Name: Serkan ("leader, chief") Alamilla ("little nourishing, little soul")
Gender: male
Age: 15
Appearance:
faceclaim: mechya mochimazzi, tamako market.
Dark skin, black hair, green eyes. 5’6”, 135 lbs. Piercings strictly in ears. Scars from work accidents, mostly.
Home Region: -- (non-Regional land north of slightly east of Unova; counts as an Unovan citizen, though)
Team Wanted: Unova
Personality:
You probably won't meet too many people who work harder than Serkan. He's been busting his butt since he could walk. Be it bales of hay or cargo crates, physical labor is not stranger to the boy. He's rather proud of it, actually. He starts earlier, does more, and stays out longer than most of his co-workers. His summer job reports are nothing to scoff at. He appreciates when others try hard, having no time for lazy people or those who refuse to do right. He also has little appreciation for art as practicality is his strong suit; of course, leather work is something he can appreciate as he's done some minor repairs and such with the material. He hates taking hand outs as he feels bad when he doesn't earn something.
When it comes to dangerous situations, Serkan never ever panics. He might get angry and hit others, but flying into a blind rage is something only the most extreme of circumstances can bring about. Furthermore, it takes a lot to scare him. If he feels something's dangerous, he simply takes it out. Of course, one must keep in mind that fighting is also recreational for him. He likes to get down and throw a few punches with friends for kicks. Basically, talking isn't what makes him happy with friends: rough housing, pulling pranks, or just goofing off are how he bonds.
Of course, romance is done in a different way than friend making with him. If he likes someone, he'll sing out of tune for them, throw around bad pick-up lines, and generally try to be as close to them as possible. It's rather goofy.
Being multiracial and multicultural, Serkan has a tendency to mismash his languages together. He always asks a person's gender so that he can use the correct pronouns and such, this being especially important when he slips into Spanish. He thinks Turkish is the most beautiful language he knows, but he can't speak it as well as he'd like. He's a big eater and has a wide variety of meals he enjoys. Dolma, flan, and pork ribs are his favorites. Despite being proud of his heritage, he is very non-religious. In fact, he considers the legendaries nothing more than very long lived, powerful pokemon, nothing too special.
History:
Serkan was originally born Burcu, daughter of an African-Hispanic ranch owner and her Turkish ex-Rocket member husband. The family lived across the bay of eastern Unova, still technically Unovan citizens. Burcu was a lively young girl who found it more comfortable to wear clothes like her father's and enjoyed helping her mother with the ponyta, mareep, and miltanks around the ranch.
When Burcu was six, her little sister Kelebek was born. Burcu adored her mother than anything and was determined to protect her with all her might. She got her chance later that year, when a rogue storm killed Mrs. Alamilla. With the ranch in ruins and the head of the household dead, the Alamillas were forced to sell what was left of the land.
Moving into Unova's shining Castelia City. As the duo's father began trying to acquire money left and right, falling back on greedy habits due to his grief for his lost wife, Burcu began acting as more and more of Kelebek's guardian.
One day, when the duo were walking home from school, someone mistook Burcu for a boy. She liked it; she actually felt pretty upset when Kelebek innocently corrected the stranger. Burcu did some research and eventually talked to her father. Over a year-and-a-half period, Burcu became Serkan.
By his twelfth birthday, Serkan felt exceedingly comfortable in his own skin. Maybe that's why he felt so guilty when his father was put in jail for embezzling money. Had some of that gone into fixing his body? Comfort came in the form of their maternal uncle, who took the kids to Driftveil City. Soon, Serkan got a job working for Clay, the local gym leader. They made a deal: if Serkan could become a strong trainer, when the Alamilla boy turned twenty-one, Clay would turn the gym over to him.
Everything was going good again. Kelebek was making lots of friends and their uncle was super nice. Too nice. Too friendly. Now, someone less involved in what happened to cause Serkan to beat his uncle within an inch of his life might say "it could have been worse" or "was that real worth getting upset over?". But the courts were on Serkan's side and that's all the boy really cares about aside from his sister's safety.
However, what he had done was sending a buzz throughout Unova. He took a deal, just to get everything to calm down. He'd leave the region for a few years while Kelebek was taken into protective custody. Clay, still on Serkan's side despite the show of how far the boy's typically hair trigger temper could take him, paid for his heir to go to Cherilli Academy.
And that's where he is now.
