He had just finished speaking to Rae, and getting his first Pokemon. His immediate promise to himself wast to flesh out his Pokemon team and to get stronger. He raced towards the pond on the bike he had been given after also getting Pidgey. For the two Pokemon he already had, the only logical choice would be to now go after a grass-type. The cool air of mid February bit at the skin of his exposed face. It was still sunny out, but it was definitely on the cooler side. Hopefully he would be able to find what he was looking for.
The pond was almost completely frozen over like Rae had stated. So, he would not look of in that direction. There was a field of brush and high grass all around, so he took the option of heading through the brush and smaller trees first. Combing his way though, he eventually came to a small clearing. He had no idea how he had gotten there, and he hoped he didn't get lost. He actually had a terrible sense of direction.

A Bulbasaur was wandering near a pond. It was pretty cold, but he was used to it. It was necessary to be used to it because he loved to walk around outside looking for someone to sneak up on. It was always fun to pull pranks. However, he did not like to pull pranks that upset people. He only did things that would make others laugh. That was his whole reason for doing it. Plus, it was fun for him too! He entered a small clearing where some bushes and small trees were. It was there that he spotted a trainer. Great! His first chance of the day! He happily crouched down low and sneakily snuck around him. When he was behind him, he jumped up to grab a hold of his shirt with his teeth. <Surprise!> he yelled as he leapt up. He stumbled briefly, but recovered quickly. What had just happened? It was a pretty forceful tug. Whipping around, Rameses came face to face with a Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur! This is so awesome! Bulbasaur is by far my favorite of the grass-types. I have to tell mom about this later. For now though, let's catch it. Tugging at his belt frantically, Rameses searched for his pokeballs. Finally, he felt them, and grabbed the first of the two and threw the ball into the air. "I choose you, Silver." Midair, the ball opened up and revealed the fire fox, Vulpix. Unable to hold on for long, the Bulbasaur let go, landing softly on the ground. <Hello!> he greeted the trainer. Aww, he didn't seem to have found that funny or fun or anything at all. He seemed happy he was there, though. The grass type grew excited when A Vulpix appeared. This guy wanted to battle and then capture him, right? That was alright with him. He enjoyed a chance to be sneaky in battle. Plus, if he lost, then he would have a whole team to play fun pranks on or to just mess around with! It was a win win in his mind. <I'm not scared of you, fire type!> he said with a grin as he raced towards her for a tackle. "Oh no, Silver." Silver the Vulpix was rocked hard by the tackle of the wild Bulbasaur. So much so that the fire fox went crashing to the ground. It may have only been their first battle together, but Rameses did not like seeing this happen to his partner. However, at the same time it was fun. He would take this one as a learning experience. "Alright girl, let's do this!" The Vulpix returned to her feet, and gave Rameses a nod of acknowledgement. "Vulpix." "Alright Silver, use ember!" "Vulpix!" The fox opened her mouth and spat out a small amount of fire at the Bulbasaur. The Bulbasaur was happy his attack had worked. Yay! However, soon he found ember being blown in his face. <Oww...> he groaned. He frantically rubbed his burning face on the cool ground. He was a lot better at sneakily attacking than sneakily evading attacks coming at him. That was something he definitely needed to work on. Everyone had their weaknesses, though, right? Shaking it off, he let out a growl towards the Vulpix in order to decrease her attack power. When he was satisfied with that, he ran at her again, hoping for another successful attack. The Bulbasaur was obviously not going to go down easily. Rameses was astonished when Silver hesitated a bit as the Bulbasaur growled at her. Once more, Silver found herself on the receiving end of a tackle. She slid back, but did not fall this time. Great. Silver is learning while in battle. Come on girl, you can beat him!. Silver quickly shook off the attack and stood ready to continue to fight. "Vulpix!" "Alright Silver, let's do this again! Use ember one more time!" Again, the Vulpix opened her mouth and shot forth another ball of fire at the wild Bulbasaur. The Bulbasaur celebrated quietly when he was able to tackle the Vulpix. <This is fun! Are you having fun?> he asked Silver. <Ow.> He rubbed his face in the cold grass again when he got hit by Ember. It wasn't as bad as the first time because of his Growl. He crouched down and stalked towards her again before springing forward in a gallop. Another Tackle it would be! She better watch out or he would win! He didn't care that she was a fire type. His sneaky ways would help him to victory! He stifled a giggle as he ran.

He was proud that Silver was holding her own against the Bulbasaur. She continued to take punishment from the wild Pokemon, but she was also able to dish it back out. Once more the wild Bulbasaur executed the full repertoire, and Silver was able to endure. This is when Rameses decided to do precisely what the Bulbasaur had been doing throughout the fight. "Alright Silver. Hit him with tail whip, and then finish off with ember." "Vulpix!" She did precisely as she was told. Rameses only hoped that Silver would be able to stay on target. The Bulbasaur was happy he was able to hit the Vulpix again. He wondered which one of them would come out on top in the end. With the Tail Whip, the Ember could really be a problem. He did not have time to dodge, so he decided to attack at the same time. The searing fire hurt his body, but he kept rushing forward. His movement had slowed from the Ember attack by the time he grew close to his opponent, but he was still moving forward. He had just enough strength left to give it one last shot.

"Silver, dodge that tackle." Vulpix again nodded in acknowledgement. She was nimble enough to sidestep the incoming tackle. Rameses knew that it was now his turn. He would end the battle in one action if Bulbasaur permitted him to do so. He locked eyes with the grass type Pokemon. Bulbasaur would definitely make a wonderful addition to his team. Taking one of the empty Pokeballs from his belt, he tapped the button on the device, and it grew to it's standard size. Still looking at Bulbasaur, Rameses took a windup position, wound up, and threw the Pokeball at Bulbasaur. "Pokeball go." With any luck, he would soon have a new Pokemon. The Bulbasaur was expecting another attack, but instead a Pokeball was thrown at him. he could have resisted if he had wanted to. However, he did not mind the prospect of being captured. It would probably turn out better for him. He would always have tons of friends to mess around with. He did not fight the power of the Pokeball. The ball wobbled a few times and then grew still.

"Haha! Alright! I caught a Bulbasaur!"
Rameses pumped his fist in the air in celebration. He then grew silent and let the feeling wash over him. Not only was it his first Pokemon battle, but he caught an amazing Pokemon. This was the first step on his journey to becoming a trainer of merit. Still silent, and now contemplative, Rameses looked up into the sky as the cold February wind began to pick up.
"You were a worthy opponent, and I am proud to call you my Pokemon."
