Yami yawned as he headed to the pool it was early in the morning 5am. He had gotten into the routine of getting up at 5am to swim for the past eight years and he had gotten so use to it he woke up every morning without an alarm and couldn't go back to sleep. If there was one thing he truly enjoyed it was swimming. He was wearing his Hakama style pants white and a black kimono top with waraji no tabi socks. He had his swimmers underneath and atop his head a pair of goggles with black frames and white band lastly a bag with spare clothes over his shoulder.. He yawned softly again as his mind began to catch up with his body. His body was wide awake but his brain was still slowly waking up.
Yami entered the pool area looking over it. The school had a nice pool bigger then the private school he use to attend, looks like he could get quite a bit of exercise in. He set his bag down on a bench and removed his kimono showing off his chiselled chest and abs, his muscles were well kept and build. His body was fit and athletic from the swimming he did during school. He cracked his neck as he threw it onto his bag and removed his Hakama pants leaving him in a black Speed Aquablade Jammer swimwear pants. The jammers hugged to his thighs tightly ensuring no air would flow in nor would the fall off while he was swimming. Around his waist was a water proof belt with his pokeballs attached Amaterasu on the left and Seiryuu on the right while at the back was his five spares. He yawned softly as he headed towards the diving blocks to begin.
He stepped onto the block putting his right foot forward his toes off the edge placing his left a shoulder width back facing the pool breathing in softly making a count down in his head. He pulled his goggles down so he could see where he was going.Yami crouched down to where his feet where grabbing the front of the diving block with his right arm. He bend down so his chest was touching his thights leaning forward at a point where he felt like he was going to fall off. He remained still breathing in and out counting down in his head imagining an imaginative coach on the site telling him to take his mark. His head clicked as his coach gave him the signal. He pushed forward with his arms and legs simultaneously quickly moving his arms into a streamline position above his hit. The moment his hands touched the water he made sure to tuck his head in and keep his body straight after falling into avoid going in to deep. He had learned early on it was better to make a shallow dive not a deep dive. He began kicking immediately doing a simple freestyle.
He moved quickly coming up to breathe when he ran out of air keeping his body straight as he moved freely his goggles keeping the water out as he swam from one side of the pool to the end. He moved swiftly reaching the end quickly. he touched the end and spun around beginning the next lap heading back to the other end of the pool. A small smile was framing his normal cold noble features, if there was one thing he loved more than anything even sweets it was swimming.

Was it vain to say she liked to watch the sunrise?
The blue haired teen walked towards the pool, pokemon still sleeping in her dorm. Normally, she would spend the morning picking out her outfit. However, she’d done that last night as she couldn’t use that time to get in her new nightly dance routine. She was determined to get in shape, but dancing with her new roommate would be just weird. So, she’d had to shift her schedule around. She was pitiful when it came to physical prowess; swimming and dancing were all she was any sort of good at, given that she used to live near Sandgem Town and that no proper prissy, prideful, princess couldn’t claim to be able to get down with the best of them.
She wasn’t at all used to actually being out at this time of the morning. She’d spend her morning slowly, drink some juice and catch up on the latest celebrity news, maybe groom her partners. The campus was actually very pretty this time of morning. She smiled as a few pidgey and starly chirped, birdsong filling the air. She thought she saw a togekiss in the distance, but supposed it belonged to one of the teachers.
”If I can ever get my endurance up,” Dawn muttered into her pink coat’s collar, ”I might go for morning jogs.” Haha, fat chance. Dance for thirty minutes, yes. Spend a whole day in and out of the water on the beach, covered. Jog for ten minutes? Nah, no, nuh-uh, not happening, think again, nope! Her blue hair was left natural due to how early it was. Thick curls were slightly knotted. Who would really see her like this, though? Towel under her arm, she figured the pool water would at least weigh it down enough to where it wouldn’t look too terribly stupid.
When she entered the covered pool “house”, she paused in the threshold. Was… that a dolphin or a guy?! It was big enough to be a dolphin, darn it! Dawn blinked stupidly as she finally began moving, finding a chair near the hot tubs to dump her jacket and towel in. The blue haired girl stood for a second in her green two piece, considering just going back to the room. This guy looked like he knew what he was doing. Was that a breaststroke? Butterfly?? Dawn didn’t know what freestyle was when done by a professional, being a casual swimmer.
No. She definitely wasn’t going back to the room without burning off some calories. Even if this freakishly tall dude was swimming, she was darn sure gonna get a few laps in herself. The pool was too big for him to take up by himself, anyway. Intimidation due to being in the presence of a more skilled swimmer behind her, the youth walked to the edge of the pool. Perhaps others had a more graceful way of entering a pool rather than just stepping off into the deep end. Dawn had probably seen too many alternative pop videos for her own good, getting the inspiration for the dramatic entrance from such.
Yeah, she wasn’t even gonna bother to say anything to the guy unless they got in each other’s way. To be perfectly honest, between Rae and Greed, she sort of figured any guys taller than her with dark hair were bad news, especially for her emotional stability and sanity. Actually, thinking of Micah and Walter, basically all the guys here were more or less troublesome. She needed to hang out with more girls.
As she touched the bottom of the pool and kicked off it to get to the top again, she idly wondered if there was a girls only club. If not, Dawn was totally starting one.

