A fine day it was and would continue to be as we find our hero calmly walking down the beaten path of the forest outside of Shupert City, whistling a low and happy tune along his way as he mindlessly walked down the trail. His jacket fluttered behind him slightly in the weak breeze and the golden buttons shone in the reflection of a bright sun framed in a sea of blue barely a cloud in sight to hide the fiery ball of gas from view. He could hear distant chirping and from time to time a scuttle nearby, but so far nothing had yet caused him to need to pause and potentially pull out Emia the Annoying. Huh, that actually flowed pretty well. He just hoped that whatever he came across was friendly, he wasn't really looking for a fight at the moment.

A young Starly was flying over the treetops, enjoying the view, when she heard whistling coming from below. It did not sound like any Pokemon she had ever heard, but she could not resist such a beautiful sound. She swooped down low towards the noise. She was surprised to see that it was a human who was whistling. She was not afraid like other Pokemon would be though, and she decided to interact with him. <Hi!> she said, flying a foot away form his face. <I can sing too!> Then she landed on a nearby tree branch, took a breath so deep that her chest puffed out, and let out a loud, annoying noise that was almost too bad to be a whistle. Makussu would continue his walk down the path, his backpack jiggling a bit from time to time from the Dragon egg that was currently inside it from time to time. It had been doing that incredibly frequently lately unlike his other eggs, so he wasn't sure if it was safe to leave it alone. Little did he know that his egg was around eleven days past it's hatching date, the creature wanted out! He would almost jump straight up into the air as suddenly a rather plump gray feathered pokemon appeared in his vision. What was this one called again? Gray feathers...a Pidove? Nope, the syllables it was making were way different. Ly...sta...that's right, this was a Starly! He would let out a chuckle at the birds attempt to replicate his sound, coming out rather badly but still. Ah well, not all birds could be perfect warblers it seemed. Giving it a long whistle as a sign of approval despite how bad it was he would give the pokemon a smile and wave before he actually would jump as his backpack began to vibrate and shake from the force of the egg. Quickly pulling the egg out he would place it on the ground quickly and carefully before watching in awe at the little thing that seemed so desperate to get out. The Starly chirped happily when he heard the trainer's approval. Singing sure was fun! She was about to say more when she noticed the now-glowing egg. Ooo... She had never seen an egg hatch before! Pieces of shell broke off before it was no longer an egg and instead a Druddigon sat there. The dragon type looked up at the human curiously. The Starly flew down to stand next to him. <Hello there, baby!> She wondered if they could be friends. Makussu would stare in astonishment at the new life that sat before him, vibrant reds and blues painting it's body wonderful colors. If he was right, it was a Druddigon! A rather small Druddigon it seemed, but that was to be expected seeing as it was just freshly hatched. <...Papa?> it said in a sort of dreamy fascination which almost made Makussu double back because he could swear that he had just been called father by a pokemon, which humans aren't supposed to hear. It turned it's head towards the Starly. <...Mama?> Yep, he wasn't crazy, it was back to saying syllables of it's own name again. Bending down to eye level with the newborn dragon he would point to himself very seriously before going "Da." really simply to it in order to ensure some sort of relationship from the start. He had heard of stories of baby pokemon wandering off in search of parents they had never found because proper relationships hadn't been made with the trainer, he didn't want that to happen to the little guy.

The Starly tilted her head to the side as she watched the Druddigon curiously. Did he just call her Mama? That was not right. She had never laid an egg before, and certainly not one so big. She was not the tiniest of bird Pokemon, but the dragon type already rivaled her in size. She eyed his wings, wondering if he could fly. <No, not your Mama,> she said to correct him. She hoped his trainer would be able to take care of this. She was not ready to be a parent yet! She craned her head to the sky and contemplated flying off. Gender: Female Level: 6

Oh geez, Makussu knew that look when he saw it. Instant confusion, apparently it was looking for dear mother now and there was no-one to be seen. "Um...your mom's at home! That's right!" he said quickly as he began to see a shine in the Druddigon's eyes showing that it was getting emotional. Gradually said shine began to fade as it cautiously took steps on shaky legs and eventually found itself hugging Makussu's leg with all of its might, apparently taken with its new "da". A genuine smile would come over his face at the sight. "Its beautiful, isn't it? The first moments of life where a baby learns to love its parents. Although, I don't suppose either of us are quite ready for full on parenting, are we?" That was directed at the starly, although deep down he knew it applied to him as well. Emia and the rest were going to have their hands full soon, he had more eggs that he knew were on the way soon just chilling at home. "I'm an adventurer at heart you see. I love the wind and rain in my face, new lands to explore and new people to meet. To me, this place is my newest adventure. But oh, to see the rest of the world...you understand that, right?"

