Nate was not ready to give up yet. He saw a flaw in Faith's plan, and he would take advantage of it. "Jump over her! Then use Tackle and Growl!" There was still a chance for them to win this.
Estel saw the Totodile coming towards him. He responded by running right at her. At the last second, he leapt over her body and landed on the other side. He quickly spun around and ran at her again. When he finished his attack, he growled threateningly. Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Used: Tackle, Growl Health: High Red/Red

Faith was impressed with Nate's quick thinking. She remembered that he participated in contests as well. Maybe that was why this battle felt so familiar to her. Well, it was time to end this. "Leer and Scratch!"
Felicity stared at the Chikorita, her eyes wide. He looked strangely beautiful when he dodged her attacks. She quickly shook her head. She had to focus. The Tackle made her grit her teeth, but she knew this was not over. She leered as she zoomed forward to use Scratch. Nate breathed slowly to calm himself. He was all out of tricks at this point. All he could do was trust in his Pokemon and keep up with his strategy. "Dodge that! Tackle!"
Estel did try to dodge the attack. However, he leer caused him to shiver, and he could not get in the way of the Totodile in time. He sucked in a sharp breath. It would all come back to this last move. He ran forward with all his strength. Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Leer, Scratch Used: Tackle Health: Low Red

Faith could see her chance at victory growing with each minute. They were almost there. She thought it was about time for her contest move once again. "Jump in the air and use Scratch!" She held her breath.
Felicity kept her claws extended as she gazed at the Chikorita. It all came down to this. She had worked too hard to let him win now. The two of them ran towards each other. When they were a foot apart, she leapt in the air. Then she bent her right claw down in an attempt to inflict a final Scratch attack. Estel skidded to s top after completing his attack. He slowly turned around to see how he had done. His eyes widened when he saw the Totodile's claws about to strike. After he was hit, he fell to the floor and did not get up again.
Nate watched sadly as his Pokemon fainted. "Thank for the effort, Estel. Take a rest now." He returned him to his Pokeball and then smiled at Faith. "Congratulations." As e headed out of there, he wondered who would win in the finals. Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Scratch Used: Health: ---

Principal Sash remained quiet throughout the battle. To be honest, it was a little boring. That was to be expected with two low level Pokemon. Still, in the end, she stood up and spoke energetically: "Estel is unable to battle. That means Felicity is the winner, and victory goes to Faith from Hoenn! She will be representing her team in the finals." She smiled, pleased that someone from her own home region had a chance to win it all. Totodile has gained four levels. She now knows Water Gun and Rage.
Chikorita has gained one level. He now knows Razor Leaf.

Faith smiled when she saw her Pokemon still standing. "You did it, Felicity!" She had won her first battle! The Totodile turned and jumped into her arms. The trainer chuckled as she hugged her. Then she smiled at Nate. "Thanks. It was a good battle." She could hardly believe she was headed for the finals once again!
