"Hmmm." It was a nice day. The sky was clear. The sun was shining brightly. A picture perfect day to go out and live your life, or in other cases just lay out on a bench in the courtyard and chill in the shade. Which is exactly what Shun happened to be doing. The boy was at peace, as he looked up passed the branches of leaves that hung above him, towards the sun. He really enjoyed nature and it's beauty, a testament to that being all the time he spent in Johto doing what he was currently. All day he would lay out in a field near Mahogany town, just snoozing. That is, until his little sister came to drag him back home for dinner. Soon the wind began to pick up, causing the leaves to dispatch from their branches and dance carelessly in midair. The sight was thought provoking, but at that moment the alarm on his watch went off. Very, very loudly. -BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Click...- Why would he had set an alarm to go off? And now look, the moment was ruined. His mind couldn't even remeber what he was thinking about before it started beeping. Taking a couple moments to recuperate his thoughts. It hit him. "Oh...Its time..."Sluggishly, he sat himself upright and continued to thrust his arms up into the air for a good stretch, before reaching down to grab his red/white backpack. Standing up from the bench, he put only his left arm through the strap and began to walk towards the principal's office. The time had come to get his pokemon from the academy head, Principal Sash, he was really looking forward to it. ~Some time later~ Arriving at the principal's door, Shun gave a few light knocks before entering and annouced himself plus his reason for intruding. "Hello, I'm Shun Rias. I came here to recieve a pokemon, oh and sorry if I'm disturbing you."

The boy was to be disappointed for a moment. The room was empty save for a Vulpix lying down by a desk. Maya, which was the Pokemon's name, leaped to her feet when Shun entered. She advanced towards him, growling. She did not like strangers in the first place, but they were even more threatening when her master was not here. What if this was a troublemaker?
A few seconds later, the door opened and Principal Sash walked in. She was carrying a stack of papers in her arms. "It's ok, Maya, I'm back," she said to the Vulpix. Maya looked at Shun suspiciously before letting her fur lie flat and sitting down. She would leave him alone... for now.
"Sorry about that," Sash said apologetically to the student. She never liked leaving her office empty when she knew that new students could be stopping by, but Vice Principal Turner had been nowhere to be found. "I had to print out more copies of the test new students take to receive their first Pokemon." She walked over to her desk and set the papers down. She grabbed one before walking back to Shun. "I'm Principal Sash. Are you here for a Pokemon? If so, you'll need to fill this out." She handed him the paper. |

Entering the principal's office he had discovered no one was there. What a bummer. Letting loose a light sigh, he began to massage the back of his neck as he thought of what he would do now. One thought that crossed his mind was to leave, take a nap somewhere cozy, then come back to try again. Nah, he was already rested enough as it is. It was a pretty tempting thought anyway. An alternative would be to look for other students and start making friends...or rivals. A rival would be cool. Well, friendship is good and all but a rivalry is far more competitive and results in a mutual bond that pushes both parties to new levels. [Iron sharpens iron, as they say.] Yeah, that was exactly what Shun wanted.
Turning to go out the door, he caught the sound of a growl. Which was wierd, as he was sure that nothing was in here from his first observation. Taking a look about the room once more, he still saw nothing that could produce such a sound. Until finally he gazed down. Catching the view of a multi - tailed, red fox. Otherwise known as a vulpix. Shun would stare at the fox pokemon only for a moment more while it growled at him, clearly showing that he somehow felt as a threat. In response, his crimson eyes blinked quickly a couple of times before speaking. Oh, hey there. Don't worry, I'm leaving now so you can relax. Shun spoke calmly and respectively to the vulpix. He didn't want to anger it in anyway, or anymore than he might have already. Plus, since this pokemon was here, one could imply that it was the principal's. Therefore, this vulpix was to be treated with the same respect. Once again taking his leave or attempting to take his leave, the door opened to reveal principal Sash with a handful of documents. In her entrance she had apparently called off her vulpix, who he found out to be nicknamed Maya. Wait...Maya is his sister's name. Interesting. Anyway, she then proceeded to apologize for her pokemon's actions, which wasn't really necessary. It was only natural for a pokemon to be protective of something that belongs to their partner. All in all, it was a good thing. Hm? Oh, don't worry about it. By the way, thats a really nice name you gave your vulpix.
Apparently, the load of papers she was carrying were the tests that decides on which pokemon that suit you. After she had handed him a copy, he reached into his pocket for a pen and sat down in a nearby seat then proceeded to fill out the questionnaire.

After finishing the questionnaire, he would get up from his seat and move to hand her the paper. As he did so his mind pondered on what type of pokemon matched him. He mentally went through his favorite pokemon and pokemon types, he was becoming a little anxious.

Sash smiled at the student's compliment. "Thank you," she said.She thought it was a good name too. it seemed to fit the little fire fox. The Vulpix watched the student fill out the test, but she did not do anything. Her trainer was glad she was behaving herself. Sash worked on putting her papers in their proper place while she waited for the student to finish.
She turned and took the paper form the boy when she handed it to him. "Thanks. Let me just look this over." Her eyes scanned the paper. Several good ideas came to mind, and she hoped he liked one of them. She set the paper down in another pile before moving to the back of the room. When she came back, she was juggling three Pokeballs in her arms. "Here are your choices." She released them all as best as she could.

And there they were, in a flash of silver, the pokemon had been released from there pokeballs. Shun couldn't hold back his smile as he looked over his options for his soon to be partner. However, there was the fire-type pokemon, cyndaquil. A starter in his own region, so he instantly recognized it from the others. He had already decided. The fire pokemon was a good choice for a partner, and it kind of matched his style. Not to mention that fire types were among his favorites, including dark, dragon, and ice. Kneeling down on one knee, Shun gazed into the cyndaquil's eyes...which seemed to be closed. "Yo, lets me and you become partners. We'll be like family, I promise. And together we will grow stronger." After a moment, the flames on it's back grew bigger as it nodded with vigor. "CYN!" With a big grin, he placed his hand down right in front of cyndaquil. An invitation which the pokemon took as it happily scurried up Shun's arm and latched itself onto his shoulder. "Principal Sash, I've chosen this cyndaquil."

Sash smiled at his choice. She liked the little fire mouse and was glad he had a new home now. "Good choice," she said as she put the remaining Pokemon in their Pokeballs. "Here is the Cyndaquil's Pokeball. I will be right back." She handed the student the Pokeball and then went to the back of the room again. After a short moment, she returned with a backpack in hand. "Here is your starter pack. It should have everything you need." She gave him a smile as she gave the backpack to him. "Welcome, and have a great first semester."
Maya watched the student carefully as he interacted with the Cyndaquil. She was glad this meant he would be leaving soon. She walked closer to her trainer when she came back, her eyes still on Shun.
