The students at Cherrilli Academy are just like the kids at any other school. They have their friends, enemies, boyfriends and girlfriends, and tons of drama, but they are Pokemon trainers! Each trainer is a member of a team that represents a Pokemon region. The teams compete against each other for the grand prize at the end of the semester. Good luck!

OOC: It's time for the contest! Performances will be in reverse alphabetical order by last name: Ayame Sokowasa, December Smoon, Nate Kerston, Kiki Jones, Angelica Fitzgerald, Zoey Clowes. If it is your turn and you do not post within 24 hours, you will be disqualified. The results will be posted once everyone is finished and the staff gets them in. Four students will advance to the second round. Feel free to post characters in the audience. Do your best and good luck.
It was the first Pokemon Contest at Cherilli Academy and Principal Sash was excited. She had never entered contests herself, but she enjoyed watching them. She was glad they were now a part of the academy. She could not wait to see all of the great talent her students possessed. The stands were already filled with students cheering to support their team and friends. In front of them sat the judges: Miss Riverton, Mr. Knight, and Mr. Winston.
Sash was standing on the stage, and she stepped forward towards the edge with a microphone in her hand when it was time to begin. "Good morning, Cherilli Academy," she said loudly. "Welcome to the first quarterly Cherilli Academy Pokemon Contest! I am sure there is a grand show in store for us. We have six contests today, and they are all waiting to show off their hard work and skills. Let's give a warm welcome for Ayame Sokowasa!" She smiled and stepped to the right so that Ayame would have space to perform. It was time to begin!

Butterflies, butterflies everywhere... In Ayame's stomach that was. She was flamboyant, but going first was a complete other deal. She wore a dark shaw that covered most of her outfit, along with a darkly leaf colored bandana that covered her hair. Ayame looked around as she strolled forward, confused looks to from the crowd. She breathed heavily. She clutched her pokeball that contained her Silcoon... which was incredible shy. She gave him hours of pep talk and he only agreed for what they would pull off next.
"Silcoon! Spotlight!" She lifted her sealed pokeball into the air.
This was it, Silcoon's heart was pumping so hard that he could feel the Rare Candies stuffed into his cocoon rattling.
The pokeball broke the seal, and Silcoon found himself turning into green leaves and get blown around into a tornado. He reformed and plopped onto the ground. Taking his little arms, he took the two rare candies and ate them. She started glowing.
Ayame reassuring voice came, "Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss.... You'll land on a star, Silcoon!"

The blinding glow of the evolution started dying down. As that happened, Ayame tore off the shaw and the bandana that covered her flower themed outfit. Under the bandana was a large bun with a braid coming out of it. From Ayame's temples expended two small braids that loosely connected to the bun. Her hair was decorated graciously with flowers and pollen... Good thing she didn't have Spring allergies.
Her dress is a long, and graceful, and is made to look like a pink lily. The collar, a light yellowish gold faded out to white at the torso, and then to a pastel pink at the bottom of the dress, which curled up. She also had a long woven strand draped off her arms and tied onto her wrists... with colorful flowers embroidered.
The Beautifly, gained more confidence at the "oohs" and "wows" from the audience, but was still afraid. He unfolded his wings and scattered the rainbow-like scales that accumulated inside his cocoon when he was still a Silcoon.
"Glory, show your beautiful silk."
Having evolved, his silk had grown much more fine. Glory pointed his long mouth at the sky and started spitting out stands that resembled fireworks... He struggled on his wings for a bit, then made a glorious lift-off into the air.
<Boy, this is hard.>
"Now show your Poison Sting! Shoot it at your silk!"
Glory kept his momentum and shot Poison Stings all around him careful not to hit the crowd. They caught to the string and got wrapped in the substance. The needles spun and parachuted down like raindrops, to where they disappeared.

Principal Sash watched the performance in awe. It was not often that coordinators chose to evolve their Pokemon during a contest. It was a risky move because certain combinations had not been practiced with the newly evolved Pokemon. It seemed to work well for Ayame, though. "My, how beautiful," she said into the microphone. "Coordinator an Beautifly flow together well. And what an entrance!" She smiled as she waited to see if the student had anything else before walking off the stage.

