her. "Let's do this, Watcher. Start off with Swift!" He wanted to see how the bug type moved.
Watcher smiled at the Joltik that appeared. <Hello there.> She seemed nice. Maybe after the battle they coul become friends. Right now, he was focused on winning. At the command, he turned and swished his tail, sending sharp stars flying at the tiny Pokemon. Gary held back as the Swift attack struck his Pokemon. Swift was a fast attack, and he doubted there was much the Joltik could do to dodge it. He was just going to have to strike back twice as hard. "You'll be fine, June. Use Screech and Electroweb!" That should be sufficient for a first attack.
June trembled as the sharp stars came flying at her. She grimaced in pain when they hit. She was still not very used to battles, but she would try her hardest to win. It was easy to let out a loud Screech at her opponent. Then she sucked in a sharp breath, letting it out in a web that was sizzling with electricity. Nate was not expecting such a powerful attack from such a tiny Pokemon. It was clear that he was going to have to come up with a good strategy in order to defeat the Joltik. "Alright, use Tail Whip and Quick Attack!" That should help even the scales a little bit.
The Screech hurt Watcher's ears and distracted him. He was unable to dodge the electric web that came straight at him. The sticky web covered him, and he made a face in discuss. At least it appeared that he was still able to move. He whipped his tail before running forward, zipping back and forth to gain speed. Gary was impressed with the Eevee's resilience. However, it was not going to be enough. Once again, he did not tell his Pokemon to dodge. If he saw a chance for it in the future, though, he would take it. For now, he would try the next best thing. "Thunderwave!" Hopefully the Eevee would become paralyzed, and then they could strike hard!
June watched the Eevee's tail in fascination. It was so pretty! Startled, she froze as she realized he was now coming towards her. She was struck and flown backward. She winced in pain as she slowly got up. Then she sucked in her energy and released it as electricity. She was glad this attack did not require her to move. "Good job, Watcher," Nate said. It looked like it was hard for the Joltik to dodge. They could use this to their advantage. Unfortunately, the Thunder Wave hit it's mark. "Try to move!" He gritted his teeth when he saw that the Eevee was frozen in place. The only thing he could do now was wait.
Watcher grinned happily after he hit the Joltik. <Ha!> If he kept this up, he could win the battle. His eyes widened slightly when he heard the other trainer's command. Uh oh! There was nothing he could do to dodge the wave of electricity coming his wave. He cringed as it coursed through his body. He tried to move forward, but he found that he was stuck. What now? Gary smirked when he saw that the Eevee could not move. His plan was working perfectly. Since June was so small, it was hard for her physical attacks to be accurate. Now, however, there was no way Watcher could dodge. He was going to make the most of this opportunity. "Fury Cutter!" He hoped this would title the battle in his favor. Now, there was only one more part to his plan.
June let out a breath of relief. That Eevee could not attack her any longer. This made her more confident in her own abilities. Maybe she could win this! He darted forward as quickly as her little legs would allow her. When she neared her opponent, she prepared for her attack. The pincers on her mouth grew longer and turned a crimson color. She leapt at the Eevee and slashed him repeatedly with these pincers. Nate hated having to watch his Pokemon get hit like that with no way to stop that. "You've got to move!" He let out a breath of relief when he saw a sign of movement form the Eevee after the Joltik's attack ceased. Now he had to take the battle back. "Use Sand Attack and Swift!" He hoped this would get the bug far away from him again.
Watcher struggled to move, but it was no use. The Joltik's pincers hurt, but he could not get away from them. Once the pain subsided, he was able to move his body. This was his chance! He spun around and kicked up sand in the air. Then he swished his tail to send sharp stars at his opponent. Gary thought everything was going quite well. He had to admit, Nate's own attacks were clever. However, they were not going to be enough. "June, quick, use String Shot on Watcher's belly!" He watched as the Joltik was struck by the Sand Attack but managed to attach her web to her opponent. "Now attach yourself to him and use Leech Life!" If this worked, it would give them the definite advantage in the battle. She just could not be hit by those stars...
June jumped back after finishing her attack. That was actually quite fun! She gulped when the Eevee began to move again. Oh no! She would have to act fast if she wanted to avoid being hit. While the sand came her way, she aimed her string at Watcher's belly. Once it stuck on, she crawled up the web, ignoring the sand, until she was stuck to the furry Pokemon. Now she was in a great position to suck the energy out of him! Nate was surprised at his opponent's tactics. He would have never thought to use String Shot and Leech Life like that. Gary was really smart! Well, Nate would have to be clever as well if he wanted to win this battle. How was he going to get that bug off of his Pokemon? Then something came to him. "Watcher, use Tickle to loosen her hold on you, then use Quick Attack!" He hoped this combination of attacks would work.
Watcher tried to dodge the sticky string, but it was no use. The Joltik was suddenly stuck onto him. At least he was still not paralyzed. He took a deep breath to calm himself down. He could get out of this situation. He put his tail under his belly and started to tickle the Joltik with it, hoping to cause her to let go. Then he quickly darted forward to make her fall off. If he did fall, he would turn around and attack her. Gary lifted his eyebrows in surprise when Watcher used Tickle. He did not know the Eevee knew that move. It seemed to have its intended effect. Oh well. As long as his own Pokemon was going to be hit, he might as well make it worth it. "Quick, use Electroweb!" June just had to hold on a little bit longer and she could win this.
June laughed when she felt the Eevee's tail on her buddy. That tickled! She supposed that explained the name. She was surprised when her wiggling caused her to be free from the web, and when Watcher began to run, she fell to the floor. She stood up in a alight daze. She had just enough time to shoot out an electric web at her opponent as he came running straight at her. She let out a small 'oof' as she was struck. Nate winced as the Electroweb hit his Pokemon. He could tell that Watcher was down to the last of his strength. If he still wanted a chance to win, he would have to use his strongest combination and then dodge the rest of the Joltik's attacks. "Alright, Tail Whip and Swift!" It was all or nothing now!
Watcher felt the electric web on his face right before he hit the Joltik. He stood in place and tried to shake it off, but it was no use. He hoped the sticky web would not hinder him in any way. He was glad that his next moves did not require any running. He bent down and whipped his tail back and forth. Then he sent his Swift attack hurling at June. Gary had to admire Nate and Watcher's fighting spirits. However, he was going to win this battle. The Eevee was down to his limits, but June still had enough strength left to finish this. He did not bother asking her to dodge, for he knew she could take it. "One last Electroweb!" He thought this would finally do it. He could feel victory in his grasps.
June was relieved that her web slowed down the Eevee somewhat. However, she was still not able to dodge his attack. She was blown off her feet and fell on her back. He scrambled onto her feet as soon as the attack ceased. Then she aimed another electrical web at her opponent. She hoped this would end the battle. She was getting tired!