Yami continued his daily swim having drowned out everything around him. It was something he had picked up on from his competitions. On his first tournament he was unprepared for the sheer amount of noise and it had distracted him making him come second in the lap. Ever since then he had trained by blasting music at his old schools indoor pool and practised to literally drown the music to enter a state of bliss of no noise at all. It had taken a few weeks to get use to and learn to ignore everything but he had finally done it. He could pull himself away from reality entering his own world that was purely focused on the task at hand, in this state he ignored the crowds, the noise, anyone entering the pool, even his own competition so not to worry about his place only concentrating on the swim itself.
So when another student had entered the area Yami did not even acknowledge her for in his current state he had yet to even realise she had arrived. At the moment the world around him was black all he could see was his arms moving the blocks ahead and the water moving around. He was purely focused on the task at hand counting down the laps in his had currently up to forty-seven as he soldiered on. His breathing was steadied and he could feel his heart beating softly in his chest every time he came up and took a deep breath of air. Due to his years as swimming his lung capacity has expanded quite exponentially. Swimming was great for building up your lung capacity and it held with Asthma. His legs powered through the water propelling him forth as his arms pulled him through the air. His hair was drenched and hanging around his neck and front as he swam on.
His hand touched the block signalling his forty-eighth lap. He spun around and made the run back to the other side heading towards the deep end. It had felt like he had done sixty something laps due to the pool being longer than what he was use to be it didn't mean he was slowing down if anything he began to speed his swimming up adding more force to his legs and arms. Swimming was truly a time where he was at peace and he loved it that was true and it was calming to him. When he was frustrated he use to head down to the pool and swim to calm himself down and think. He truly was a water child. The first time he stepped into the pool at his school in saffron city was amazing he could remember that day he had spent hours swimming about until his grandparents had forced him out only for him to dive into their own pool back home
It was what sparked his interest in the swim team he had become their captain and champion winning a number of tournaments against numerous schools from across Kanto, Johto and Hoenn. Yami hit the block again for his forty-ninth lap two more and he was finished, he decided to do a light number today wanting to get out and explore the campus. He hit the block beginning the final lap number fifty. He decided not to hold back giving it his all as he sped through the water making his way back to the deep end. He came up and took a breath of air before putting his head back into the water. He could see the pool wall coming up getting closer and closer every second. He reached out and touched the block coming to a stop. he came up breathing in deeply panting softly water dripping from his hair. He shook his head letting water fly from his locks. He pulled his goggles up sitting them from his forehead finally taking note of the second presence.
Yami glanced in the persons direction taking note that it was a girl. By the looks of things probably fourteen or fifteen from just guessing. She had dark blue hair and bright blue eyes from a glance. he did note she was rather...short about four feet ten or eleven inches compared to his six feet four inches, the again he was just tall. She was wearing a green two piece and was swimming. he wondered how long she had been here. He shrugged and was tempted to leave but...perhaps this would be a chance to make friends. He was torn between leaving and staying. The noble looking male sighed and pulled his goggles down before taking a deep breathe and diving under the water going to the bottom and swam towards the younger girl by four or three years.
Yami came up a few feet about five or so away from the girl and shook his head speaking in a soft aristocratic tone, "Hello. I had not expected anyone else to be up around this time. Please to meet you I am Hateshginai, Yami starting my first Semester. May I ask thy name?" he spoke politely and bowed his head respectfully.

