Tamaki Suoh could not be more excited to be attending Cherilli Academy. he had become used to living with his father, but he wanted to follow his dream to become a Pokemon trainer. The Academy was a compromise. People from all classes were admitted to this school, and he was excited to get a peek into the life of commoners. He hoped to make a great impression on them all. He traveled to the Academy in a limo, earning the gawking stairs of Shupert City residents and Cherilli students alike. Once he arrived, he sent the limo driver to bring his bags to his room (had had picked up the key beforehand) and made his way to the principal's office.
He could not believe the tight hallways and small rooms. He wondered if he really could adjust to this type of life. He quickly shook the thoughts from his head. This was his dream, and he was going to follow it to the end. His heart leapt when he reached the correct room. This was it! He took a deep breath and put on a big grin. He had an appointment, so he assumed he could just walk into the room and talk to the principal. "Good morning!" he said in a loud, cheerful tone as he waltzed right in. "I'm here for my first Pokemon!" He looked around expectantly. His life was about to change!

Oh, yes, his life was indeed going to change. Turner was going to make sure of that. Vice Principal Turner snapped his head up from behind his desk at the absurd sound of someone barging into his office. He immediately scowled. Who dared intrude upon his peace and quiet? When he heard what the annoying student wanted, he remembered that he was supposed to meet a new student that day to give him his first Pokemon. This intruder must be that student. Lovely. He glanced down at what he had been working on before the student barged in. It was odorous paperwork, but, though he loathed it, he would much rather get back to it than deal with this annoying creature.
"Did your parents never teach you the decency of knocking before entering a closed room?" he demanded in a harsh, cold voice as he stood up. He opened a drawer and yanked out a personality test. He walked over to the student and looked him up and down. He appeared to be very rich and spoiled. He narrowed his eyes at him, untrustingly. "Here." He shoved the test at him. "You want your first Pokemon? Then take this test. And don't doddle!" He turned back abruptly and sat back down.
Spike, Turner's Lairon, woke up from his nap at the sound of his upset trainer. What was wrong? Oh, a new student! He leapt to his feat and rushed over to Tamaki. <Hello!> he exclaimed happily, wagging his tail as he looked up at the boy.

Tamaki was struck by Turner's harsh words. Tears filled his eyes as he crouched in a corner to sulk. He had wanted to obtain his first Pokemon, but now he was not feeling so good. What had been wrong with feeling so excited? Everyone here was going to hate him! The sound of a Pokemon's voice snapped him out of it. He took the paper from Turner as he turned to Spike. "Hi! You're nice, aren't you?" He smiled and pat the Lairon's head. His spirit was rejuvenated. He simply loved Pokemon. He tore his eyes away so he could look over the test. Hmm... This was going to be difficult. He wanted to make the right decisions, so he took five minutes to fill out the test. He handed the paper back to Turner and then bent down to talk to Spike some more. 1. You enjoy taking walks. B 2. You have an easy-going personality. C 3. You enjoy swimming. B 4. Turner blinked when the kid began to tear up. That had never happened before... He did not know what to do. He had not treated him much different than he had treated other students in the past. It all passed pretty quickly, though, as soon as Spike walked up to Tamaki. Good. Now I don't have to deal with whatever nonsense that was, he thought as he returned to his paperwork. After a couple minutes, when most students finished the test, Turner looked up. He frowned when he saw that Tamaki was still pouring over the questions. He rolled his eyes and continued his paperwork.
Once the student was finally finished and handed him the paper, he stood up and shook his head. "It sure took you long enough," he muttered under his breath as he turned to search for Pokemon in the closet. Based on Tamaki's answers, he picked out three Pokemon. He returned to the student and released the three Pokemon from their Pokeballs: a Seedot, a Minun, and a Poliwag. "Choose one," he said, crossing his arms as he waited.
Spike smiled when Tamaki spoke to him. He was glad he was able to cheer him up! He happily watched the boy as he filled out the test. When he bent down to talk with him some more, the Lairon happily spoke back. <I hope you get a good first Pokemon! He or she is going to be a great friend to you, and you'll have many fun adventures together!> Just like the adventures he had had with his trainer when he was young! Oh, those were the days!

Tamaki did not know what the Lairon was saying, but he could tell it was something positive. He smiled at him and pat him on the head. "Thank you." he ignored Vice Principal Turner until he returned with three Pokeballs. He tore his eyes away from Spike and looked with glee upon the three Pokemon now in front of him. "Oh, how am I supposed to choose? You all look so wonderful!" He knelt down in front of them so he could examine him.
The Seedot looked friendly and energetic. he brought his hand out and rubbed her head. She would be fun to have around, and she would evolve into a strong and wise Pokemon. Next he turned to the the Minum. This was also a Pokemon he recognized from his new home of Hoenn. He knew that Minun were inseparable from Plusle, and the two of them represented friendship. Minun did not evolve, but the happy Pokemon would still make a wonderful partner. Finally, he studied the Poliwag. He did have a fondness for water types, and this one would grow to be a strong and tough Pokemon - or perhaps a froggie grass type. He did like choices.
Tamaki stood up straight and looked at all three of them once gain. The one who was pulling the most at him intuitively was the small electric Pokemon. He thought a Pokemon dedicated to friendship was perfect for his new family. Plus, he could not help but feel for the Minun that was without his Plusle. He too knew what it was like to be without someone he needed. He immediately pushed the thoughts back, deciding to focus on the positive. "I choose this one!" He picked up the Minun and nuzzled him against his cheek.

Turner frowned when the student questioned how he would be able to choose. The students always took forever deciding which Pokemon to choose. It was quite annoying and a waste of his time. He did not understand why they did not just choose the Pokemon for them instead of giving them options. Or, why not just give them a whole range of options? Why not let them choose whichever Pokemon they could think of? That would eliminate the time it took to take the test, and he would not have to bother looking it over. Choosing which Pokemon would probably take just as long too. So, in the end, it would cause him less bother. Principal Sash would never go for it, though. There was a point to giving them a Pokemon based on their personality, she said.
Turner sighed with exasperation when Tamaki finally decided on the electric type. He returned the other two Pokemon and retreated to the closet where he had found them. Now carrying a backpack and a Pokeball, he walked back to the student. "Here is a starter backpack with other items, and here is that Minun's Pokeball." He placed them in his hands. "You may go now," he added gruffly. He looked forward to his exit.
Spike smiled when Tamaki patted his head. <Hello!> he greeted the three Pokemon that appeared. They all looked like great Pokemon. When Tamaki chose the Minun, he felt happy for the two new friends. <Have fun!> he told them as they walked out.

"We're both going to our new home soon," he said to the Minun. He bounced on the balls of his feet as e waited for Turner to return. He immediately took the items handed to him and slipped the backpack on his back. "Thank you so much, good sir!" He glanced down at the Lairon and smile. "You have a good day. Tell your trainer to lighten up a bit." Then he turned on his heels and trotted out of the room. It was now time to start his new life. Off to the dorms!
