Park battle and practice (finished)

The young maroon haired teen and her pokemon were enjoying the park, it was a bit nippy out yes, but at the same time it was refreshing. Playing in the snow December and Sandy spun around as they tried to put together something for the up coming contest. December was dressed like she normally dresses. A bit plainly however, today she had one thing different about her. Other then the blue jeans, purple shirt and white jacket, she also had on a bright blue toutou. Why? Well if she was gonna wear a dress during the contest she figured might as well wear something that sort of moves like one while she practiced.
As they spun around December was hard at work thinking about how to put things together. As well as needing to get more practicing in for battling. Sandy had gotten stronger since she first got her from the school, but that didn't mean Ember was a good trainer, just that her pokemon was smart. "Okay, try using your swift." The young Smoon girl said as she picked up a big pile of snow and throw it into the air before running out of the air. She then watched in aw as the ground pokemon shot stars up at the snow as it fell back towards the ground. "So pretty." December said softly as she watched. Species: Sandshrew Type: Name: Sandy Gender: Female Level: 11 Attacks: Scratch, Defense Curl, Sand Attack, Poison Sting, Rollout, Swift Egg Move: Rapid Spin Abilities: Sand Veil, Sand Rush Nature: Calm. Sandy is also very caring and loves to give hugs. She is also protective over her trainer, and often acts motherly. ooc: Open to anyone who wants to have a one on one battle with December. Also I don't know how to spell toutou.

Nate entered the park with Watcher on his heels. The trainer wanted to get in some special training with his partner since his battle against the first battle leader was coming out. He also had to think about the contest he was entering. He wanted to use Blaise for the appeals round, but now that Watcher knew swift, he was thinking about using him for the second stage. They would have to figure out some good combinations before then. He wished he knew more about contest battles.
He stopped when he saw a girl and her Sandshrew up ahead. From the looks of it, it appeared they were practicing combinations as well. He bet they were entering the contest too. A small smile formed on his face as he got an idea. Perhaps they would like to battle. It was sure to be good experience for both of them. Watcher followed him as he strolled over to the duo. "Hello," he greeted them. "I'm Nate, and this is Watcher. I liked how you used Swift with the snow. It looked nice."
The Eevee sat beside his trainer and looked at the Sandshrew. <Hello,> he greeted her with a friendly smile. <What's your name?> He loved meeting new Pokemon.

Practicing and playing in the snow sure felt nice. As the snow shimmered and fell down in smaller flakes when what had been thrown up Dec spun and danced. "Good job." She said to the smiling ground pokemon. Closing her eyes for a moment she opened them to see Sandy waving at someone behind her. So she turned around and just in time to hear Nate's voice. Blushing a little bit she gave him a polite yet shy smile. The blushing of her cheeks sort of looked like a blush by it also looked like they where turning color from the cold as well. "Oh, um hi." She said softly as he spoke.
Looking at Sandy for a moment she then looked back at Nate and spoke. "I am December, and...thank you. Sandy just learned it." Her voice was light and shy as she stood there fidgeting with with her fingers. It was such a weird nervous tick, but it was hers. "Are...you by chance...looking for a battle?" She asked as she looked at her feet for a few moments before looking at the boy's pokemon. At this school someone wanting to battle was a good guess and she thought that might be why he came to the park today.
Now as December talked to the boy Sandy smiled at the other pokemon. <Hi, I'm Sandy. What's yours? I love your fur.> The yellow pokemon said in a friendly cheerful voice to the Eevee. The girl seemed a bit soft-spoken and even shy as she spoke. Nate did not mind. He was patient, and he knew how to gently get people to open up to him. A battle would definitely help that. He found it could raise the confidence of trainers and even form some sort of bond between them. He smiled at her question. That was exactly what he had been thinking. He wondered if she had been waiting for someone to challenge. "Yes. We were hoping to get in some practice. Right, Watcher?" he looked down at the Eevee. He hoped he was prepared to battle.
<I'm Watcher,> the Eevee said to sandy. He smiled at her compliment. <Thank you.> At his trainer's question, he looked up at him and nodded. <Yep.> Then he grinned at Sandy. <So, you wanna battle?> It was bound to be fun!

