OOC: This thread is for Nate and Faith's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Nate should post first. He also has the first move. IC: Principal Sash strode onto the stage with Maya by her side. "Welcome back to the Fall 2015 Tournament!" she boomed in the microphone. "We have two battles for you today. First up is Nate from Sinnoh and Faith from Hoenn!!" She smiled as she took her seat. She hoped this was a good battle and no one dropped out!

[blockuote]Nate had a difficult time deciding which Pokemon to use in his first tournament battle. He remembered his contest battle with his Chikorita and he figured he wanted a chance to redeem himself. Once he reached the battlefield, he took out a Pokeball and tossed it in the air. "Estel, let's go!" The grass type was soon by his side, ready to go.[/blockquote] Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Used: Health: High Green

Fresh off her contest win, Faith felt good as she entered the battlefield. Of course, she had breezed by the first round because her opponent had not shown up. She was grateful to see Nate already standing there when she arrived. She offered him a friendly smile. "Hello. Good luck today." When she saw the Chikorita, she knew which Pokemon to use. She knew she would be at a disadvantage, but she wanted a challenge after what happened the previous week. "You're up, Felicity!" A happy Totodile soon stood in front of her. Nate raised his eyebrows when Kiki chose her Pokemon. A water type? Really? Oh well. If that was her choice, he would not feel bad about beating her. Too bad his Pokemon did not know any grass moves. "Estel, use Tackle!"
Estel looked the Totodile up and down. He did not seem like much to him, but he knew better than to underestimate an opponent. <I'll try to make this quick!> He gracefully strode forward, planning on running into the water type. Faith could tell that Nate was confused about her choice. Oh well. It was not up to her to explain her choices to him. Besides, type did not matter as much when both Pokemon were at lower levels. "Dodge that and use Scratch!"
Felicity bounded forward on two legs. <I'm coming for you!> The Chikrorita was kind of cute, but she could not think about that now. She tried to get close enough to scratch him while avoiding his tackle, but she ended up getting hit anyway. She hoped she had marked him as well. Nate was impressed with Faith's plan, but it had not worked. Estel had been attacked as well, but at least they were even. "Now Growl and Tackle!" He hoped he would be quick enough.
Estel was not phased by the Totodile, and he smirked when his attack hit. His smirk vanished, however, when he felt claws scratch his side. <You'll pay for that!> he growled. He then raced forward for another attack. Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Scratch Used: Growl, Tackle Health: Green

Faith was glad that her attack had hit. She could tell this was going to be a long battle, though. If only there was something she could do to spice it up. "You use Leer and Scratch, Felicity!" That would cancel out the Growl.
Felicity froze when she heard the Growl. She was supposed to be the scary own! She had no time to move. She muttered as she stood up after being thrown off her feet. Now he was asking for it. She leered menacingly before rushing forward to strike again. Level: 5 Attacks: Scratch, Leer Abilities: Torrent, Sheer Force Hit By: Growl, Tackle Used: Leer, Scratch Health: Low Green

Nate wished that both Pokemon knew better moves. At least this battle was good practice for the both of them. He decided to keep to his current strategy. It seemed to come with little risk. "Growl and Tackle once more!"
Estel flinched when he saw the Totodile's scary look. Wow, she was more frightening than he thought! All thoughts of dating her vanished as he was scratched once again. He growled at her as he turned and attempted to ram into her. Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Leer Scratch Used: Growl, Tackle Health: Low Green/High Yellow

Faith thought about her next move for a second. She could try to use Leer again, but that might just slow her Pokemon down. "Ok, just get in a good Scratch!" Yeah, that should be good.
Felicity stood her ground against the Chikorita. <You don't scare me!> The Growl did not faze her this time. She could totally take him. She dashed to the side before he could run into her. Then she ran in a circle until she got close to him again, her claw extended for a swipe. Level: 5 Attacks: Scratch, Leer Abilities: Torrent, Sheer Force Hit By: Used: Scratch Health: Low Green

Nate was kind of surprised that Faith did not order another Leer. Oh well. She probably had some sort of plan. As for the boy, he decided to stick to his current strategy. "Growl and Tackle, again!"
Estel growled in frustration when his attack did not hit. How could he miss that blue Pokemon? He stopped and looked around to locate her. Suddenly, he was scratched in the side. He winced as he zones in on the Totodile. He raced towards her, growling in the process. Faith pursed her lips as her Pokemon was struck once again. This battle was going by way too slow for her liking. This was part of growing as a trainer, she supposed. She had to get through it. "Scratch and then Leer!"
Felicity fell on her back when Estel rammed into her. <Hey!> This was really getting tiring. She struggled for a moment before using her tail to get back on her feet. Her eyes narrowed, she ran at the Chikorita to Scratch him. Then she jumped out and used Leer. Nate saw that this battle was finally winding down. He just had to hold on a little bit longer. "Growl and Tackle, once more!" He clenched his teeth. Come on...
Estel ran around in a circle. Still, he was unable to dodge the Scratch attack. He slowed down and growled at his opponent. Then he sped up so that he would do a good deal of damage when he struck the Totodile. Faith took a deep breath to allow her to think calmly. Maybe she should view this battle like she did contest battles. She got an idea. "Felicity, jump up and use Scratch!" They had not practiced this move, so she hoped it would turn out fine.
Felicity stood with her claws extended. She was supposed to jump? That sounded like fun. She would give it a try! She ran towards they Chikorita as he came closer to her. At the last second, she jumped in the air. She flew past the grass type, her claws extended down to try to scratch him. Nate's eyes widened at the Totodile's actions. Wow, that was imrpessive. He knew he had to step up his game if he wanted to win. "Estel, Tackle!" He needed to get in as much damage as possible.
Estel looked up to see his opponent soaring over him. <Hey, you're not a flying type!> He cringed when her attack struck him. My, his opponents were crafty. He sucked in a sharp breath and then ran forward. He had to get them back for that! Level: 6 Attacks: Tackle, Growl Abilities: Overgrow, Leaf Guard Hit By: Scratch Used: Tackle Health: High Red/Red

Faith could feel victory within her grasp. She just had to keep this up a little bit longer. "Get down low and Scratch!" She hoped her Pokemon was smart enough to know what she was talking about. She had a feeling this was the case.
Felicity smiled as she watched the Chikorita. He really was cute when he was losing. She knew she could not let up now, though. This battle was not yet hers. She was spun off her feet by Estel's Tackle. She quickly recovered. She bent her body low as she zoomed forward, her claw out to strike.