The Starly watched the Druddigon curiously. So, this was what a newborn was like. She wondered if she would ever have one of her own. Like the trainer said, though, she was not ready. She hoped the human knew what he was getting into. This little one was his responsibility now whether he liked it or not. She was sure parenthood had many great moments like this one. Her interest piqued when the human talked about adventure. <I love being free and exploring new places,> she said. Most Pokemon like her would try to stay away from humans so as not to get caught, but she found them too interesting to stay away. Besides, she would not mind having a trainer if it was the right one. <I'm too little to explore much of the world, though. I need to train and become bigger!> Gender: Female Level: 6

Makussu was content to keep prattling along in the middle of nowhere to a newborn dragon and a wild bird like an insane person for the time being. The warmth that he felt emanating from the red and blue scaled lizard that seemingly was trying to cut off the blood circulation in his leg even though the hold it had on him was quite weak. What freaked him out all of a sudden though, was the Starly. While most people wouldn't be afraid of a pokemon making pokemon noises, it seemed that suddenly this one had switched to human language for a good ten seconds on him. Okay, this either meant two things. He was either going progressively insane and voices in his head were impersonating the wildlife and his pokemon, or he had some freaky ability to sometimes hear pokemon. Sure, it was a thing you heard about from time to time in the news, but that tended to come from psychics who spent their lives dedicating themselves to translating the pokemon language. Last he checked, Makussu was no psychic. Deciding to figure out once and for all if he had lost his marbles he would respond to the little birds comment. "You know...I could help you get bigger. Actually, I'm helping a lot of pokemon out it seems in their quest to get bigger. Think you're up for it?" Hopefully the way he said it he'd either actually be communicating with the Starly or making an offer of some sort if he was, in fact insane. The question was, would the little one accept it?

The Starly listened to the boy carefully. He could help her get bigger? That sounded exciting! Wait a second, why was he talking to her like he knew exactly what she had said? Yes, she often talked to humans and they talked back to her, but that was different. They always had to guess at what she was saying. This trainer had used her own words. Maybe it was just a coincidence. No matter, what he was saying sounded pretty good. He seemed nice enough, and she liked trainers who helped Pokemon become bigger and better. <Yes, thank you! That sounds good to me.> She was not sure if he actually could understand her or not, so she flapped her wings so he would get the message. Gender: Female Level: 6

Actively trying to listen to a pokemon's speech and actually trying to comprehend it was a much tougher ordeal than Makussu expected. Think trying to listen to someone a good hundred yards away in the middle of a rainstorm and you can pretty much figure out how hard it is to make out "starly" from "I'll have some fries with that." Somehow though, he was able to catch a couple words from the syllables of the bird's name, said would being yes, you and good. As she flapped the wings as if to emphasize her message a smile would spread wide across his face as he realized that he not only had a new partner, but actually could understand pokemon if only barely so. "Alright then! Glad you think that. Anyways..." He would sling his bag off his shoulder and pull out a pokeball from one of the pockets, fumbling with it before it enlarged to full size. "If your going to travel with me and get stronger, I'll need to tag you with this okay? That way nobody can steal you away like a poacher and you won't get chased out of places that only let tamed pokemon in." He would then slowly and gently tap the poke ball on the Starly's head, causing it to get sucked inside if it didn't decide to suddenly back out of the whole thing. Throughout the entire process the little Druddigon would be looking up at his newfound Da, trying to figure out what the heck he was talking about.

The Starly thought this was a good idea. If she was going to become bigger, she had to stay safe. This trainer did not seem so bad, and his baby dragon was really cute. She wondered what life with him would be like. With this thoughts, she let the Pokeball suck her inside and did not resist; then the ball went still.