Ember was glad that there where some people at the school that were okay with how she was. She has already found that some people would rather yell their heads off at her then wait for her to speak. Yet she also found that there where many people at this school that can't run for a long time or very fast either. Which was rather odd. Anyways, as he said yes they where hoping to get some practice she took a big breath before letting it out slowly and giving a smile. <Oh ya! It's what we do isn't it?> Sandy replied cheerfully to the Eevee.
"Okay then. I hope you are play with a one pokemon battle. I only have Sandy." She then said, a little braver at first, but then more shy at the end. Giving it a few moments she then moved away from Nate and Watcher to put a little more room between them for their pokemon. "Um, well I hope you are ready for us." She then said as she then looked down at Sandy. "Okay this is our second battle, so lets start off strong okay." She said and the pokemon nodded before standing in front of her ready. "Okay start with a defense curl and then hit them with your rollout." December said and Sandy started to run forward. Jumping into the air she curled up using defense curl to raise her defense as she then came back to the ground she started to roll towards the Eevee. Moving in a semi circle towards his left, only to make and 's' motion and come at him from the right at almost the last second.

Nate nodded at December. "That's fine with me." He could focus on training his Eevee right now. He backed up a little bit so there was some distance between them, and Watcher stood in front of him. "Try to dodge it," he said once he heard the other trainer's command. "Than use Baby-Doll Eyes and Swift." Both were new moves he wanted to try out. Plus, Baby-Doll Eyes had to go first, so he might as well take advantage of it, and Swift wasn't supposed to miss. He would have to worry about lowering the Sandshrew's defense later, which would eventually become necessary with her Defense Curl.
<Good luck,> Watcher said to Sandy before hopping over to his trainer. He took a battle stance, prepared to fight. He watched as the Sandshrew rolled in his direction. he tried to dodge, but he could not read her movements well enough, and she caught him off guard. He winced slightly as he was hit, but he was able to scramble to his feet and jump out of the way before it could happen again. He took a deep breath and looked at Sandy with baby-doll eyes, which would lower her attack power. Then he spun around and shot out sharp rays with his tail. Hey, that was fun!

The maroon haired girl nodded her head to the boy as she watched the battle. She was a little nervous when moves where being made, but luckily Sandy was calm and collected. Seeing the rollout land, Dec watched as the Sandshrew circled back away from the Eevee, The baby-doll eyes did something but December wasn't sure. She has heard of the attack move, but she wasn't sure what it did. As she thought about it she lost her focus for a second, but then remembered the battle. "Sandy look out. Left." She yelled but it was too late. As the pokemon rolled left the swift hit her. <Ooo.> Sandy yelled as the stars knocked her out of her rolling and she landed on the ground. That hurt but she refuse to lose that easy so she stood. "You okay?" Ember asked and Sandy nodded.
"Okay use sand attack, and then return the favor with your own swift!" Ember called out and Sandy ran forward a bit before she turned and started to throw sand and even snow as that what was on the ground towards the Eevee. Then as there was still some stuff in the air she turned around and throw her stars at the pokemon. She hoped she had fair enough arm. If the attack never missed, but she did well, oops. "Try to shield yourself!" Nate called when he saw the Sand Attack coming. If Watcher got sand in his eyes, there could be trouble. As expected, the Eevee got hit by the Swift. The trainer remembered a combination they had used in the virtual training machine, and he decided to test it out here. He wanted to see if it would work well in a contest battle. "Alright, Watcher, do a flip in the air, use Tail Whip, and then Tackle!" They were probably going to have to do a lot of practice to perfect it, but it would be worth it in the end.
Watcher ducked his head when the sand and snow flew at him. He was too distracted to do much about the oncoming Swift. He fell to the ground, but he was able to get up quickly. He took a deep breath before performing the combination instructed of him. He took a running started and leapt into the air. He moved his tail back and forth while he spun. Then, as he started to come down, he aimed for the Sandshrew. If he did not hit her, he would land on the ground and attempt to run at her for the Tackle. He thought one of them was bound to work.

