Gary Oak was on a mission. He had recently arrived in Mauville City in the Hoenn region, and he knew exactly where his first stop would be. He easily found the gym and made his way inside. "Hello?" he called out. "Wattson? I'm from Cherilli Academy, and I'm here to challenge you!" He knew the gym leader had stronger Pokemon than he did, but going up against a rough opponent would help him learn more. Winning would be an added bonus. While e waited, he wondered which Pokemon he should start out with. |

Wattson emerged from a hidden room in the back of the gym. "A challenger, eh?" he said, a wide grin on his face. "This your first time in a gym? Don't be too disappointed if you lose."The boy was likely not a match for him, of course. He hoped he would learn a lot from the battle and take his knowledge with him back to the academy. "Voltorb, let's go!" A Pokemon looking like a Pokeball appeared before him. Gary was not planning on being disappointed. He wanted to win. He looked over the Voltorb before deciding on his own Pokemon. "You're up, Shia." He released his new Ekans. He knew she would battle hard to win this one. "Start off with Poison Sting!"
Shia hissed at her opponent. She did not care about the current situation; all she wanted to do was win. She thought Poison Sting was a great idea. It would help her out a lot if that Voltorb became poisoned. She spit out her poisonous darts in his direction. Wattson grinned at Gary. This boy seemed confident. He could tell this was going to be a fun battle. "Rollout!" he called. He let out a belly laugh when his Pokemon was able to dodge the Ekans' attack. "A little Poison Sting isn't going to stop my Voltorb."
The Pokemon that looked like a Pokeball started to spin in the air. He fell forward and too the ground, missing the Poison Sting. He picked up speed as he rolled forward. He would not stop until he hit his target. Gary patiently assessed the situation. He knew Rollout was tricky to stop once started. Luckily, he had a plan. "Shia, use Wrap!" It was best to control the electric type so he could not inflict as much damage. Shia would be in a great position if this succeeded.
Sia was not afraid of the Voltorb. She patiently waited until the Pokemon was close to her, and then she stuck out her trail, planning to wrap it around her opponent and trap him. She knew what she would do if she were in control of the battle, and she wondered what her trainer had in mind. Wattson was surprised by Gary's quick thinking. He smiled. "Not bad. Let's see if you can take this. Voltorb, use Spark!" It would be difficult for the Ekans to get out of the way of the attack now. He was interested to see how this battle would turn out.
Voltorb continued to roll around. He was surprised when he suddenly could not move. His eyes widened upon seeing the Ekans' tail around him. This made him mad! Each squeeze fueled his anger. Finally, he let it all out in a powerful Spark. Gary could see that he was in trouble. He had to think of something quickly to turn this battle around. "Shia, Leer and Bite!" That would do some damage. There was no way he was going to lose this.
Shia snarled before she was struck by the Spark attack. She hated electricity. When the attack finished, she glared fiercely at her opponent. She licked her lips with her long tongue. It was payback time. She darted forward, her jaws wide. Wattson watched the Ekans' quick actions. Perhaps this battle would be closer than he had originally thought. However, he still had some tricks up his sleeve. "Voltorb, Sonic Boom!" That would surely hit.
The Voltorb smirked as his electric attack hit. He loves sing his electric energy. He was surprised when the snake suddenly tried to bite him. The attack hurt, but she couldn't get a good grip on him to hang on. When she was still close, he let out a Sonic Boom. Gary felt confident that he could win this battle. he was thinking clearly, and he already had his next move planned in advance. "Poison Sting and then Glare!" Poisoning his opponent was his goal, but if it failed, he would use another tactic.
Shia hissed as a wave of air pushed her back. That attack had not been fun. She eyed the Voltorb, planning her move. Then she sprang forward to get a better aim and let her Poison Sting fly. She hopped back and glared at the electric type, daring him to strike back at her. Wattson did not understand the boy's strategy, but perhaps he was just getting too old. In any matter, his Voltorb was still able to move, so he decided to strike with another electric attack. "Shock Wave!"
Voltorb was struck by the sharp barbs. Then he was forzen in place by the Ekans' glare. A second later, he shook his body to rid himself of the feeling. He was not scared! He remained floating in the air while he let his electricity loose. Gary was pumped now. Gym battles were so exciting! He thought quickly about his next move. He knew Shock Wave was unavoidable, so his best bet was to strike back just as hard. "Shia, jump and use Wrap!"
Shia hissed as the electricity came towards her. She did not mind the pain. She was stronger than that! She leapt into the air while electricity coursed through her body. When she got close to the Voltorb, she whipped out her tail and attempted to wrap it around the Pokemon. She planned to take her opponent down to the ground with her. Wattson already had a plan to get out of this sticky situation. "Shock Wave, once more!" If it had worked before, it could work again. He wondered how the challenger would respond.
Voltorb narrowed his eyes at the snake Pokemon. He did not like to be squeezed like that, not that there was much to be squeezed. He wanted to use Selfdestruct and teach her a lesson, but he listened to his trainer and used Shock Wave instead. Gary should have expected another Shock Wave. He was up against an electric type, after all. He thought he had a strategy to take this guy out for good. "Shia, Bite!"
Shia clenched her teeth as she felt electricity surge through her. She would take care of this Voltorb so he could not strike her again! She bared her fangs as she leapt forward. She aimed and attempted to clamp down on her opponent. The Voltorb floated up, but he was not quick enough. This last attack sent him crashing to the ground.
Wattson chuckled as he returned his Pokemon to his Pokeball. "Nice job. Now, let's see if you can handle this!" He grabbed another Pokeball and released an Electrike. "Elecrike, use Spark!" It was time for more electricity.
Electrike growled at her opponent. <You're going down, punk!> She dug her nails into the ground. Then she released a great blast of electricity. Wattson Level: 18 Attacks: Rollout, Spark, Selfdestruct, Shock Wave, Charge, Eerie Impulse, Screech, Sonic Boom Abilities: Soundproof, Static, Aftermath Hit By: Bite Used: Health: ---  Level: 19 Attacks: Shock Wave, Leer, Quick Attack, Howl, Tackle, Thunder Wave, Spark Abilities: Static, Lightning Rod Hit By: Used: Spark Health: High Green Ekans has gained four levels. She now knows Screech.

Gary nodded at his Ekans. He knew she could do it. Still, she had sustained a lot of damage. It would soon be time to switch Pokemon. For now, they would give it their all. "Shia, use Poison Sting!"
Shia hissed in satisfaction. Electric types did not phase her. She willed herself to endure the attack of the new Pokemon. She was running out of steam, so she had to make her next move worth it. She spat out poisonous barbs, hoping to strike her target.
