OOC: This thread is for Faith and Gary's battle, and it occurs second in roleplay time. Faith should post first. She also has the first move. IC: Sash returned to the battlefield, a smile on her face. "I hope you all enjoy your break. Next up, we have Faith from Hoenn and Gary from Kanto!" She was glad the battles were finally rolling. As she sat down, she pat Maya's head and then turned her attention to the field. |

There was a smile on Faith's face as she entered the Battle Area. She did not like to admit she loved battling, but she could not help but let it show. She had won the tournament in the past, and she was determined to do it again. "Felicity, you're up!" A Totodile appeared before her, ready to fight. Gary entered the Battle Are right after Kiki. He had battled her in the tournament in the past with mixed results. This time, he planned to win. "Good afternoon," he said to her. "Ready to go?" He examined her Pokemon, a Totodile. He decided to use a Johto starter as well. "Stephan, let's go!" The Cyndaquil might have a type disadvantage, but he was well trained. Faith smiled at Gary. "Hi. I'm always ready!" She watched as he chose to use his Cyndaquil. It seemed just like him to choose a type disadvantage. This was going to be fun. "Felicity, let's use Water Gun!"
Felicity waved at the Cyndaquil. <Hi!> She wondered how well he fought. Well, she was about to find out. She stood her ground and took a deep breath. Then she spit out a stream of water. Gary expected Kiki to start off with a water attack. He was not too worried yet. This battle was just getting started. "Stephan, use Overheat!" He was excited to see his Cyndaquil use his newly acquired move for the first time in a real battle.
Stephan lifted his head bravely as he faced his attack. <Hello.> He did not really like water types, but he knew he had to battle hard for his trainer. The stream of water sent him on his back, causing fire to surge. He hopped to his feet and faced the Totodile. From his back he released a powerful red-orange flame. Level: 8 Attacks: Tackle, Leer TM: Overheat Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire Hit By: Water Gun Used: Overheat Health: Low Green |

Faith's eyes widened in surprise at Nate's retaliation. She had no idea that little Cyndaquil knew such a powerful move. It was a fire type move, but it still did a good amount of damage. She had to take control of this battle! "Felicity, use Leer and then Water Gun!"
Felicity smiled when her attack worked. She did not want to hurt the fire type, but she knew she had to win the battle. She did not expect the oncoming fire to hurt her. She was supposed to be strong against such attacks! She shook her head to clear it. Time to get serious. She leered at her opponent and then attempted to spray him with water gain. Gary was amused by Kiki's reaction. He had clearly caught her by surprise, and he would use that to his advantage. "That's not all I've got. Stephan, Smokescreen and Tackle!" He trusted his Pokemon to know to dodge the Water Gun.
Stephan smiled happily. He was still alive! Maybe he did stand a chance against a water type. He opened his mouth and filled the field with thick, black smoke before the Totodile could get her attack in. Then he darted forward and to the side, dodging the Water Gun. He planned to keep going until he slammed into his opponent. Faith coughed as the smoke filled the area. This was not good. She could not see anything, and neither could her Pokemon! "You'll have to rely on your other senses, Felicity. Find him and use Scratch!"
Felicity could not believe she had missed! That Cyndaquil was tricky. Her eyes stung and she could not see after the Smokescreen attack. She started to panic, preventing her from dodging the Tackle attack. After getting up, she ran in the direction she was attacked with her claws extended. A smile twitched on Nate's face. His plan was working perfectly. The smoke would not last forever, but he would make the most of the present situation. "Now Overheat!" There was no way he would easily give into a water type.
Stephan let out a breath of relief. He was hidden well in the smoke. He had an excellent nose, so he knew exactly where the Totodile was. he darted to the side to avoid her Scratch attack. Then he focused and turned in her direction. He took a deep breath before releasing his great fire power. Faith's heart beat quickly as she heard the cries of her Pokemon. The smoke was still, and she had to do something! One idea came to mind. "Felicity, use Water Gun all over the field!" She hoped it worked.
Felicity growled when she swiped air. That Cyndaquil was too tricky! The next thing she knew, she was blasted by fire again. She whipped around and glared at the smoke. She took a deep breath to calm herself. Then she released her Water Gun, rotating as she did so she would not miss her target. Gary was impressed that Faith found a way to get in attack in. The smoke was fading now, and he would have to rely on other tactics. At least he temporarily had the upper hand. "Good work, Stephan. Now Tackle!"
Stephan ran in a circle to avoid the Water Gun attack, but it was no use. He was blown to the side, eventually skidding to a halt. When he stood up, he could clearly see the Totodile. Faith let out a breath of relief as the smoke faded. Now she could get down to some serious battling. Felicity had hit her target, but she still appeared more worn out than the Cyndaquil. She would have to remedy that. "Scratch!"
Felicity stopped moving when she heard the Cyndaquil. She got him! Unfortunately, her eyes still stung from the fading smoke, so she did not see her opponent coming. She winced as she was struck by his Tackle. Almost immediately, however, she extended her claws and swiped at him. Gary was glad that another water attack was not used. It was only a matter of time before Stephan was struck again, though. He decided to use his fire attack one more time before it lost its effectiveness. "Overheat, once more!"
Stephan turned around to face the Totodile and immediately came into contact with her claws. He winced and took several steps back back. He took a deep breath and then called on his fire power. Faith knew that Overheat lot its power the more it was use successfully. This was her chance to combat it with a powerful move. "Felicity, use Water Gun now!" She hoped the combined moves would look nice.
Felicity felt stronger and more in control now that the smokescreen was no longer in effect. She faced the Cyndaquil and stood her ground. As the fire came at her, she combated it with her Water Gun. The two attacks struck, competing for dominance. Some fire fell on her skin, but she kept it up. Gary watched as the two moves collided. It was no surprise when the water won out. It was time for a different tactic. "Alright, use Leer and then Tackle!" Neither Pokemon would be able to last much longer.
Stephan kept up his fire power. Eventually, however, he was overwhelmed by the water. He cried out as he was drenched. He shook the water off and shivered. He just had to hang in a little longer... He leered at his opponent. Then he ran right at her, a determined look on his face.
