OOC: This is for Nate and Gary;s battle. Nate will post first and will have the first move.
IC: Principal Sash waited in the battle area for everyone to arrive. She knew the two contendors well, and she was sure this would be a great final match. Once it was time to start, she looked around at the crowd before speaking into her microphone: "Hello everyone and welcome to the Cherilli Academy 2016 Tournament Finals! We have a great battle for you today. Please welcome Nate from Sinnoh and Gary from Kanto!" As she returned to her seat, she found herself wondering who would come out on top. |

Nate and Watcher strode onto the battlefield together. The two of them were partners, so of course they would fight together in this final battle. He did not know if he would win, but he would give it his best. His newly evolved Umbreon was sure to be a great help. Watcher was excited to test his new skills and grow in the process. Gary walked onto the battlefield and took his place opposite of Nate. He was excited for this chance to test himself and prove he was the best. He also looked forward to battling his friend's new Umbreon. "Ready to get this show on the road?" he said before releasing Skipper. He thought it would be best if the two of them used their starter Pokemon. Nate nodded at Gary. "I sure am." It would be fun to battle his friend again, but that did not mean he would go easy on him. "Watcher, start off with Swift!" He wanted to test the Wartortle first to see how he would react.
Shadow flashed Skipper a friendly smile. <Good luck!> He wanted to win, but he also wanted to be a good sport about it. They were friends, after all. Hearing his trainer's command, he opened his mouth and shot out sharp-edged stars at his opponent. He hoped he would get off to a good start. Gary did not quite know what to expect with this battle. The Umbreon acted quickly, and the boy waited to see what kind of power he held. "Skipper, Water Gun!" He wondered how he would react to this.
Skipper stood his ground against the attack. He shielded his face wit his arms, grunting when the stars cut his skin. Then he positioned himself so he had good access to his opponent. It was his turn now! He tooka deep breath and then released a stream of water. Nate thought that the Wartortle had slowed down since his evolution. His Umbreon, on the other hand, had become speedier. He would use this to his advantage. "Now Feint Attack!" He hoped to catch their opponent by surprise.
Shadow smirked when his attack worked. And he was just getting started! The Water Gun was too quick for him to dodge, but it did not bother him too much. He sprung into action as soon as he got the chance. He ran right up to the Wartortle and attempted to startle him with Feint Attack. Gary was impressed with the Umbreon's speed. He knew he needed a different tactic if he was going to win. He patiently waited until his opponent already started his attack. "Now Withdraw followed by Muddy Water!"
Skipper kept a careful eye on the dark type. He tensed when he suddenly come up upon him. At the last second, he withdrew into his shell so that the damage from the attack would be minimized. Then he popped back out and immediately used his limbs to swipe up the wet mud on the ground. Nate grit his teeth when he saw the power of the Wartortle's attack. He had forgotten about that one. It was time to put his strategy into motion. "Watcher, use Confuse Ray followed by Bite!"
Watcher growled when he saw the turtle hide inside his shell. He should have seen it coming. He watched him carefully, jumping in surprise when he came back out. He got water in his eyes, making it hard to see. Still, he stood his ground and used Confuse Ray. Then he leapt forward and chomped down on the Wartortle's arm. Gary smirked as he witnessed the power of his Wartortle's attack. A couple more of those and this battle would be his! Unfortunately, he had thought too soon. He did not expect the Confuse Ray move that left his Pokemon disoriented. "Snap out of it and use Water Gun!"
Skipped enjoyed the feeling of the water as he moved. He jumped back to watch the Umbreon's reaction and was rewarded with an odd ray of light. He suddenly felt very dizzy and confuse. He cried out when he was bit by his opponent. He tried to strike back but ended up only hurting himself. Nate smiled in relief when Confuse Ray had its intended effect. Now the battle had turned in his favor. He knew he had to take advantage of this situation if he wanted to win the battle. "Now Shadow Ball!"
Shadow let go of the Wartortle after finishing his attack. He tensed, waiting for retaliation. Thankfully, his opponent was too confused to do anything. He took a step back and then released a ball of purple energy, sending it straight at the turtle. Gary hoped that his Wartortle snapped out of his confusion soon. He did not know what to expect, so he thought he might as well go with his strongest attack. "Get it together and use Muddy Water!"
Skipped fell onto his back after he was struck by a strong force. This seemed to give him some clarity. He used momentum to stand back on his feet. He quickly located the Umbreon. Then he swept up the water at his feet and hurled it at him. Nate was disappointed that the Wartortle was able to attack. Both Pokemon were now tiring out, and victory could go to either trainer. "Watcher, use Pursuit!"
Shadow did not expect the sudden surge of water. He tensed as the move pushed him back. He shook off the water and opened his eyes. He was tired, but he had to continue! He leapt forward and attempted to use Pursuit. "Skipper, use Protect!" Gary called out. He held his breath as he waited to see if the turtle was well enough to do as he said. He let out a breath of relief when he was successful. "Now Bubble!" He could feel the battle coming to a close.
Skipper put up a protective shield that lowered the damage he received from the Umbreon's attack. He waited a few seconds in case he became confused. Relief washed through him when the funny feeling faded. Now it was time to win! He faced his opponent and let loose a stream of bubbles. Nate was disappointed that the confusion had worn off. Now he would have to rely on his strength to win him the battle. "Watcher, use Swift!" He did not want to risk a physical move in case the Umbreon had been slowed down too much.
Watcher growled at the invisible wall. That was no good! There was no time to doge the bubbles. They did not hurt too much, but he did suddenly feel more tired. He was glad he could stay put for his next attack. He faced the Wartortle and released sharp-edged stars. Gary knew for sure his Pokemon was free from confusion. Now it would all come down to the last moves.
"Use Bite while trying to dodge that Swift!" he called out. He knew his Wartortle could do it but nothing was guaranteed.
Skipper braced himself for the next attack. He started to move forward even as the stars flew at him. He ran side to side to avoid the stars, but most of them struck him. Still, he charged towards the Umbreon, planning on biting him when he was within range.
