Mr. Winston arrived early to the first class of the semester. He was an older man with graying hair and a rather large mustache. While he sat down at his desk, his Baltoy Topper slowly spun around on his own foot at the front of the room. Mr. Winston wanted to make sure he was prepared for his class. He loves philosophy, and he hoped his students would too. if they worked hard, he was sure they could succeed. He took out the enrollment sheet to look over the students who had good enough taste to sign up for the class. He found Nate Kerston, Kiki Jones, Gary Oak, Paul Gruff, Dawn Berlitz, Iason Xanthopoulos. He wondered what kind of students they would be and if they would be any good at the great subject of philosophy. He could hardly wait to begin.

Hair? Curled, hair sprayed, flawless. Make-up? Minimal, still unsmudged, crisp. Outfit? Ha, don’t even play like anyone expected Dawn to dress anything other than over the top for the first day of school! Mint graphic fitted long sleeve over ombre pink-and-white skinnies, finished off with caramel boots. Of course, she had on a few rings, a headband, and a necklace. Hey, she had to look extra special good on the first day. She had to win the hearts of everyone else in the class or she was going to have a small melt down make a good impression. Regardless, she had even coordinated her choice of pokemon for the day with her outfit.
Walking into class, Psyche wondered if Dawn chose her because the blue haired drama queen mistakenly confused philosophy with psychology. Whatever. Not the skitty’s problem. Dawn grinned at the teacher. Hm, he looked to be the typical middle aged guy, maybe a little older. This man was either going to be a complete bore or fairly exciting. She had never seen any in between when it came to teachers who looked like he did. ”Morning,” she chirped.
With that, the blue haired girl carefully picked out the desk smack dab in the middle of the room. With her floral backpack down, her skitty hopped on the desk. The normal type stared at the baltoy through her slitted eyes and wondered if her trainer would get in trouble if she challenged the psychic type to a battle right here and now. Eh… Mm, probably. She sat there, swishing her large, fat pink tail as Dawn placed her binder and pencil on the desk. The girl took a moment to silence her phone.

Gary was actually looking forward to his philosophy class. He found the subject interesting, and he hoped it could teach him a lot about Pokemon. He wanted to learn everything he could about the subject. He had heard they were allowed to take one of their own Pokemon to class, so Skipper walked beside him as he entered the classroom. He immediately swept his gaze across the room. It appeared there was only one other student and the teacher. "Good morning, teach," he said, nodding at Mr. Winston. He found his Baltoy to be quite cool. He wondered what kind of moves he could use.
The Squirtle was quite excited to be attending class. He wanted to meet a lot of new people and Pokemon and make friends. He was also interested in learning, of course. He wondered if he would be provided with anything useful. He waved at the Baltoy as he passed. <Hi.> Then he walked over to one of the desks and looked up at a Skitty. <Hello there.> He hoped she was friendly.
Since his Pokemon had decided this was a good time to make friends, he chose to follow his lead and sit down next to the girl. "Hello," he said, giving her a friendly smile. He did not recognize her, and he wondered if this was her first semester at the academy. He thought it would be polite to introduce himself. "I'm Gary Oak."

Kiki was excited for her first class of the semester. She loved learning, and philosophy seemed like an interesting topic. Other students thought Mr. Winston was boring, but she actually did not mind him. If she was interested in the subject, nothing else mattered. She entered the room with Alice. "Good morning, Mr. Winston," she said to the teacher. She nodded as she passed Gary. She did not recognize the girl next to him, but she seem preoccupied with something. Kiki took a seat in the middle of the classroom. Alice stood next to her desk. The Chikorita looked around at everyone else. She was almost as excited as her trainer.

Watcher ran ahead of Nate as the two of them headed to their first class. Watcher was excited to meet new people and Pokemon. Last semester had been a blast. Learning was fun as well. He skidded into the room and looked around at everyone. There was only one person and Pokemon he did not recognize, so he ran over to them. He nodded at his friend Skipper before looking up at the Skitty. <Hello.>
Nate arrived after Pokemon. He smiled nervously when he saw that he was off making friends again. "I'm sorry about that," he said to Dawn as he came to stand next to Gary's desk. He hoped his Eevee would not be causing a disturbance.

Paul walked to his first class with his Turtwig by his side. It was Pokemon Philosophy. He hadn't taken a class on it yet, so he was not sure what to expect. Information was important, though, so he was interested in what he would be taught. He entered the classroom and headed to a seat at the edge of the middle row without glancing around to see who else was in the class. He really was not interested in that knowledge.
Thorn, on the other hand, was. He followed Paul obediently into the classroom, but as soon as he saw Alice, he raced over to her. He gave her a big, delighted smile and nudged her with his nose. <Hi!> he said excitedly, his little tail moving back and forth happily. He had been so glad Paul had allowed him to come to class with him. The moment he had told him, he had hoped Alice would be there. And she was!

Mr. Winston was pleased when the children started filing in. "Good morning," he said to each of them in turn. This sure seemed like a friendly bunch. he could not wait to fill their minds with tons of knowledge. Soon, it looked like there was only one student missing. He glanced at his watch. There were still five minutes until classes started. He would wait to start class until then.
The Baltoy looked at Skipper when he greeted him. <Hello,> he said. He remembered the Squirtle from the previous semester. he was a pleasant fellow.