Principal Sash smiled when Ayame and her Beautifly bowed. "Wonderful," she said. "Thank you, Ayame and Glory." She paused as the audience applauded. "Next up, we have December Smoon!" She lowered her microphone as she waited for the next contestant to appear. The event seemed to be going well so far. She could not wait to see what else was would occur.

Today was the day and that morning December Smoon found herself in a panic. She was just a shy bookworm how had been forced to come here by her parents, and the only reason she had entered the contest was because of her navy haired roommate. Oh, but Dawn was not here, she would not be taking part in the March Contest like planned. Suspended. Why in the name of all things pokemon had Dawn gotten herself suspended? The maroon haired girl hoped it hadn't been something the girl had done because of her. Had it been because of the cave trip with Yami and herself? That had been when Dawn just vanished for an unclear reason. Well, today was not the day to dwell on any of those thoughts and that morning December knew that, but still. Still she found herself in a corner for some time in the morning in her dorm hyperventilating. Thankfully enough her mother and father had came to the school to watch the contest, as well as three of her siblings and their families. So, it hadn't been like the Smoon girl didn't have any support and it had been her mother who talked her out of the corner and into calming down.
After all she and Sandy had practiced, and practiced very hard together. All she had to do was look out at all the people watching her, watching them and focus on her family which made up about fourteen people. That and it wasn't like all the people around here where complete strangers, they where her classmates, teachers, teammates and friends. She could do it, she would do it.
As the contest became closer December got herself ready, and got Sandy ready. Freeze had wanted to help, but the pokemon was so little and Ember’s little four and a half year old niece kept trying to lick the pokemon thinking he was ice cream. Oh, that poor Vanillite, well at least the child didn't dig her teeth into him, and the pokemon just giggled when the girl did it. Still, it didn't help December relax any, but at the same time it did knowing Freeze was being watched over by her niece and brother in law while the females, older females where helping her get ready. Of course not all of them could fit in her dorm room and she was pretty sure Ayame wouldn’t like guys in as she was getting ready herself. Therefore while December, her mother, three sisters and two nieces who where ages seven and eight where in the dorm, everyone else from her family had been out front of the dorm building watching the littler members of the family.
Oh her family she loved them so very much, and she was thankful that her sisters helped her with her hair and make up. That day for the show she wore a long purple dress. It had white lace overlaid on the chest, waist and on the skirt part of the dress which was sort of fluffy, and a bit tutu like as well. She had chosen purple because it was her team’s color. The dress it’s self had been a prom dress that she had altered to not be as low cut, and to have sleeves that sit on the shoulders. She didn't want to show anything off after all, well not that she had anything to show off. Her hair was done up. She had washed her hair in something that gave her a beautiful shine and so her hair had been curled and placed in a bun with some strains hanging down her face. The make up on her face was softly placed yet it seemed to do a wonderful job making her blue eyes pop, and today she wore her contacts. She was unused to them, and found she liked her glasses more, but she would make do none the less.
As two of her sisters had helped her with her hair and makeup, her other sister and her mother had gotten Sandy ready. The yellow pokemon was pampered as her scales where cleaned and rubbed until she shined. The Sandshrew even received a good nail shining, and got her teeth brushed something that December noticed the pokemon enjoyed. All bright eyed and ready to go the maroon haired girl had been transformed into a purple beauty, and as she recalled Sandy to her pokeball she also picked up two other balls that looked to be white in color. However, they where simply just clear and where full of cold snow. It was cold enough out that the snow hadn't all melted and she had kept the balls in the freezer. Making her she was completely ready the young teen then left and headed to the contest area.
She arrived around ten minutes before it had started, which had been plenty of time for her to check it and go over what she was going to do again in her head. Making sure everything was ready and set she felt like she was going to throw up when Sash said they would be going in reverse order of last names. Oh, goodness that meant she was first, but as she started to panic a bit she was surprised that Ayame had been called out first. Hmm, that was interesting she could sworn it would have been her. Well maybe it had been because both their names started with ‘s’, but with her roommate’s first name starting with ‘a’? December didn't know, but she was silently glad.
Watching the teal haired beauty as she did her thing, the maroon haired girl was in awe as her teammates pokemon evolved on stage in front of their eyes. “How pretty.” She whispered as she watched. Then she started to shake.
It was now her turn. Oh, gosh! Oh, gosh! She felt her stomach turn and thought she was going to be sick for sure, but as she turned to run away she was stopped by her brother who had shown up just because the contest and without December knowing. She thought he was traveling with the band, oh but he was here for her. After all he had taken part in his fair share of contests as well, and well being up on stage with the band all the time. He understood her fear and that was a fact that she knew. No words where said they just hugged, and she was turned back around and given a little push. Yet as he was shoving her she heard him whisper that she could do it in her ear.
Stepping out on stage she was shaking, and surely everyone could see that for it wasn't softly either. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath, and when it was time to start the teen forced a pretty smile on her face and held onto the three balls in her hands. Touching the buttons she opened her eyes as she throw all three balls up in the air and spoke loudly. “Starlight, stars so bright, Sandy let your stars shine!” She said as she spun around in a twirl. The pokeball opened and out popped Sandy the Sandshrew who spun around as well matching her trainer. The pokemon was using rapid spin and at the same time used her swift to send stars flying elegantly and beautifully towards the two other balls December has thrown up. As the stars flew the balls opened releasing the snow that had been within them. Then as the stars hit the snow at different levels in the air thanks to the spinning the sky, the ceiling started to glow. It lit up in a shinning show as the snow fall slowly back down to the ground covering Sandy and December in the fine shimmering flakes. Sandy had already landed on December’s out stretched hand that had been over her head and together they balanced as the spun downwards, slowly lowering to the ground until the where a rolled up ball together of purple, red and yellow, covered in small white snowflakes that seemed to be more like specks of glitter. That was the end of their show, and hopefully they did good. As she could hear the music stop and the crowd clapping and cheerful the two of them rose up, looked out at the crowd and too a bow. Then once done December gathered up Sandy in her arms and the two walked off the stage.

