The future of Fort Weyr teeters on a knife-edge, so close to slipping deeper into an abyss of its own making. But there's hope - hope that the uphill climb won't be too steep, that the light at the end of the tunnel will be bright enough to chase away the decades of darkness. That hope comes in the form of twenty-seven weyrlings, Impressed in the wake of tragedy.
The Weyr has been shaken and begun to divide after the shocking events of the hatching: a brown impressed a woman, and a blue impressed a member of the stands. More worrying than those occurrences is the fact that the new queen, the queen that the Weyr's hope rested with, impressed to a drudge named Rava.
Deciphering Destiny is a Pern site with a slightly different idea behind the scenes. Our site puts the spotlight on a single group of dragonriders, Impressing together, growing together, becoming the future of the Weyr together. We're offering the chance to play a character who - from the moment of Search - has the chance to change the future of the Weyr, for good or bad.
This is not an "Impress, Rinse, Repeat" site. We're looking to tell an ongoing, cohesive story about what happens to people at a time of change in their world, following a single group from pre-Impression into... whatever the future brings their way. We encourage storytelling, including the play of NPCs, exploring events from characters' pasts, and branching off into plots and sub-plots, both staff and player-run.
We're looking for mature players interested in something a little different, who want to dedicate the time and energy it takes to really explore the relationships and events that impact this core group of characters.
Our hatching has happened, but that doesn't meant it's too late to join our fun and welcoming community! We still have a wide variety of hatchlings up for grab: three bronzes; two female-blue pairs; three female-green pairs; and one male-green Impression. We have dragon profiles up for adoption, or write your own. There is also a need for characters that are necessary for the continuation of the plot: four bronze wingleaders and five female-green rider pairs!
Deciphering Destiny is a canon site with a few changes: Women Impress to blue and occasionally brown, sexuality does not impact Impression, whers are not a focal point, and firelizards have not yet been rediscovered.
