This is always interesting to read about. Anyway, just list some songs your characters would either listen to or that describe them. A reason and maybe a few lyrics from the song might be nice as well! I guess I'll go first with Dawn, to give an example. Please don't post links, though, unless you're entirely certain your song is completely clean.
“Power and Control” -- Marina and the Diamonds

It's Marina and the Diamonds! What hyper-feminine, headstrong, confident female character can't identify with her songs?

Dawn is completely and shamelessly the epitome of every mean girl stereotype you've seen on television. Unlike in the anime, she doesn't have her adventure with Ash and Brock to teach her humility and help her to mature though, she could obviously take a chill pill through roleplay.
"Applause" -- Lady Gaga
"give me the thing that i love (turn the lights on) / put your hands up, make 'em touch, touch (make it real loud)"
This one... doesn't really need explaining.
"When I Grow Up" -- Pussycat Dolls
"you don't know what it's like to be nameless / want them to know what your name is / 'cause, see, when i was younger i would say / when i grow up / i wanna be famous / i wanna be a star / i wanna be in movies"
Nobody puts baby in a corner laughs at Dawn.
"Popular" -- The Veronicas
"i hate to say it but they play this **** song in every club / but, it's me, so i'll show love / but, it's me, so show me love"
Yeah... Dawn plays nice enough. When she has to.
"Va Va Voom" -- Nicki Minaj
"i wanna give you one last option / i wanna give you one last chance / if you're lookin' for the main attraction / just hold on tight and let me do my dance"
Once again, mean girl stereotypes shine through. What's yours is hers and what's hers is hers, especially so when it comes to cuties. I'm looking forward to the day when she crosses the wrong girl and gets whooped for this sort of thing, to be honest. Aren't we roleplayers cruel to our characters?
"Treat Me Right" -- Keys N Krates

Two words: Spoiled. Rotten.
"Timmy Wears Prada" -- Timothy
"call me the devil of gucci / 'cause only ******* wear prada / i'm a supersonic king / with a seductive persona"
This song utterly oozes the braggart, narcassitic air that Dawn gives off. It fits nicely.

Rae really enjoys the Reign Supreme album by Dying Fetus, of which none of the lyrics would be deemed appropriate for this audience.  Otherwise, he listens to nothing but Tool, Deftones and even The Cure, on those colder winter nights, with the lights turned down low. Basically, the ABSOLUTE opposite of EVERYTHING that Dawn listens to and if he heard any of her stuff playing, he'd look for the nearest public transport bus to jump in front of. Did I mention he loves PANTERA

Iason doesn't have an MP3 player or an IPod, no phones- he hates technology. But, he loves radios. He has a portable one and headphones so at the end of the day, he can curl up and listen to music to tune out the rest of the world. Mixed CD's are made by himself, even if he hates working with computers. Sometimes he'll even pay someone to make the disc for him. Each disc has about twelve songs. But this is what is on them- Disc One:- Burn - The Cure.

It may relate to his history, it may relate to some sort of comfort, but he'd never let anyone know in all honesty. He hates talking about this kind of stuff.

Possibly referring to his father or the rough life he had at home, which he refuses to talk about or even mention to people. He gets really upset when they try to get this information from him.

Even if it is loud, Iason just likes this song- he really does.

He doesn't understand it all because it is Japanese but the tone and the voice of it sound absolutely lovely to him, and therefore he likes the song.
Can't quite find anymore songs right now but that is the basics. A lot of Japanese music, some Three Days Grace, a little bit of the Cure and very little of loud music. |

Serkan's music tastes would be really weird, okay?
Like, if he's mad he'll try to calm himself down after the fight (because he WILL fight) with Drake, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, and Insane Clown Posse. He particularly likes "The Motto" and "The Hand that Feeds".
Or, if he's sad he'll listen to Merle Haggard and Voltaire. He sobs like a big baby when Merle sings about mothers.
If he's workin' he blares Tennesse Ernie Ford and Jim Croce.
If he's trying to "seduce" (read: make a fool of himself in hopes they'll pay attention) he'll listen to Matchbook Romance and the Used almost exclusively. Pray you never hear him try to sing "Paralyzed" to you.
General listening is Johnny Cash, Luke Bryan, Pitbull, the Cataracs, Kendrick Lamar, Baauer, Hucci, Bring Me the Horizon, and Shakira. Don't ask about Shakira, he'll fight you over her. He calls her "the sun haired queen". When he was younger he was determined he was gonna marry her. Hahaha, li'l dork. <3

Micah's playlist would be surprisingly upbeat. Like, his favorite songs are:
"Keep Your Head Up" - Andy Grammer
"Bubbly" - Colbie Caillat
He's fond of what one would hear on the top charts - anything by Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, ect.
And there are some random things, like:
"No Such Thing" - John Mayer
I might think of other things later.
