Sawyer had finally been able to attend one of Cherilli's field trips. The first thing she wanted to do was challenge the gym leader here - Roark. And why not? If she wanted to be a Pokemon master, she needed to know what it would take to get there. Win or lose, she knew a gym battle was just what she needed to increase her motivation. She found the gym easily and slipped inside. "Hello! she said confidently. "I'm Sawyer from Cherilli Academy, and I'm here to challenge Roark." |

Roark stepped into the room from the bag, a wide smile on his face when he saw Sawyer. "You're a Cherilli student? Welcome to my gym!" He gestured widely with his arms. He looked forward to teaching a student about what a real gym battle was like. "Let's start now. Onix, come on out!" A large rock snake roared as he stood tall, looming over his opponent. The gym leader wondered who the girl would choose. Sawyer smirked as she watched the gym leader. "Thank you." She was sure this would be a great experience. She knew exactly which Pokemon to use against Roark's rock types. "Prancer, you're up!" She released the Skiddo, and he immediately skipped around in a circle. "Use Vine Whip!"
Prancer stopped skipping and turned to face his opponent. He did not want to stop running, but he supposed he had to listen to his trainer. That floating rock did not look so tough! He shout his his vines and attempted to slap the Geodude with them. Roark knew that Skiddo was going to be trouble. His normal attacks would not do much damage against his rock types, but his grass moves could be very dangerous. He did not want to take a risk right now. "Defense Curl and then Tackle!"
The Geodude narrowed his eyes at the Skiddo. <You better watch out,> he huffed. Did the grass type think battles were fun? He would show him! He curled into a ball as the vines hit his body. He did not show any pain as he uncurled and then hurled himself at his opponent. Sawyer was pleased with the battle so far. She debated for a second asking her Pokemon to dodge the Tackle. Then she decided against it. "Prancer, Razor Leaf!" She smirked. This would be a good hit.
Prancer skipped in joy when his attack worked. <Wee! This is fun!> He wondered if he would get to run next. He turned to face the Geodude and saw him coming straight at him. he braced himself for the impact. As soon as he felt the pressure leave, he shot out a series of razor sharp leaves. Level: 13 Attacks: Tackle, Growth, Vine Whip, Tail Whip, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf Abilities: Sap Sipper, Grass Pelt Hit By: Tackle Used: Razor Leaf Health: Green |

Roark was expecting another grass attack. This time, he had a plan to counteract it. "Geodude, use Rollout!" This way, his Pokemon could dodge most of the sharp leaves. He wondered how Sawyer would react to this.
Geodude rolled himself into a ball. He then darters forward in the air. He moved out of the way of most of the leaves, but some of them struck him, though they did not slow him down. He got to the ground and rolled forward to attack the Skiddo. Sawyer felt good about this battle. After today, she knew she would be on her way to acheiving her dreams. Adter she graduated school, she knew what she wanted to do. "Prancer, use Vine Whip and then throw him!"
Prancer stood strong as the Geodude rolled towards him. He wanted to run, but he would listen to his trainer. When his opponent got close, he whipped out his vines. He was struck by the rock type's attack, but he tried to wrap his vines around him, planning to throw him across the field if he got a good grip. Roark watched as his Pokemon was troan across the room. "Not bad. Let's see what else you've got. Geodude, Rollout once more!" He might as well keep it up until the rock type missed.
Geodude continued to roll around the room. He was surprised when something grabbed onto him, causing him to stop. He grunted as he was thrown across the gym. That little Pokemon would get it now! He rolled into a ball once again and zoomed forward. Sawyer was surprised that her attack had not stopped the Geodude. He was certainly tough! She had to come up with a new plan. "Prancer, Razor Leaf and then use Growth!" That should work well.
Prancer watched the movements of the rock type. He yelped when he came towards him once more. He hated being rolled over! He wished there was something he could do to stop that guy. As soon as the pressure left him, he shot out his sharp leaves. Then he took a deep breath and grew. Roark smirked as his opponent tried to use a powerful move. It was too bad that would not work. "Use Rollout once more!" His move was only going to get stronger. This would be a tough battle for either side to win.
Geodude used his Rollout to dodge most of the leaves once again. This time, Growth increased the damage done to him. He disliked grass types, and he wanted to show this one who was boss. He moved toward him again for a more powerful ROllout. Sawyer narrowed her eyes when she saw her plan did not work. Now she had to think of something else. At least Rollout was not too strong yet. There was still a chance to stop it. "Use Leech Seed and then Vine Whip from the side!" That might do it.
Prancer looked on in disappointment as the Geodude continued to roll. How was he suppose to stop that guy? He braced himself as he came at him again. Just before he hit, he sent out a seed that would cover hm with vines. The Skiddo groaned as he stood up after the attack. He shook himself off and then shot out his vines, trying to hit the rolling Geodude from the side. Roark wondered how long he could keep up the Rollout. He soon found his answer. The grass type finally got the best of the rock type. The trainer smiled. It was time to mix things up. "Ok, now Tackle!"
Geodude continued to roll. He wavered when he was struck by vines again. Then he stumbled and fell to the floor. Groaning, he felt strength leave him as a seed was planted on him. This was not good! Angry, he dashed towards the Skiddo. Sawyer was really getting into it now. She knew she was going to win soon. She decided to put her best moves forward. "Dodge and use Razor Leaf!" She knew her quick Skiddo could get the job done.
Prancer skipped around gleefully. <Yay!> He loved dodging like this. He could run all day. He made sure he had avoided the Geodude's Tackle before slowing down. Then, still on the move, he whipped out his sharp leaves to bring the rock type down. Geodude moved to the side, but he was unable to dodge most of the leaves. This grass move left him with no energy left. With a crash, he fell to the floor.
"Not bad," Roark said. "Let's see how you deal with my second Pokemon." He returned Geodude to his Pokeball and then released his Onix. "Ok, Onix, use Rage!" If he kept up this attack, eventually the Skiddo would fall.
Onix let out a load roar. He was ready for battle! The grass type appeared puny beneath him. The ground rumbled as he dragged his body forward. When he was close enough, he swept out his tail and attempted to wrap it around the Skiddo's body. Sawyer smirked in satisfaction when the Geodude fainted. "Great job, Prancer." She hoped to continue to use her Skiddo to inflict a lot of damage on the Onix. They could win this! "Use Vine Whip to grab hold of him!"
Prancer smiled and ran around happily. He had done a good job! He grew still when he realized he needed to conserve his energy. He still had more Pokemon to defeat! His eyes widened when the large Onix came at him. Thankfully, the move did not hurt too much. He then whipped out his vines and struck the Onix before attempting to wrap them around him.
