OOC: This thread is for Nate and Kiki's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Nate should post first. He also has the first move. IC: Despite setbacks from the previous round, Principal Sash was full of energy as she stood before the crowd. "Welcome back, everyone! I am sure we will get to see some great battles today. First, we have Nate from Sinnoh and Kiki from Johto!" Of course everyone would show up this time. She headed to her seat to watch and wait. |

Nate strode onto the battlefield feeling pretty confident. He had done well in the previous year, and now he was being rewarded for it. He only had to win two battles and he would be the champion of the school! He was excited to have the opportunity to win for his team. He would battle his friend, Kiki, so he chose his Pokemon carefully. "Chelsea," he said, releasing his Shinx. Kiki exited through the doors of the academy onto the battlefield. She smiled and nodded at Nate, who stood opposite of her. It was fun to battle against a friend. Even if she lost, she could be happy for him. Of course, she would still try her hardest to succeed. She reached for a Pokeball. "Come on out Penelope!" It may have seemed odd to some to choose a water type Pokemon against an electric type, but the Seel loved the challenge of being at a type disadvantage. Nate smiled at Kiki when she arrived. He hoped they could have fun while still battling hard. He was surprised she chose a water type Pokemon, though he did admire her courage. He thought he might as well start off by taking advantage of the situation. "Alright, Chelsea, use Spark!"
Chelsea smirked at the Seel. <Don't think you can beat me.> She respected any Pokemon at a disadvantage who willingly faced off against her, for it was something she loved as well. But this was a tournament, and she needed to do everything she could do win. She dug her claws into the ground as she prepared to release a stream of electricity. Kiki knew she would have to rely on Penelope's strengths in order to win this battle. She only wished she was better at defense. It was unfortunate that the Seel was so slow on land. "Use Ice Shard and Growl!" It would help if she could freeze the Shinx.
<Of course I can beat you,> Penelope said haughtily. She did not like the Shinx's attitude. She had to beat her now! With a determined look on her face, she accepted the Spark head on. Now it was her turn. She aimed ans shot out sharp shards of ice. Then she growled threateningly. Nate did not have much experience with ice type attacks. He knew it would be bad if his Pokemon froze, and he could not remember if he had anything on hand to treat it. They would have to be careful. "Chelsea, use Tackle and then Charge!"
Chelsea smirked when her electric attack hit its mark. <Take that!> She was just the coolest, right? Well, now she was. The pieces of ice struck her body, injuring her and caused her to shiver. <I'll get you for that!> She raced forward to Tackle the Seel. Whether she succeeded or not, she would then charge up her electrical powers. Kiki was glad that the Shinx was using a physical attack. Now she could employ her strategy. "Alright, now Headbutt!" She knew her Seel would not mind taking on an attack if it worked to her advantage.
Penelope smirked at the Shinx. She had no idea what was coming for her. The electric type may be ahead now, but the Seel was planning to take the lead soon. She braced herself for the impact by lowering her head. At the last second, she moved forward to use Headbutt. Nate had to admit, that Seel was tough. "Not bad." He knew he could not count on a victory against Kiki. "Don't let your guard down, Chelsea. Now Spark!" After Charge, that should do a lot of damage.
Chelsea expected the Seel to at least try to dodge. Her eyes widened in shock when she suddenly collided with her opponent's head. <Ow...> She took a step back and muttered to herself. It was time for retaliation. She stood her ground and released her electricity. Kiki knew another Spark would be coming. She had to find a way to counter it. She suddenly had an idea, but implementing it required the right conditions. She would have have to stall for now. "Penelope, use Icy Wind!"
Penelope smirked when her head hit its target. <Take that!> Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do against the Spark coming her way. Still, she refused to show her discomfort. She glared at the Shinx before releasing her Icy Wind. Nate shielded his eyes with his arm as the cold win struck his skin. He shivered. He hoped Chelsea could deal with this better than him. "Go and use Bite!" He did not want to overuse Spark in case the Seel found a way around it.
Chelsea smirked at her opponent. <That's electricity for you!> She knew this battle was far from over, though. She braced herself from the Icy Wind. Her fur kept her warm, but frost stuck to her. She leapt forward, her jaws wide for a Bite. Kiki hid a smirk. This was exactly what she wanted. "Penelope, use Enocre!" Now she had a break form those electric attacks. "And now Ice Shard!" It was her chance to take control of the battle.
Penelope grinned at the Shinx running at her. <Sorry...> She used Encore to force the electric type to use Bite for several more turns. She was unable to dodge this time, but she planned to practice. She faced her opponent and shot out her shards of ice. Nate thought Kiki used a good tactic. However, it was a little too late. Bite was still an effective move. This battle would not last much longer. "Ok, use Bite again!"
Chelsea enjoyed using her Bite attack even if it was not an electric move. However, she did not appreciate being forced to continually used it. She narrowed her eyes at the Seel. <That won't help you win.> She endured the ice before performing the only move she could: Bite. Kiki noticed that Penelope's ice attacks had caused water droplets to form on the floor. She wanted to see if she could use this to her advantage. "Quick, dodge!" She smiled when the task was carried out successively. "Now Headbutt!"
Penelope smirked. <We'll see.> She hopped to the side and then used the water under her to slide out of the way of the Shinx's Bite. Knowing she had a short time to act, she slid forward with her head lowered. Nate did not expect the Seel to dodge an attack. Maybe this battle was not over after all. "Ok, Bite and then get ready to run!" he wanted the Shinx to be able to dodge next time.
Chelsea's eyes widened when she missed the Seel. She skidded to a halt before she crashed. She turned around to glare at her opponent but was instantly struck by her head. <Hey!> There was rage in her actions as she leapt at the Seel to attempt to bite her again. Kiki started to call for her Pokemon to dodge, but it was already too late. It looked like this battle would come down tot he wire. "Now Ice Shard!" It was the best attack she had.
Penelope moved whent he Shinx moved, but she was too fast for her. She growled as she felt teeth on her skin. <Get off!> She turned and shot out sharp pieces of ice from her mouth.
