Faith strolled through the city, looking around at everything. She was excited to be on the last field trip of the semester. She loved exploring new places! She could not wait to graduate and go on a real journey. Right now, she wanted to freshen up her battling skills. She wondered if there were any trainers around who would like to battle her. She thought a one on one battle would be fine for now. |

Calem strolled around town with his hands in his pockets. He had no plans for the day and wanted to see what would come his way. He noticed a girl looking around and smile. She seemed new around here, and that meant she was probably a Pokemon trainer. "Hi!" he said, giving her a friendly wave. "Would you like to have a battle?" |

Faith smiled when she saw the boy standing before her. This was exactly what she had wanted. "Sure. Is one on one good?" There was only one Pokemon she really wanted to train right now. Calem smiled at the trainer. "Great. I'm Calem, by the way." His new opponent had chosen a fire type, so he decided to go with a fire type. He pulled out a Pokeball and released his Froakie. The girl smiled at Calem. "I'm Faith. It's nice to meet you." So, he was choosing a water type. She welcomed the challenge. "Alright, Amber, use Scratch!" It was best to start off with a move she knew would be effective.
Amber smiled nervously at the Froakie. <Hello there.> She had known some Froakie in the forest, and most of them were quite playful. This one, however, seemed serious. Well, she would just have to try her best! She ran right at him. When she got close enough, she planned to extend her paw and strike. Calem had not expected the Fennekin to be so fast. "Dodge it!" he called. Unfortunately, his Froakie was struck by the attack. "Use Bubble!" He hoped that would make up for the previous failure.
Froakie was pumped to be in a battle. He was sure he could beat a little fire type. He made to move out of the way, but Amber was too quick. He winced as he was scratched on the side. Faith knew this battle would be a struggle, but she was up for the challenge. The Froakie was too quick for her to call out a dodge. It was time to come up with a plan. "Amber, use Tail Whip and Ember!" She wanted to see what kind of damage this could do.
Amber jumped back as soon as she finished her attack. She had known many water types when she lived in the forest, and they were always dangerous. She froze in fear as the bubbles came out her. She had to shake herself back into action. She had a job to do! She whipped her tail back and forth and then opened her mouth to spit out fire balls. Calem was not too concerned about the fire type move. He held the advantage, so he would use that strategy for as long as possible. Why fix what was not broken? "Bubble again!"
Froakie flinched as the fire balls hit him. It was not too painful, but he was still annoying. He was glad for the chance to use his water move again. Faith knew she would have to use strategy if she wanted to beat the water Pokemon. "Dodge that and use Scratch!" She hoped this battle would raise the confidence of both her and her Fennekin in their battle skills.
Amber did not like the Froakie at all. At the same time, standing frozen in fear would not do her any good. She manged to jump out of the way right before the Water Gun would ave struck her. Calem admired the Fennekin for her toughness and cuteness. She seemed like a reliable Pokemon. He wanted to work to have a strong bond with his Froakie like that. "Quick Attack!"
Froakie cringed after receiving the blow from the fire type. This battle might be tougher than he thought. He took a moment to gather his energy. "Good job," Faith said with a smile. She was glad her Fennekin was doing so well. She was sure the trust between them was growing. "Now stay there and use Scratch again!"
Amber kept her eyes on her opponent. Battling was not as bad as she had thought, but she needed to be on her guard at all times. Thankfully, she did not have the chance to argue with her trainer's orders, for the Froakie came at her too quickly. She held up her claws right before he struck in order to get an attack in as well. Calem knew he was currently winning the battle, but he still feared that it could take an ugly turn. "Now Bubble!" Maybe he should stick with the water attacks for now.
Froakie kept moving after finishing his attack. He hoped to be able to dodge the Fennekin's Scratch, but this was not possible. After wincing, he spun around to locate the fox. Faith silently willed her Fennekin to not lose hope. This battle was not over yet. "Now Scratch!" She was glad that she was trusting her so far. They could do this together!
Amber was blown back by the water move. She slowly got to her feet and shook out her fur. She really hated water. If she wanted this to end, she knew she had to fight hard. Calem nodded in approval. So far so good. "Now Quick Attack!" He thought he would mix it up a bit so his opponent wouldn't learn how to dodge his water attacks.
Froakie croaked in satisfaction. He really enjoyed using the power of water. He dashed to the side when the Fennekin struck back, but he tripped and fell on his faith. Faith new this battle would be close, but she also believed in her Fennekin. "Use Scratch followed by Tail Whip!" She hoped she would not get hit by another water move.
Amber followed the Froakie with her eyes. He was too quick for her, and she winced when she was struck in the side. She immediately reached out her claws to strike the water type in return. Then she retreated and swished her tail back and forth.