Sash kept her eyes on the three balls as December began her performance. The Sandshrew appeared as expected, and then she broke open the other balls. The principal let out a small gasp when she saw there had been snow in the balls. "Wow, they have actually made it snow on stage," she said into the microphone. She was awed by the way Sandy's Swift caused the snow to glimmer and light up the ceiling. The ending was beautiful with the snow falling down on trainer and Pokemon. "Spectacular. Thank you for a truly unique performance, December and Sandy." She smiled, waiting for the audience to quiet down. "Next, please welcome Nate Kerston!" He was the only boy signed up, and she hoped he did well to inspire others to try out contests in the future.

Nate had arrived early for the contest with his Charmander Blaise and Eevee Watcher. Blaise was the Pokemon he was using in the appeals round, but Watcher wanted to watch and cheer them on. The three of them observed the first two performances from the TV in the back room. He thought they were pretty good, and he hoped one of them would win if he did not, for they were all from Sinnoh and had to stick together. Now it was his turn. "Wish us luck," he said to Watcher before returning Blaise to his Pokeball. He gave December a small smile when she returned to the room. "Good job." Then he strode confidently onto the stage.
Nate was wearing yellow pants and a red blazer with an orange shirt underneath. He wanted to resembled fire like his Charmander. "Time to burn brightly, Blaise!" he said as he threw the Pokeball into the air. "Use Smokescreen and Scratch!"
Blaise appeared in a flash of red and yellow light. He immediately blasted the air above him and at his level with a dark cloud of smoke. He then spun in the air to get a forward motion. Ashe started to fall to the ground, he reached out his claws to rake the smoke that he could reach. The bottom of the smoke cloud formed swirling wisps form the Scratch. Blaise landed on his feet and grinned at the audience.
"Now spin and use Ember straight up!" Nate instructed.
Blaise started to spin around in a circle. Once he got some momentum going, he lifted his left foot so he was spinning on his right. Then he lifted his head and shot out his Ember at the cloud of smoke. The fire balls formed a sort of funnel emerging from the Charmander as they were blasted in the air. The fire caused the smoke to disperse and form shapes and patterns in the air. Blaise stopped spinning and struck a pose with his arms in the air. He hoped the judges would be impressed with his power.
"Thank you, Blaise." Nate and his Charmander bowed. Then Blaise hopped over to his trainer and followed him off the stage.