The boy and his pokemon where good, and as the sand attack seemed to fail December knew she had to figure out a plan to either get her an edge or keep the small one she already had with their defense. As far as pokemon type match ups go they seemed to be about even, oh, if only Sandy knew a fighting type move. Alas she did not. However, as December watched the swift land, she listened to what Nate said next to his pokemon.
Seeing the Eevee come after Sandy by flipping and using tail whip she knew they had to do something about that. The tail whip had been a success so that meant her Pokemon's defense would be back to normal. "Sandy defense curl now!" The maroon haired girl yelled out quickly. As the Eevee came after her Sandy quickly curled up into a ball and as Tackle hit she few backwards and bounced on the ground before rolling a few feet backwards. "Keep curled and use Rollout!" December said and even though Sandy was a little shaken for that bouncing hurt, the pokemon stopped her rolling backwards and moved forward towards Watcher. Hopefully this works. Ember thought to herself. Nate was glad his strategy worked, though it was not as effective as it could have been due to Sandy's Defense Curl. Still, this battle was far from over. He quickly tried to think of a way for Watcher to dodge the rolling Sandshrew. His jumping abilities had worked for him before, so maybe they would prove useful now. "Stay calm, Watcher. Jump over her and use Swift in the air!" If it worked, it would look good as well.
Watcher jumped back when he hit the rolled up Sandshrew. He wished she would stop doing that. He took a deep breath as she started to roll towards him. He could do this. He ran forward to meet her halfway, not caring if she zig-zagged around. At the last second, he leapt into the air. While he was sailing to the ground, he shot another stream of stars to hopefully strike his opponent. He wobbled a little as he landed, but he was able to regain his balance.

Watching December had hoped that with the Rollout giving them more speed that they would be able to hit them. Wasn't that how the move worked? Maybe not, maybe it was if used more then one turn at a time, not broken up. She would have to do some research on it later. For now she just watched and she was in awe a little as she saw the Eevee jump over Sandy. "Wow, nice height." She said towards Nate. She knew Sandy wouldn't mind her cheering a little for the other team. That pokemon was many things and one thing she knew was that her Sandshrew loved it when December did things to possible grain her friends. Watching Sandy she really didn't have too much time from the cheer to the time when Sandy went bouncing and then crashing to the ground with a thud.
"You okay?" She asked her pokemon as it looked like the Sandshrew was struggling a little to get up. Oh man, it looked like Sandy took a critical hit with that one. Thank goodness her defense was up. "Sandy get up and used ... poison sting." Ember called out. Using the same attacks seemed not to be working. So maybe if they poisoned them it would help give her an edge. Sandy who was a bit dizzy from the rolling soon and quickly forced herself up before she looked at the Eevee and started running towards it. Swiping her arm with glowing nails she aimed for the fluffy pokemon and hoped for the best. "Thanks," Nate said in response to December's compliment. "We've been working hard on it." He was sure it would work great in a contest, especially if they worked on different moves with Watcher's bushy tail. The possibilities seemed endless. "Dodge it!" he exclaimed when he saw the Poison Sting coming. If the Eevee was poisoned, it would be bad move. He decided to go with their most effective combination just in case. "Use Tail Whip and Tackle!"
Watcher had tried to get out of the way of the Poison Sting, but he was struck by Sandy's long nails. He grit his teeth when he felt poison flow through his body. This was not good. A determined look crossed his face at his trainer's command. He could still win this! He took a few steps back before swishing his tail. Then he raced towards the Sandshrew, hoping to hit her.

It looked like neither Pokemon would be able to hold on for much longer. The next couple of attacks would decide the battle. Nate watched as his Eevee was hit by the Swift. One more like that and he would be out. They were going to have to do something to stop that from happening. Time was of the essence, so Nate decided on the first combination that came to mind. "Hang in there, Watcher. Use Sand Attack and Swift!" Hopefully this would do it. If not, they were just going to have to hang on.
Watcher was glad his attack had worked. However, he had also been hit by Sandy's Swift. He stood there for a moment as he breathed deeply. The Sandshrew was not bad. He hoped she was enjoying the battle like he was. When he had caught his breath, he rushed forward and pushed up sand, dirt, and snow at his opponent. Then he turned and shot out his own swift at her. He could still feel the poison running through his veins, and he wondered if his attack would be enough.
