Nate knew it all came down to this last round. "Watcher, dodge that!" he called out. Unfortunately, the previous Bubble move had slowed down the Umbreon too much. The Wartortle clamped onto his leg and drained the last of his energy.
"Thanks for your hard work. Take a rest now." The boy returned his Pokemon to his Pokeball. Well, he had fought hard, but he had lost in the end. He nodded at Gary. "Congratulations." Principal Sash was on the edge of her seat throughout the whole battle. She had no idea who would win in the end. Both Pokemon were true fighters. Finally, the unexpected happened, and it was all over. "Wow, how exciting!" she boomed into the microphone as she made her way onto the battlefield with Maya the Vulpix by her side. "Watcher is unable to battle, and Skipper is the winner! For the second time in a row, the tournament champion is Gary from Kanto!" She smiled while everyone applauded. "Congratulations, Gary. We hope to see you next year." Wartortle has gained two levels!
Umbreon has gained one level!

Gary looked on in triumph as the Umbreon fainted. "We did it, Skipper!" The boy and Pokemon pumped their fists in the air. He was still the champion! He rubbed his Wartortle's head when he returned to him. Then he smiled at Nate. "Thanks. That was a good battle." He gratefully accepted his prize from Principal Sash. After bowing to the audience, he departed the area.

Nate clapped along with everyone else when Principal Sash announced Gary as the winner. He was disappointed but proud for getting so far. He offered his friend one more smile before leaving the Battle Area. He would just have to train harder next year!