Sash watched the fire Pokemon preform his movies. The smoke looked pretty cool, and the Charmander was obviously strong and healthy. She liked the theme of fire colors. "Scratch and Ember have had interesting effects on the Smokescreen," she said. "And spinning near his trainer with that fire is beautiful. Thank you, Nate and Blaise." She paused for a moment. "Next, we have Kiki Jones!"
Post by Kiki Jones on Mar 22, 2014 20:14:50 GMT -5
Kiki was excited for the first contest of the year. She was still unsure if she wanted to be a coordinator, but this should help her out. At the very least, it would be a fun experience. She watched the first three contestants back stage by herself. She enjoyed watching everyone's unique style. When he name was called, she started for the stage, nodding at Nate as she passed him. It was time to get started.
The girl walked out onto the stage and gave the audience a small. She was wearing a simple green sundress with yellow flowers all over it. Her her air was straight with two braids on each side of her face. She reached for a Pokeball. "Show them what you've got, Alice!" She released the Chikorita, who appeared before her on the stage. She smiled and gave a little wave. "Use Razor Leaf Twice!"
Alice did not need further instructions to know what to do. They had practiced this a lot before the contest. She shot her leaves into the air at a 60 degree angle. Then she rushed forward to the other side of the stage. She quickly turned around and flung out more leaves at the same angle. The two sets of leaves flew at each other from opposite angles. The collisions cut the leaves in half, even producing some sparks.
"Now use vine Whip!"
Alice moved forward a bit and turned around so she was facing the audience. As the leaves started to fall to the floor, Alice truck out her vines and pushed them back up in the air. She did this repeatedly, so it looked sort of like juggling. Eventually, all of the leaf halves were high in the air.
"Now use Poison Powder and finish it off with one more Razor Leaf!"
Alice released a cloud of poisonous powder into the air. Then she shot her sharp leaves straight up. The leaves hit the powder, making the air sparkle and glisten. The half leaves that fell from the sky only add to the dazzling, glittery powder. The Chikorita jumped back to avoid the falling leaves. She stood before her trainer and smiled.
Kiki bowed while Alice waved again. "Thanks a lot, Alice," she said happily. The two of them turned and walked off the stage together. They were anxious to find out the results of their efforts, but they knew they had tried their best.