Honestly, the best part about swimming was that it made her feel like she was flying. Each twirl and spin became easier than it ever could have been out of the water. Flips and underwater swim-sprints delighted her. She couldn’t hold her breath for nearly as long as would have been fun, but all the same it was entertaining. Her eyes were probably red from the chlorine.
Every now and then, Dawn would take note of the mysterious swimmer’s actions. His stamina, excuse the pun, blew her out of the water. She’d been kidding in her own thoughts earlier when she labeled him a dolphin, but she was starting to wonder if he was maybe part dewgong or something. Old Sinnoh myths told of days when people and pokemon were no different from each other. Maybe he was a throwback to those days…?
Eh. She had a workout to finish. Finishing getting another lung full of air, she sank to the bottom of the pool and contently played with her hair, seeing how long she could tolerate the pressure on her small frame. Mm, nope, she was done sitting on the bottom of the pool. Rising to the surface, she struggled with her hair for a moment. Vanity didn’t even allow cutting it to be an option and she was more afraid of chemicals than she was heat, so a relaxer was simply not an option. ”Gonna bring a freakin’ ponytail holder--”
She stopped complaining when she heard the greeting. Okay, yes, her theory earlier was being modified. This guy wasn’t just some lowly dewgong child. He sounded like nobility. Maybe a son of Kyogre? He looked like he could pass as a prince of the sea. ”Hi,” she said, only slightly wary and more confused as to what he wanted. His manner of speech reminded her of something, mostly from when she was--oh, right. Those old traditions her grandparents had. When he bowed his head, she returned it, though the incline wasn’t appropriate as Dawn was pitifully out of practice when it came to her cultural heritage. ”I’m Dawn Berlitz. Same here…” She struggled for a moment. Hadn’t her grandmother told her it was rude to call strangers by their first name when she stayed at their house. Screw it, this dude wasn’t among those elders with all the traditions. ”Yami.” Of course, she meant same here regarding the semester and the nice-to-meet-you part as well.
Treading water, she ran another hand through her hair, noting how much more tame his seemed. A bit of jealousy welled in her heart. Did… did he have nicer hair than her?! ”You swim well. You on the team here?” Poor guy was probably cringing at her grammar.

Yami tread water softly keeping his chest and up above the water while keeping the rest submerged in water. When she said hi he could tell she seemed slightly wary of him and could tell she seemed confused. As to what she was confused for he did not know. She introduced herself as Dawn Berlitz, a rather unique name he thought. Dawn seemed to suit her. From what she followed with he took a stab that same here meant she was also starting her first semester, at least there were others in the same boat as him. He felt kind of odd attending a school with kids younger than him that would be in the same classes as he but he would just have to put up with it and do his best like he always did.
He nodded his head as she said his first name, now normally he was called by his last name a tradition that he had become a custom with living with his grandparents. He was tempted to bring the issue up but decided to let it go, he was no longer with his grandparents so he supposed there was nothing wrong with being called by his first name at all. He cringed slightly at her grammar but didn't show it deciding it mind offend her if it did and the last thing he wanted to do was offend her in any way, after all there was a chance he might for once be able to make a friend and he wasn't going to risk saying anything that would prevent that.
Yami brushed a wet strand of hair out of his eyes as he pulled his goggles up revealing his grey hues, "I do believe I am not currently holding a position on the swim team. Since joining this academy I've positioned myself on the fence, unsure whether or not I should join the swim team. A part of me desires to once again compete another wishes to stay on the side lines. This year I hope to focus on not my swimming career but on my trainer career. I have focused on my tournaments and competitions for eight years and have come to the conclusion I require a break. This does not mean however that if the swim team requires my aid that I will not lend it" spoke Yami as softly as before even while in the water he carried himself in a way that just screamed 'noble prince'.

