Sawyer finally decided to try to beat the first battle leader. She had put this off because she wanted to become stronger first. She knew Cole wanted her to win a one on one battle, but she felt like it was time for her to challenge Jenna. That secret organization would have to wait. She entered the room, Kopa the Litleo padding by her side. She wondered how anyone knew she was there. "Jenna, I'm here to challenge you!" She hoped that would do the trick. |

Jenna strolled into the room, a confident grin on the face. "Hello!" she greeted the student. "I'm Jenna, and I'm here to accept your request." She figured the girl wanted to start right away, so she took her place on her side of the field. Then she chose a Pokeball. "Let's go, Sting!" Her Beedrill appeared before her and started to buzz. Sawyer nodded at Jenna when she took her spot. The girl stood opposite of her. She already knew who she would choose first. "Tammy, you're up!" The Stunky might be sleepy, but she had learned how to battle well. "Use Fury Swipes!"
Tammy yawned as she stared at the Beedrill. She knew what she had to do. She lumbered. She did not know how she would reach the flying type but she trusted her trainer would figure something out. When she got close enough, she leapt in the air with her claws extended. Jenna smiled at the Stunky. She was so pretty! It was not usual for her to meet a trainer with a shiny Pokemon. She hoped that meant she would give her a good battle. "Sting, use Fury Attack!" It had begun!
Sting watched the Stunky carefully. He thought he had enough time to fly up and avoid her attack, but she was too quick for him. He winced as he was struck by her claws three times. Now that he was close to her, he swooped down for his Fury Attack. Sawyer did not tell her Pokemon to dodge the attack. She had a plan, and she needed her Stunky to remain close to the bug type. Right after she was struck, the trainer called out: "Quick, use Poison Gas!"
Tammy was glad she was able to use the attack with no problem. Her energy was still up, which was good. She flinched when the Beedrill suddenly attacked her back. Se took a deep breath and turned around. Then she raised her tail and released her poisonous gases. Jenna noticed something off about the Stunky but did not say anything. she was trying hard, and that was what counted. "Fury Attacka again!" She had to finish this battle before the poison lost it for them.
Sting zoomed upwards, but this was not enough to evade the smell gas filling the air. He coughed, but this only made it worse. His wings slowed slightly as the poison took effect. Still, he determinedly rushed at the Stunky to strike again. Sawyer was glad her Stunky was holding up well so far. She would continue to use her until she saw signs of strain. "Now use Fury Swipes followed by Screech!" They had to hit hard before the flying type got away.
Tammy winced as she was struck again. Didn't that guy know any other moves? Oh well. Before he could fly away, she slashed him with her long claws. Then she backed away and screeched loudly. "Come on, dodge that!" Jenna called. Unfortunately, that Stunky was too quick. She was quite impressed with her power too. "Ok, fly up and prepare for Fury Attack!"
Sting buzzed with excitement. He loved the thrill of battle! He started to fly up, but the Stunky's claws sent him crashing to the ground. he was struck five times before he was able to get away and fly near the ceiling. he hovered over his opponent for a moment before speeding down to strike. Sawyer nodded in satisfaction. So far, so good. She was proud of her Stunky for holding up so well. "Now use Scratch!" She hoped this would be over soon.
Tammy braced herself for the next attack. She did not want to wear herself out by running. Luckily, she was able to endure the hit. She wondered how much longer this would take. She quickly reacted and flung out her claws again to Scratch the Beedrill. "You handle your Pokemon well," Jenna said to the challenger. She was always impressed when opponents without wings were able to get to her flying types. "Fury Attack!"
Sting felt the poison weigh him down, making it difficult to dodge the oncoming attack. He winced as sharp claws sliced through him. He sucked in a sharp breath and then dove down to attack with Fury Attack. Sawyer nodded. "Thanks." But this battle was not over yet. She hoped one more good hit would do it. "Go right in and use Fury Swipes!"
Tammy was used to running straight into danger by this point. She did not mind, for it helped her stay awake. If she could hold on a little longer, she could get through this with no incidents. She remained close to the Beedrill, striking with her claws right after receiving his attack. Sting could not withstand this finally attack. He used the last of his strength to sail to the ground, where he then collapsed.
Jenna smiled sadly as she returned Sting to his Pokeball. "Thank you for fighting hard." Then she looked at the challenger. "Not bad. Let's see what you do next. Go Cooper!" The Venonat appeared on cue. "Use Supersonic!"
Cooper hopped from foot to foot excitedly. This was his chance to shine! He calmed himself enough to take in his enemy. He took a deep breath and then attempted to use Supersonic. Sawyer smiled proudly at her Stunky. "Great job, girl!" The poison type had come a long way since she had caught her in the park. "Now use Smokescreen!"
Tammy's pleasure was short lived. The new Pokemon caused her head to feel weird, and then suddenly she found herself attacking herself. She was so confused! A small smirk twitched on Jenna's face. She had her now! "This is your chance. Use Tackle!"
Cooper watched the Stunky carefully and only relaxed when she attacked herself. He let out a breath of relief. He would not be struck yet. He bounded forward in order to strike. Sawyer clenched her teeth while she watched her Stunky be attacked. "You've got to snap out of it! Fury Swipes!" She let out a breath of relief when she saw her respond.
Tammy felt her body fly backwards. Finally, she broke free of the confusion. She faced her opponent and growled. Time to get back in the game! She raced towards the Venonat, extending her claws at the last second.