Psyche looked down at the squirtle from her perch, her tail swishing pleasantly. <Hello,> she greeted back. Hm… he might battle her later. <You wanna fight, sometime?>
Unlike her starter, Dawn was much more conventional in her greeting. ”Hi,” she greeted back. His last name… no, uh-uh. No way! ”I’m Dawn Berlitz… and, uh, you wouldn’t happen to be related to a famous poet, would you?” Yes. Because Gary’s grandfather was totally more well known for his poetry than his groundbreaking research. ”Nice to meet you, regardless!” He seemed nice enough.
Dawn made note of the other girl in the class. She’d have to ask for her name before it was over. It was always good to have more female friends!
The skitty jumped and whirled, looking down at the eevee. Huh… nice coat, bright eyes--okay, yeah. She could work with this. Taking a note from her trainer for once, the skitty purred in greeting back. <Hia.> Oh, good lord. This wasn’t good.
”No need to worry~!” Dawn chirped in response to Nate’s apology. ”I’m just glad Psyche didn’t hit him or anything, to be honest.” She gave her own nervous laugh. She snuck another look at the eevee. Aw, they really were as cute as everyone said. She kind of wished her mom’ umbreon would have bred so that she could have her own eevee. How nice would that have been?
When the purple haired boy entered, Dawn only caught a glimpse of him. She let it go, feeling as if, in another world, another life, she had very much disliked him. So, deciding not to tempt fate or pursue that odd, almost instinctive emotional bristling, she decided to continue on with her business.

Skipper supposed the Skitty was friendly. She did not seem hostile or anything. Fight? <Sure,> he said. Fighting could be fun. He wondered how strong this one was. <I'm Skipper.> He glanced at Watcher. <Hi.>
Gary blinked when the girl asked if he was related to a famous poet. Then he realized she was referring to his grandfather, and a sweatdrop appeared on his forehead. "Professor Oak is my grandpa. It's nice to meet you too." he had never heard anyone refer to his grandpa as a poet first. That was not usually what people thought of. He looked at Nate next to him and gave him a small smile. "Hello. It's good to see you again." he admired the Eevee. He had always wanted one himself. If he was lucky, maybe he would be able to catch one some day.

Watcher nodded at Skipper. <Hey.> Then he looked back at the Skitty and smiled. <How's it going?> She looked pretty comfortable up there on the desk. He sat down on the floor and swished his tail. He was looking forward to this class. He wondered who else would show up.
"Oh, really?" Nate said, chuckling slightly at Dawn's comment. The Skitty was a feisty one, eh? His Eevee could probably deal with her. He was good at calming down others and making friends. The trainer smiled at Gary. "It's nice to see you too." He recognized the Squirtle, and he noted that he seemed to be very healthy. Realizing he had not yet introduced himself, he looked back at Dawn. "I'm Nate, by the way." She looked kind of familiar, like he had seen her around before. Was she in his team, perhaps? Maybe she was in another one of his classes.

Alice watched the door to see who would come in. Her face brightened when she saw Thorn enter with his trainer. Paul appeared as unhappy as ever, and it made her wish there was something she could do about that. She and Thorn were going to have to work harder to get him a friend. She grinned when the Turtwig nudged her. <Hello! This class is going to be great, don't you think?>
Kiki smiled softly when she saw Thorn stop to talk to Alice. She glanced back at Paul. He had not seemed to notice yet, and she hoped he would not mind. She was glad he had brought the Turtwig to give him more time with her Chikorita. Just because he did not want any friends did not mean his Pokemon had to suffer the same terrible fate.

He was here, despite being a little late. A fletchling nestled into his blue hair to the point it was barely seen, a vulpix tagging along with him which was followed by a slugma that was burning nearly everything in its trail. He silently walked to the back of the classroom, the vulpix hoping onto the table to curl up near his notebook. The slugma remaining on the ground so it wouldn't hurt Iason or damage anymore school property. And emerging from its pokeball was a rotom, its electricity bristling the air. It wanted to hear the lesson too. Just like Iason and his other pokemon- they were a little interested in this entire situation. Besides, they wouldn't hurt anything by sitting in the back of the class. They might even help Iason take notes.

Mr. Winston glanced up at the clock, noting that it was now time for class to start. Before he could begin, however, he received a phone call from Principal Sash. She told him that one of his students had been expelled and one suspended. Oh dear. The teacher wondered how they had gotten into so much trouble so early. No matter. He had a job to do, and he would do it with the students he had left. He cleared his throat before speaking. "Good morning, class," he said in a deep voice. "Welcome to Pokemon Philosophy Level I. I am Mr. Winston. I believe I know all of you."
Yes, they all appeared to be second semester students. Excellent. That would make his job a bit easier. Unfortunately, he feared he would mix up their names if he went by memory alone, so he decided to read the roll. "When I say your name, let me know you are here. Paul Gruff... Kiki Jones... Nate Kerston... Gary Oak." He raised his eyes from his paper, feeling satisfied that everyone was there. Now it was time to get into philosophy. He stood up with a stack of papers in his hands and walked over to the desks. "This is the syllabus. Look it over and tell me if you have any questions about it or any general questions about the class." He handed a paper to each of the four students.