Dawn had put him down firmly as Prince Yami, first born of Kyogre in her mind when she got a better feel for his speech pattern. Changing position to where she was floating on her back--if he thought she was gonna keep treading, he was dead wrong. Though, due to her low fat content, much of her went below the water’s surface, density at play and what not. With a flick of her own blue irises, she noted his eye color. Gray? She was tempted to call it odd, but, you know, she had blue hair. Pot, kettle, black.
However, when he mentioned eight years of swimming as a sport, whatever precarious balance she had on top of the water was ruined in her shock. She went under for the briefest of moments only to reemerge. She struggled with her bangs again before giving up and lifting part of her thick hair to looked Yami. ”Eight years?! Dude, I haven’t done anything for eight years straight!” That was a gross over-exaggeration, but the hyperbole could be forgiven as it got the point across. Though, when he mentioned the swim team needing his aid, she thought of this one show she occasionally watched when Leona streamed it for her.
”Geez, yeah, you need a break.” She once again returned to floating on her back, relaxing. ”So, you’re a trainer, then? You see the competition yet? Pretty stiff.” Was she referring to herself? No, but he couldn’t have known she was a coordinator. ”What team are you on, anyway, Yami?” Thus far she had met members of Team Johto and Kalos, and seen a few others. Her own team was rather impressive. She didn’t know much about the two boys on the Sinnoh team, but she kind of wanted to meet them. Their names were always on the scoreboard for this and that! It almost made her want to contribute more.
Almost.
”I’m on Team Sinnoh, by the way.” Represent!

Yami watched as Dawn decided to float on her back instead of keeping to tread water. He noted her surprise when she fell into the order at his statement. He suppose to some it would come as a shock that someone would do one particular thing for so many years in a row. Though eight years were small compared to others who had trained for much longer in other areas such as being a pokemon breeder or a pokemon trainer. People were known to spend an unknown number of years being a trainer and travelling the world until they had reached their goal or found a new goal so to him eight years as a swimmer seemed rather small.
Yami spoke softly, "The eight years while long weren't entirely my own idea. For those years I lived with my grandparents and they were quite strict. While it was my idea to join the team at my old school it was there decision to ensure I was trained properly. My schedule ensured that I rarely ever had time to myself to think" he relaxed in the water lying back eve so slightly letting the water roll across his skin and soak his muscles bathing them. When in water one always felt lighter then what they were.
"Yes I've decided to drop my career as a swimmer and become a trainer something my grandparents were entirely against. As to scoping out the rest of the competition I have only just arrived a few days ago and have been trying to fall into a schedule in order to familiarise myself with the layout of the academy and its surroundings. If anything you are the first student I have run into during my time here" spoke Yami softly as he addressed the female before him. It was true he had only arrived a few days ago collecting his first pokemon. He had taken the time to tour the school and make a virtual map in his mind so he would not get lost. He had yet to even meet his dorm-mate which he shared a room with.
So she wished to know what team he was in, should he comply or keep that a secret. She had revealed she was part of team Sinnoh. He thought on the idea but decided it wouldn't hurt to let her know he supposed, "I am on team Hoenn. I guess that makes us rival teams then" spoke Yami as he swam back a few inches and straightened himself up in the water.

Oh. She felt a bit of pity for the guy when he mentioned staying with his grandparents. If she had been stuck with her grandparents that long, she didn’t know what she would have done. Gone nuts, probably. She looked over. The first student he’d met? Hm, she was the first student a couple people had met, now that she thought about it. ”I’m the greeting commitee,” she half-joked. Was that an official title she could claim? That would look nice in the yearbook.
She could see it now. Most Likely to Greet New Students: Dawn Berlitz. Wait, no, ew, that made her seem like this fake sweet--oh, no. That. That was accurate. Fake sweet. She could be nice when she tried, but most of the time…
She swam over to the side of the pool, laughing lightly at the idea that the two of them were rivals. ”Yeah, maybe when it comes to looks--” should he be insulted that she was calling him girl-pretty or pleased that she thought he was good looking? Who knew. ”--but I’m not competing with any trainers.” She looked at the end of the pool, trying to judge what angle she should enter at. ”I mean, if you enter a contest, I’m totally gonna rip you a new one, but if not--”
There was a slight splash. She wasn’t quite good enough to make a perfectly clean entry, but the disturbance to the water was minimal. She remained underwater very briefly before re-emerging, her hair thankfully plastered back rather than against her face. ”--then we’ve got no issues.” If Yami had been looking for a chance to be friends with Dawn, that was probably as close to an invite as he was going to get.

