The battle was nearing its end, and Gary grew more excited. Just a few more moves... "Astonish!" That's all there was to it.

Kiki hoped that her Pokemon could hold on just a little bit longer than Gary's. "Charm and then Pound!" Perhaps that would do it.
Angel puffed up her cheeks in determination. This was her first battle, and she would like to win it! After recovering from the oncoming move, she made herself really cute. Gary watched the two Pokemon carefully. He was not so sure who would come out on top. All he could do was continue on. "Again!"
Todd blinked when Angel looked charming. He was falling for this less and less, but it still seemed to affect him physically. He grunted after he was struck. He was almost out of energy. "Good job," Kiki said. They were done to the wire now. She kept her hand near her belt, ready to recall her Pokemon when needed. "Now Pound!" She knew this training would be worth it in the end.
Angel breathed heavily. This was certainly a workout. She could only hope she would come out victorious. She took a deep breath to recover from the Astonish. Gary held his breath as his Pokemon received the attack. It was almost over now. Thankfully, his Crogunk seemed pretty tough. It was time to see if he could last one more round. "Astonish!"
Todd was growing tired, but he heard the encouragement in his trainer's voice. He held on after being struck by the Pound attack. He took his time preparing for his next move. The baby Cleffa could not take one more attack. She let out a cry and fell on her back.
Kiki ran forward and scooped her up. "Good job for your first battle," she said soothingly before returning her to her Pokeball. She took a deep breath. Now for her second Pokemon. "Go, Spud!" She released a young Bulbasaur. "Start off with Tackle!"
Spud looked determined as he faced the Crogunk. He was not used to battle either, but he was always up for adventure.

Todd smiled slightly when he saw that he had won the round. Unfortunately, he did not have the strength to deal with the Bulbasaur. he was struck by the Tackle and promptly fainted.
"Good work, Todd," Gary said. He was proud of his Crogunk for lasting so long. Now he needed a long rest. He returned him to his Pokeball and then chose his next Pokemon. "Come on out, Stephan!" A Cyndaquil appeared with a flash of light. "Start off with Ember!"
Stephan flared up his back upon arriving on the scene. He was battling a Bulbasaur? That did not seem too hard. He was strong against grass types. He took a powerful stance and then aimed and fired his balls of burning gas. Kiki smiled at her Bulbasaur. "Good job." Now she and Gary were on the same page. She was soon dismayed when he chose a fire type Pokemon. This was going to be difficult. "Use Leech Seed!" She would need every advantage she could get.
Spud looked back at his trainer and nodded. This was not so bad. He eyed the Cyndaquil, not quite knowing what to make of him. He was too slow to avoid the fire balls, and he grunted in pain. He moved closer to him so he could shoot out his special seed, hoping to get some energy back. Gary nodded in satisfaction when his attack worked beautifully. He knew he had a great advantage in this round, and he was not about to let it go. "Stephan, use Overheat!"
The Cyndaquil smiled happily. He was not huge on battles, but it did feel goo dot be on top. He shook his body to try to get rid of the seed that fell on him, but it would not move. He decided to focus on his own attack, so he grew the flame on his back before sending his fire forth onto his opponent. Kiki gasped at the sudden release of power. Where did that little Cyndaquil learn such a powerful move? The damage was absolutely devastating! She tried not to become dismayed at the outcome as she thought of a comeback. "Hang in there, Spud. Use Growl and Tackle!"
Spud watched the fire travel through the air. Then it was suddenly on him, causing immense pain. He grit his teeth as he endured the attack. When it was over, he barely had enough energy to keep standing. Still, he had to fight on. He growled at his opponent while he ran right at him. He would pay for this! Gary tried to suppress a smirk. His Cyndaquil was on fire - literally! "Stephan, follow that up with an Ember attack!" This would all be over soon.

Kiki knew she was fighting a losing battle. Still, this was no time to give up. "Use Tackle once more!" If her Bulbasaur could make a dent in their opponent's strength, it would help out a lot.
Spud could feel his defenses weakening even as he got his own hits in. He no longer had the strength to dodge the Cyndaquil's fire balls. He used the last of his energy for one final Tackle. Gary pumped his fist in the air. "Great job! Now Overheat!" They had that Bulbasaur now.
Stephan was thrown off his feet by the Bulbasaur, but he had plenty of energy to get back on his feet. He steadied himself and then prepared his Overheat attack. Blue flames shot up from his back and darted to the other side of the field.
