Gary oak and his Farfetch'd Scout stood off to the side in the training area of the courtyard. They were currently working on Scout's flying moves and general flight pattern. The flying type flew in circles around his trainer's head. "Good job, Scout," Gary said. "Why don't we take a break?" The Farfetch'd flew down, landing in front of the student. He would prefer to keep on training, but he listened to his trainer. Perhaps later they would pick up where they had left off.
Gary wished he had some food with him to give to his Pokemon as a reward. He only owned common Pokemon food. He remembered what Nate had told him about special food, and he wondered where he could get some. For now, maybe a drink at the fountain would be a good idea. "Come on," he said to Scout, lifting his arm. The bird flew up and landed on his arm. In this way, Gary carried him over to the Gyarados fountain. As he sat down, Scout fluttered down to stand on the cement next to him. "You should take a drink." Scout turned and dipped his head in the pool. The trainer did not think it was a good idea for humans to drink from the water, so he just watched.

Kiki was still trying to figure out the perfect Pokeblock recipe for her Pokemon. They all liked what she had made so far, but it was still not just right. She had just gotten done with a huge batch that, unfortunately, her Pokemon could not finish because they found it distasteful. Instead of throwing them away, the trainer had the idea to walk around the academy and see if anyone else had any Pokemon that might happen to like this Pokeblock. If any did, she would give their trainer the recipe. She loved helping other out.
Alice walked with her into the courtyard while she carried a tin of Pokeblock in her arms. The weather was much nicer than it had been recently, and there were several people outside enjoying the day. Kiki's eyes fell upon a trainer she recognized form her classes. He was currently sitting on the fountain with his Farfetch'd. She put on a smile and strolled over to him. "Hello," she said. "You're Gary, right?"
<Hi,> the Chikorita said, smiling as well. She always enjoyed the company of other people and Pokemon.

Gary did not notice that someone had walked over to him until he heard the person speak. He turned his head to see who it was. He recognized the girl from some of his classes, and he thought he remembered her name. "That's me. And you're Kiki?" His eyes fell to the bucket in her arms. He could not help but wonder what was inside. "What's that?" He hoped he was not being rude; he was just genuinely curious.
Once he had finished drinking, he turned around to inspect the girl and her Chikorita. <Hello,> he said to Alice. <My name is Scout.> He wondered if she was any good at battling. Their trainers seemed to know each other. Maybe they would battle soon. He always relished a chance to show off and test his skills.

Kiki nodded. "Yeah, that's my name." She smiled when he mentioned her bucket. Now was a great time to bring it up. She hoped the Farfetch'd was hungry. "I made some Pokeblock, but my Pokemon don't like it too much. 'm going around to see if I can find any fans. Would some of your Pokemon want to try some?" If no one liked this batch, it would not offend. She was just going to have to try again harder the next time. She opened the lid of her bucket to let the smell loose and perhaps attract the attention of Scout.
<I'm Alice,> the Chikorita said, smiling at the Farfetch'd. <How are you doing today?> It was a rather pleasant day, and she wondered if he had been up to anything in particular.

Gary immediately became interested when Kiki mentioned Pokeblock. That was exactly what he had been thinking he needed. He was glad he had finally found someone who knew how to make it. "That would be great, actually. I've been needing to find something special for Scout here to eat so he stays away from my Joltik." He smiled down at his Farfetch'd. "What do you think, buddy?" He wondered if Kiki was from Hoenn, which would explain how she knew how to make Pokeblock. He would ask later. For now, he had to take care of his Pokemon's needs.
<Not bad,> Scout said to Alice. <I was just practicing my flying.> He perked up at the mention of food. He did not know what Pokeblock was, but it smelled good. <Yes, I want some.> All of that training had made him hungry!

Kiki grinned at what Gary said. Excellent. It was terrible that the flying type wanted to eat his trainer's bug type, but if her Pokeblock could help ease the tension, the girl would be glad to help. She gave the Farfetch'd a tentative smile. At least he looked eager. "Hello, Scout. Here you go." She set the bucket on the cement next to Gary. Then she picked up one Pokeblock and held it out to Scout for him to take. She hoped this would work.
Alice nodded at Scout. <Flying looks fun.> She smiled when Kiki offered him some food. <Kiki's Pokeblock is usually pretty good.> Except for this batch, of course. Maybe the flying type would enjoy it, though.

Scout lifted his head and took the Pokeblock in his beak. He did not want to risk losing part of it by breaking it, so he swallowed it in one bite. Immediately, he felt his spirits lift. That had been delicious! <I want more!> he said to Kiki. He could not remember the last time he had had such a delicious treat.
Gary chuckled at his Pokemon's demanding attitude. "I guess he likes it." He smiled, pleased at this result. He would have to get the recipe from Kiki so he could make the Pokeblock himself. He was not much of a cook, but he would work at it for his Pokemon. "Do you think my Joltik could come out and tr some as well?" He thought it would be polite to ask. Plus, he did not want to June to be out if Scout would object. There was a possibility for this plan to backfire.