Yami held back a chuckle as she half joked about being the greeting committee merely giving a short smirk of amusement at her words. He watched as she swam over to the side of the pool laughing lightly. Her comment on his looks made his smirk again he had been total many times he looked rather 'pretty' a pretty-boy most called him for his looks. His mother had told him he was what some would call a bishounen a male with a rather unique sex appeal and natural looks sometimes feminine his father had once joked that they shoul dress him up like a girl, his father had swiftly withdrawn the comment when the six year old Yami kicked him in the right shin.
He listened as she commented on not competing with any trainers, seemed like a nice idea. She had gotten out of the pool and seemed to be judging on what angle to enter in. So she was going to enter the pokemon contests instead. The contests personally didn't really appeal to him he was more for the raw battling and experience through combat, but he had taken that ideal from his grandfather during their self defence classes, he could still feel the bruises he had gained even if they had healed. His grandfather although in his seventies still acted like a spring chook full of energy in fact his grandparents still looked like they were in their fifties.
Yami lifted his hand blocking a small splash of water from hitting him as Dawn re-entered and said they had no problems if he wasn't in the contests, that was good to know. Yami swam to the edge of the pool and leaned against the wall arms on pools side, "Contests don't seem to be my thing never go into them so you won't have to worry about me participating against you. Besides Seiryuu prefers direct combat and would most likely be most displeased if I was to enter him into a contest of any sorts. He has quite the passion for combat though I suspect this is because of his type, after all Dragon's are quite the feisty creatures" spoke Yami mentioning one of his pokemon partners Seiryuu his Bagon. He could keep the identity of what species his pokemon were for now merely mentioning their nicknames and types.

She listened carefully as Yami spoke, waiting for the dreaded words. For some odd reason, a lot of trainers got on their high horse about contests. As if they were for chumps or something. Of course, Dawn would love for them to go through typical trainer things plus the challenge of making it look pretty. No coordinator was rough with their pokemon; unlike trainers, a coordinator’s pokemon required much more complex planning than simply “what’s gonna knock the other guy out fastest”.
”Yeah, because contests totally don’t demand strength from their contenders, right?” Oh, Yami had struck a nerve, it seemed. ”Probably for the best,” Dawn drawled. Oh, here came what earned her the title of Pride. ”I’d kick your butt, anyway.” Arrogant, vain, egocentric--all of them were Dawn’s other names. She made a special note to invest in a fairy type. Oh, a florges would look lovely on her team! So pretty.
”Aren’t they weak to ice types?” she pressed. Wait, hadn’t she just gotten done trying to make an alliance with this guy. ”Ugh, sorry. I got pissy. To each their own, or whatever.” She waved her hand noncommittally as she treaded water. Yeah, to each their own when it didn’t rub her the wrong way.
A thought suddenly struck her. ”Wait, where’d you get a dragon type?”

Yami had somewhat guessed his words might have been misunderstood in regards to contests. He sighed and brushed a strand of hair out of his face as it had fallen over his right eye, "I never instigated that they don't demand strength. I was merely stating contests were not my thing due to my pokemon's nature. While contests don't spark any interest with me they are a valuable form to show off ones pokemon in a rather unique manner. Of course contests battles also have a flare to them my Seiryuu would never forgive me if I put him into a contest" spoke Yami adding his cents again hoping to remove any misunderstanding between them on his previous words. He leaned his head back so it touched the brick work around the pools edge.
He didn't comment much on her kicking his butt, perhaps in a contest yes but in a straight up pokemon battle who knew. He had not yet had much bonding with his comrades or battle experience but it was slowly growing, "Yes they are weak to ice type pokemon but compared to other pokemon Dragon's only have two weaknesses one being ice and the other well I'm sure you already know if not I will keep that little secret to myself" spoke Yami with a small mischievous smile on his lips. The only other weakness Dragon pokemon had was against their own for some reason dragon's were weak to dragon type moves it was quite bizarre if he did say so
"I received my little dragon companion from Principle Sash during my aptitude test to determine whom my starter pokemon shall be. I am quite please with the result as our personalities match perfectly in synch" Yami yawned softly he still wasn't going to reveal its species after all one ace in the whole was good but two were better, "What about you what type of pokemon did you receive when you first started?" asked Yami fishing a little for information.

