OOC: This thread is for Nate and Faith's battle. In roleplay time this will occur after Yami and Kiki's battle. Nate will post first. He will also have the first move. Principal Sash walked onto the battlefield after the break. "And we're back!" she said into the microphone. "We have one more battle to go before the final round. Please give it up for Nate from Sinnoh and Faith from Hoenn!" She sat down as everyone applauded. |

Nate strode confidently onto the stage. He was still smirking from the prank he had played on his roommate, Paul. He had signed him up for the contest and made him give an appeals performance. He had performed liked expected, displaying only strength. He hoped that experience would wake him up. He pushed the thoughts to the back of his head as he took his place on the battlefield. It was time for a contest battle. "Let's do this, Estel!" He released his young Chikorita. The two of them had not had any contest experience together, but he knew he would be great. Faith finished up her hair and makeup behind stage before hurrying to take her spot on the battlefield. She was nervous about this battle even though she already had two ribbons. Just one more to go... She wondered if her mo was watching. She wanted to make her proud. She wore a deep blue dress with a red ribbon tied in the back. She calmly took out a Pokeball and released her Pokemon. "Let's do this, Nutella!" She was unsure about choosing the Pachirisu. She still did not listen to her too well, and she did not know if she would like contests. Still, she thought the experience would bring them closer together. She could only hope for the best.

Nate could see this was going to be an interesting battle. It seemed that both Pokemon were lower level. At least they were evenly matched. "Ok, Estel, start off with Tackle!" He did not have much of a choice for attacks, so he might as well start off strong.
Estel smiled at the Pachirisu. She was cute! <Hello,> he said elegantly. <I'm sorry I have to battle you.> He would make it a noble battle, and the best would win. He strode forward, hopping more than running to make his move look beautiful. Faith was ready with a plan. That Chikorita sure was elegant, but that was not going to stop her. "Nutella, stay strong and take it!" She was planning on using Bide to create more power. She just had to make sure the Pachirisu looked good before she could attack. She gasped when her Pokemon blatantly ignored her, causing her to lose points. What was she doing?!
Nutella was surprised at the Chikorita's words. She would be flattered if this was not a battle. She was not going to let him get her off guard! She became irritated at her trainer's words. That was a stupid idea, so she would follow her own plan. She darted out of the way of the Chikorita using Quick Attack and then turned to attack him herself.

Nate's eyes flashed in surprise when Faith's Pokemon refused to obey her. That was unusual. Was she sure she had chosen the right Pokemon for this battle? Oh well. It was not his problem. "Estel, Growl and Tackle!" He hoped he would not miss this time.
Estel blinked at the Pachirisu. Ok then. She was too quick for him to be able to dodge. He was back on his feet in no time, however. Such an attack could not keep him down for long! He growled as he ran forward again. Faith was glad that the Pachirisu's attack had at least worked. Despite that, she still had less points than Nate. There was no time to tell her Pokemon to dodge. Well, it was time to attack. "Use Quick Attack again!" She prayed that she would listen.
Nutella smirked when she hit her target. She started to run around again, but the Chikorita got to her first. She rolled on the ground from the force of the attack. She had been hit. Oh well. Now was a good time to use Bide. She stood up and took a fighting stance but did not make any move toward her opponent.

Nate blinked at the Pachirisu. That was a disobedient squirrel. he bet she was using Bide now. Well, all e could do was attack. "Estel, Tackle once more!" He had to hope he would not lose points as quickly as Faith. He had never won a contest battle!
Estell really did not understand this Pachirisu. She was cute, but she lacked other qualities he found attractive. He supposed that was good for a battle. He could give his all and not regret it. <Not going to fight back?> He ran around her before going back in for a Tackle. Faith took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She could see what her Pachirisu was doing now. If she could predict her behavior, maybe she could get by with losing few points for disobedience. "Ok, attack now!"
Nutella still felt irritated that Faith was yelling commands at her, but this time they had the same plan. She let herself be hit by the Chikorita again, though she showed no signs of pain. Then she took a deep breath and released a great ball of white energy.

Nate had known Bide was coming, but he did not know how he could avoid it. Fortunately, this was a contest battle, and he could make up for lost points. "You're doing fine, Estel. Now use Growl and Tackle!"
Estel was blown back by the force of the attack. He slowly stood up and shook his head. <Wow, you have power, girl.> Now he really had to beat her! He growled ferociously as he bounded forward. He jumped up at the last second to attack the Pachirisu. Faith was pleased that Bide had worked. Maybe they could win this after all! She hoped that her Pachirisu would keep on obeying her. "Now intercept wit Quick Attack!" That might look good.
Nutella smirked at Estel's words. She was glad to impress him, so now she had to beat him. She turned her head at her trainer's words. What kind of plan was that? She made to dodge, but she was hit as she ran away. She glared at the Chikorita before running at him with a Quick Attack.

Nate could see that the Pachirisu was still not fully obeying her trainer. That was not good for her. He did not want to win this way, but there was nothing he could do about it. "Estel, now you intercept with Tackle!" It was not a bad idea.
Estel shook his head, whipping his leaf back and forth. <You'll have t do better than that.> The electric type was fast, but he could see where she would hit him. He leapt forward to attack her head on, hoping to do damage to both of them. Faith thought quickly. There had to be a way to gain and advantage. These two Pokemon were too evenly matched. "Alright, zigzag back and forth to dodge!" She did not know how much time they had left to use Bide, and she grit her teeth in frustration when it seemed that was exactly what the Pachirisu was up to.
Nutella rolled her eyes at the suggestion. There was no way that would work! Her most powerful attack was Bide, so she was just going to use that. She winced when she was struck by another Tackle. Only one more...

Nate shook his head at the Pachirisu's attitude. It looked like she wanted to use Bide again. Hopefully the battle would end before that. "Tackle!" It was all he could do at this point.
Estel snickered at his opponent. <Ok then.> If she wanted to stand still, then he was not going to stop her. He gracefully bounded across the stage in a circle. Then he came back around and sped up as he neared the Pachirisu. Faith held in a sigh. Would her Pachirisu ever listen to her? They wee going to need to do some serious training after this. "Ok, unleash!" She glanced at the scoreboard to see she had 25 points left. This was not looking good...
Nutella braced herself for the Tackle. She was pushed back but managed to stay on her feet. <That's all you've got?? Now it was her turn! She was going to win the battle for sure. She released her built up energy in great power. <Take that!>