Kiki also laughed at Scout's reaction. She was glad he enjoyed the Pokeblock. "Of course you can have more." She took another piece, but this time, she set it down on the concrete next to the Farfetch'd. She wanted to give him the opportunity to savor the taste this time. She glanced at Gary when he spoke. "Go ahead." If both feuding Pokemon liked the food, perhaps they could bond over it. She was happy to have been of service.
Alice smirked in amusement as she watched Scout. Someone was excited about that food. <I know, Kiki's Pokeblock is the best.> She hoped her trainer would make more for her soon.

"Make sure to thank her," Gary said to Scout. Once the flying type started eating the second Pokeblock, he pulled out a Pokeball and released the creature inside. June appeared on the ground before him. He smiled at her to make her feel comfortable. "Hello, June. Our friend Kiki has a treat for you." He nodded at the girl, telling her to go ahead. He hoped this would work.
Scout grunted at his trainer. <Thank you,> he muttered to Kiki. He would say anything to get this food. He ignored June as he broke off a piece of the Pokeblock. He savored the flavor in his mouth before swallowing. Who needed bug types? This was much better.
June watched Scout nervously. He had not seemed to even notice her. Was the food he was eating really that good? She looked up at Kiki to see what she wanted. <Ok.>

Kiki nodded at Scout. "You're welcome. I'm glad you like them." She smiled when the Joltik appeared. Some girls did not like bug Pokemon, but she thought they were cute. She was sorry this one looked a bit scared. Hopefully the food help. "Here you are, June." She picked up a Pokeblock and set it down carefully in front of the Joltik in order to not scare her. Then she straightened up and took a step back.
<Hi,> Alice said, giving June a friendly smile. She hoped she could make her feel more at ease.

June timidly moved closer to the Pokeblock offered to her. She took a small bite of it with her pincers. She immediately felt better. <This is good,> she said, smiling up at Kiki. <Thank you.> She was glad to have found another nice trainer. Perhaps not living in the wild would not be too bad after all.
<Yes, good,> Scout said, nodding his head. He too looked at Kiki. <Can I have more?> It looked like the Joltik had good taste, and she had fought well in their double battle. He decided to not bother her anymore.
Gary smiled slightly in relief. "It looks like they're getting along," he said. He hoped he would not have any more problems with them from here on out. Now he could focus on training and becoming stronger. "Do you think I could get the recipe you used?" He wondered if the rest of his Pokemon would like it as well. if they did, he could use the treats as rewards.

Kiki smiled at the Joltik. She was glad to see that she was enjoying the food. The bug type was tiny, so one was probably all she needed. Scout would probably not mind sharing so little with her. The girl hoped the two Pokemon would get along now. it was essential that a team worked together and bonded as friends. "That's great." She handed the Farfetch'd one more Pokeblock before glancing at Gary. She nodded. "Sure. I don't have it with me, but I can give it to you some other time. Which team are you in?" She did not believe he was in Johto, but she thought it was best to ask.
<I'm glad you like it,> Alice said, smiling at June. <Do you want to be friends?>

<Thanks,> Scout said as he took the Pokeblock. He ignored the other Pokemon while he ate. After this, he would feel good enough to get back to training. He hoped his trainer would be up for it as well.
June glanced at Alice. Friends? Well, she seemed friendly enough. Plus, she liked grass types. She knew a lot of them back in the forest. <Sure.> She gave her a small smile.
"Thank you," Gary said. He could wait to get the recipe. He thought he remembered her from at least one of his classes, so he could get it from her then. "I'm in Team Kanto. What about you?" He thought she was from some other team, but he did not know which. Perhaps they could rivals. It would be good for him to test his skills against another trainer, especially one from a different team.

It seemed like everything was working out. Kiki hoped Gary could relax now and not have to worry about his Pokemon getting along. Food was great for bringing together both humans and Pokemon. She nodded when he told her his team. "I'm in Johto, though I'm from Hoenn." It had not been required that they choose their home region, so she decided to go with her favorite. She used to vacation a lot in Johto, and she loved it. She had even retained a boyfriend there, whom she now wished to forget. It was hard, though, when he now attended Cherilli as her teammate.
Alice smiled at June. <Great.> The little bug was small, but she was cute. She glanced at Scout. <Is he your friend?>

June frowned at the question. <H-him?> She swallowed. <No. I don't think he wants to be my friend.> But as long as he did not want to eat her, everything would be fine.
Scout finished his Pokeblock and looked up at his trainer. He finally felt satisfied. <We can get back to training now,> he said rather impatiently. He hoped the human would not continue to talk with this girl. They had work to do!
Gary smiled slightly at Kiki's response. Johto? That was cool. He wondered why she did not choose to be in Hoenn, but he thought it would be rude to ask. He saw his Farfetch'd trying to get his attention from out of the corner of his eye. He knew what he wanted. "Nice. Hopefully I'll see you around. Thanks for the Pokeblock, but I think Scout wants to get back to training now." He hoped he did not come off badly by saying it this way. He was not trying to get rid of her or anything.
