Just as a note I may or may not over step boundaries as a simple member.
Firstly I just want to address that since four members have left the site (maybe five) Rae, Jack, Thrace and Iason with the fifth possibly being Heero about 1/3rd of the members here activity on the site has dropped especially with two of those being thread mods leaving Sash and Sammy who do a great job. Because these members have gone activity on the site has dropped dramatically making the site not look very active for new members. And for new members the first thing they look at is the activity of the boards. I do have a suggestion but this would probably throw a lot more work onto Sash and Sammy which is why I also have a suggestion that might help to relieve some of the work.
Onto the suggestions first is just throwing the idea out that perhaps increase the number of mod threads one can participate in until the site gets more active members. I.E bumping it from one modded thread to two. Of course this would have to come with a few restrictions. I've been thinking and only making a suggestion for the staff to consider this if they do decided to bump from one mod thread to two. Have so that at the beginning of each post the member splits their pokemon team and state at in the first post which pokemon they will be using. E.G for example say my character goes to the beach and lava caves. At the beach in the first topic I say I will use Dedenne, Vulpix and Absol while at the Lava caves I post saying I will only use Onix, Bagon and Noibat. Basically if in two modded threads they can't use the same pokemon in either of those threads: example: so if i'm using or used Bagon in the Lava cave I can't be using him at the beach. At the start of each post they must also add a link to their other mod thread for the person modding to be able to check to see if they are not breaking this rule.
If someone wishes to challenge a gym eg Jenna they have to have exited all other mod threads and can only be in one mod thread while versing a gym. Example I can be having a modded thread at the lava caves the same time I'm versing the gym leader nor can I make any other modded threads till I've finished my gym battle.
Secondly this of course would put a lot of stress onto sash and sammy if the idea above is used as there would be more threads to mod. That is why I'm suggesting you put up two moderator applications. These mods would be specifically aimed at modding threads without any other duties allowing Sash and Sammy to divert there attention else where (only modding threads when the other two mods are unable to or if they wish to mod a thread).
Third perhaps focus on the use of a reward system outside of the regular promotions? Examples could be at the end of each week a member is given a reward for catching the most pokemon that week, or who has earned the most battles or whose pokemon have gained the most levels and do it team based. Example of the levels say Jim from team Kanato has a lvl 10 Pikachu and lvl 10 Squirtle while Timmy also from team Kanto has a lvl 10 Geodude and lvl 10 Charmander. At the end of the week Jim' Pikachu is lvl 15 and his Squirtle lvl 16 while Timmy's Geodude is now lvl 20 and his Charmander lvl 19. Jim's pokemon had gone up a total of 11 lvls while Timmy's had gone up a total of 19 levels so Timmy is the winner of the lvls of the Kanto teams and gets a little prize. If there is a tie a shared prize. The prize could be money, rare item or a rare pokemon/egg.
Fourth: Perhaps an incentive for advertising? So that when members advertise and post with links to all the sites they advertised on they get some sort of reward like $100 each link. This would encourage members to advertise if they got some sort of reward. Same with if they bring members eg every 5 members they bring to the site they get a rare pokemon/egg or item or 1 rare candy for each member they bring something like that.
Fifth: Perhaps to encourage new members to join perhaps have a constant promotion that when you sign up you get something like $1,000 and a Pokemon of a single type of your choice but only after they have made a character, have it approved and say have made-finished 1 modded thread or done 15 posts.