Only two weaknesses? Hm. She supposed it was ice and fairies then. Not that it mattered much to her. She had intention on getting the most gorgeous, beautiful pokemon species out there. Ice and fairies happened to be among that category, boasting everything from sylveon to dewgong.
She wondered if the dragon’s language was just as archaic as Yami’s. She put her hands on the side of the pool, pulling herself up on the second try. Crap, she really, really needed to work out more. Her stamina was absolutely pitiful. It probably didn’t help that her bottom half was way bigger than her top half, given her hips and all. Sitting on the side of the pool opposite Yami, Dawn began wringing her hair. ”Oh, so you met Principal Sash, huh? She’s pretty chill. Not what I’d expect from the head honcho of a school.” Of course, Dawn had grown up hearing horror stories about Professor Rowan. She sort of expected leaders in academic settings to be a bit terrifying.
Now, there were a lot of things Dawn was good at. Keeping a juicy secret was one. Her starter was, in her own opinion, not a juicy secret. ”I got a skitty.” Some might think normal types were weak, but the diversity they offered, coupled with their one weakness, made them reliable team members. Furthermore, her own skitty was an eager battler. She recalled the battle they had against the rotom. If Dawn ever became interested in being a ghost buster, she could totally use Psyche as her main weapon. ”She’s a sweetheart.”

Yami looked up at Dawn as she sat on the edge of the pool having pulled herself up and started to wring her hair out. Yami pulled himself up out of the water and walked over to his bag pulling out two sets of towels both navy blue. He walked back over to dawn and sat down beside her placing one of the towels next to Dawn gesturing for her to use it if she wanted. He grabbed his own towel and used it to dry his locks out before wrapping it over his shoulders. True when he had met Principle Sash she did not seem as strict as he thought that she night be. Being a principle of a school such as this he thought that she might have been a lot stricter than what she was. He suppose it was a nice change to what he was use to especially when he had been living in Saffron City.
So her pokemon was a skitty huh a normal type pokemon. Normal type pokemon were able to learn a variety of moves so they were useful but there only weakness was Fighting Type Pokemon. He held back a chuckle as she spoke of her Skitty being bit of a sweetheart. From just these brief moments with Dawn he could guess that her Skitty no doubt matched her own personality and was perfect for her. Yami looked out across the pool using his left hand to fiddle with the pokeball on his left hip attached to his belt. Yami grabbed the towel and stood up heading back to his bag wrapping the towel around his waist. He grabbed the bag throwing it over his shoulder.
"Its about time I headed back to my dorm. It was a pleasure to meet you Dawn." Yami bowed polity it was about time for him to leave. He needed to shower and get ready for the school assembly that was happening today, "If you ever wish to talk or schedule a pokemon battle hit me up with an email I should be in the school directory. Take care" Yami smiled softly and began walking back to the Hoenn dorm but stopped a few feet away, "Also I accept your challenge as rivals when it comes to looks" spoke Yami with a mischievous grin as he spoke in a joking maner.

Huh? She looked up, blinking a bit dumbly. ”Thanks.” She’d have to wash his town and return it to him. That was actually pretty nice. She’d brought one towel of her own, but if that meant she had a dry one to wrap around her hair, then, hey, she wasn’t about to reject that! She stood, using the dark blue towel to dry herself off, her thick, curly hair left to itself for a moment.
”See ya, Yami. Ditto.” She debated internally on bowing, but did at the last moment, giggling a bit. It was like a blast from the past. ”I will. Though, I suppose rivals shouldn’t hold on to each other’s towels. I’ll battle you when I get this clean, ‘kay?”
At the last moment, she suddenly realized he used the term ‘hit me up’ with all that old fashion jargon. Okay, maybe there was a bit more depth to this prince.