Principal Sash thought the trainer and her Chikorita looked cute together. The leaves certainly added to the springy feel. Their use with the Poison Powder was quite pretty as well. "An excellent use of Razor Leaf," she said. "Vine Whip was a good addition. The Chikorita seems to be having fun as well. Thank you, Kiki and Alice." Now there were only two contestants left. My, was time flying by! "Next up, welcome Angelica Fitzgerald!"
Post by Angelica Fitzgerald on Mar 23, 2014 2:50:15 GMT -5
Angelica Fitzgerald was having all sorts of fits that morning. First she had tossed and turned all night long until about four in the morning. At around four she finally was able to get some good rest, but it cost her and the blue haired girl found herself rushing to get ready. Her alarm hadn’t gone off like it should have for some reason, but even though that reason was until she simply didn’t have time to worry about it. She didn’t eat breakfast, she just rushed to get ready having woken up two hours before the contest, unlike waking up four like she had planned too.
She put her hair back in a ponytail and curled it in an elegant yet rather messy fashion. There was no make up on her face, and her dress was rather simple, yet at the same time it was very pretty. Or so she thought anyways, for it was her team color - navy blue. It did have some silver bling to it as well, but she was taking a bit of a risk with it thanks to the slip on it. However, where as some people might say the slip goes clear up to there - butt. On her it only goes up to about an inch over the knee as she had altered it a little bit. Still with her long slender legs she wouldn’t have shown off too much. Still she hadn’t wanted to go on stage, start doing her thing and have Turner stop her to yell about her dress.
Quickly brushing her teeth and putting on some silver earrings, a bracelet and her silver high heels which where two inches tall she cleaned up Peanut and grabbed the things that where needed before rushing out the door heading to the contest area.
Arriving she had enough time to check in and head to the back room. While the contest started she was thankful she was going second to last as it gave her time to finish setting up her stuff. Of those things she had an empty and clean peanut butter jar with a blue lid, opening it up she placed small silver balls in them. They were about the size of a ping pong ball maybe a little bigger, and they where metal. The two of them had practiced this idea for many weeks now and Angelica wasn’t sure if they where ready, but she knew this was what she wanted to do. And if it goes bad today she could always just grin and bare it until she get okay enough to say enough and be a breeder or something after she finishes school. Rubbing another ball, she made sure it shined. Not that the teal colored ball could really shine as rubber didn’t shine that well. Hey she needed something to ground the electric pokemon, and the ball was all rubber, and a little bigger then a basketball.
Sliding a pair of long white gloves on both of her hands she was ready. Now the gloves looked like cotton for on the outside they where, but on the inside they where also rubber to protect her from getting shocked.
She was then called and quickly she made her way to the stage, smiling at Kiki as she past her. As she was called up, she stood in the middle of the stage until music started to play of a piano. It had a sweet gentle sound at first. Allowing her smile to grow wider at the people watching she took the large blue rubber ball and her pokemon’s pokeball which was hidden from view behind it and throw them up in the air. “Time to take center stay Peanut!” She called out, and the music started to move faster, in not some ironic chase theme type way, but in an excitement type of way. It hid the sound of the pop, but as the electric mouse pokemon came out of his pokeball he grabbed the blue ball with his arms and spun forwards with it while it was still heading upwards.
When her pokemon and the ball where close to the ceiling Angelica took out the silver balls and started to juggle them high into the air. “Like a wild western wind,” She said and she said in a sweet almost story teller voice which was a cue for her pokemon, and a cue that was followed well enough. Peanut pushed off the ceiling with his hind feet as he used quick attack to get a head of the ball, then held onto it with his tail zooming down towards Angelica. “The storm shall always rage on,” The teen then added and Peanut sent out a thunder wave which caught onto the six silver balls that his trainer was juggling making them light up, and creating a circle of yellow light. “Long live the wind!” The girl with the ice blue hair then said with a proud voice and Peanut used quick attack again to fall into her hands and gather up all the silver balls while Angelica also juggled him and the blue ball. The teen throw up her pokemon as he tossed up the silver balls nuzzling each one to make sure they where still covered in the yellow glow that zapped around them. The blue ball then landed in Angelica’s hands which where stretched out above her head, and soon after Peanut landed on the ball, he was on his hands doing a handstand. A wobbly one, but after a moment he got his balance to settle down while he juggled now, using his tail.
Slowly Angie moved her right hand away from the ball and gave a bow. They where done with their show, and the music finally slowed. Now was the tricky part of catching the silver balls and Angie was unsure if Peanut could do it as he hadn’t mastered it yet. Throwing the balls up in the air with his tail the pokemon shifted to his feet on the ball and gave a bow. No he wasn’t going to do what they had practice for he was way to happy with the cheering. The balls fall to the ground one of them hitting Angie right in the head. The surprise of the object knocked her to her knees, and dazed her. The electric moves that had been used before on it still lingered and she found the thunder spreading throw her hair and down her dress. Ouch, nurse? Maybe later, for her and Peanut as one of the other balls hit him as well and he spun around on his trainer’s head ready to fight. Running forward he hastily picked up each ball and put them in the peanut butter jar, before stopping in front of Angelica where he bowed and gave a wink.
Seeing that the dizzy teen forced herself up, scooping up the big ball, and her pokemon at the same time while watching off stage to go sit down with the other in the back room. Oh great, they sure messed that one up and man did she have a head ache.
Post by Principal Sash on Mar 23, 2014 11:22:04 GMT -5
Principal Sash found herself yet again surprised at the next performance. She would have never thought to use balls in a performance that way. My, her students really were creative. "What a great storm theme for an electric Pokemon," she said. "It seems both trainer and Pokemon have talent. Wonderful show." But it appeared that it did not end how they had planned. She winced slightly as a ball fell on the girl and her Pokemon. "Oh dear. I hope they are both alright. Thank you, Angelica and Peanut." She wondered how the ending would affect their score. They done very well up until them. "Lastly, we have Zoey Clowes!"
