It was not time to enter the forest. Soft, wet snow fell as Sawyer marched along the path alone. The air was relatively warm, so the snow did not stick very well on the ground. The trainer doubted she would find any fire types in this sort of weather, but she could always try. What she really wanted to do was train each of her three current Pokemon. If she happened to come across a Pokemon she found interesting (likely a grass or electric type) she would think about capturing it. For now, she was content to make her own stronger. She had a long journey ahead of her. She looked back and forth as she walked down the path. She wondered what lay among the trees.

High in a tree, a Spearow rested on a nice branch. The wind swayed the tree some, but he was nice and safe on the branch he sat on. It was was on the thicker, lower ones that overlooked the heads of trainers and Pokemon that passed by once in a while, though only a couple passed per day. The forest was very peaceful, but this Spearow did not like it one bit. It made him suspicious that someone was going to cause trouble any moment. He dutifully glanced about, keeping his eyes peeled for something to go amok. If anyone did anything wrong, they would have him to deal with, they could be sure of that. Not seeing many Pokemon on the ground, Sawyer looked up to see if she could spot any flying types. Soon, her vision zeroed in on a Spearow. She remembered that this had been one of the options Turner had given her. She thought about catching it for a minute but then decided against it. She did not need a flying type right now. Maybe later. This Spearow did not look too happy. Perhaps it would be up for a battle. It looked like it could be easily provoked at least. She stood under the tree and looked up at the Pokemon. "Hey, Spearow, do you want to battle?" She took out Kopa's Pokeball and let him loose.
The Litleo appeared in a flash of light. He blinked the sleep out of his eyes before following his trainer's gaze to the Spearow. Were they going to battle? He growled at the other Pokemon. <Afraid?> He was ready to fight!

The Spearow narrowed his eyes at the trainer and then the Litleo below him. Who were they? They looked like they were up to trouble. Battle? After hearing that and then the Litleo's challenge, he sprang forward without thinking, only reacting. He tucked his wings in to allow himself to fall faster towards the little lion Pokemon. He crashed into him and began jabbing him with his beak repeated in a fierce fury. It was time to show everyone in the forest the power and threat of his new weapon! Sawyer nodded in approval when the Spearow seemed to accept the challenge. She watched him fly down and attack her Litleo. The flying type was close enough to attempt to get a direct hit. It was time to start of strong. "Kopa, hang in there and use Fire Spin!" That move was great because it took damage for several turns without having to make more hits.
Kopa grunted when the Spearow landed on him and started attacking him with his beak. That hurt! <Stupid bird,> he muttered. He was strong, though. He could win this. He moved his head so that he had a direct view of the Spearow, and then he unleashed a wave of swirling fire at him. Take that!

The Spearow glared at Kopa when he spoke. How dare he! Once he was done attacking, he pushed off the Litleo and hovered near him. He was going to fly a bit higher, but he didn't get the chance. <Hey!> he cried as fire flew at him. It hurt, and it wasn't going away! He could tell stop, drop, and roll, would not help here, so he decided to just push on forward. He flew higher into the air only to come flying back down at Kopa, aiming his beak at him. Sawyer nodded in approval when the Fire Spin worked. This was very good. When she saw the Spearow fly up, she knew he would have to come back down to attack. They would be ready for him. "Alright, use Ember!" If they were lucky, it would cause a burn, but otherwise they would have to keep on attacking and they would eventually win.
<Ha!> Kopa exclaimed when his attack hit. Battling felt really good. he prepared himself when his opponent flew away from him. He waited on the ground until he was sure he knew where the bird would hit, and then he leapt back to avoid the attack, shooting out his Ember in the process.

The Spearow made a frustrating noise when the Litleo dodged his attack. Caught off guard, he was sprayed in the face with fire. He cried out in pain, but he was not burned. Again, he was attacked by the Fire Spin that refused to leave him. He sent a sharp, intimidating Leer at Kopa before flying quickly at him to use Fury Attack. Sawyer was not pleased when Kopa was hit by another Fury Attack. Well, they could use Leer too. "Come on, Kopa, use Leer and Ember!" She did not not to try Tackle because it was easier for the flying type to dodge. In this instance, it was best to stick to what was tried and true.
The Leer made Kopa freeze for a second. He did not like it. He tried to get out of the way of the Fury Attack, but he was struck hard. He growled in frustration as he got back onto his feet. He gladly used Leer against the Spearow. <You're going down.> He aimed carefully and then used Ember again. He hoped the power of his fire would earn him another victory.

The Spearow cried out in triumph when the Litleo was affected by his attack. He would be defeated for his disruption and troublesome ways! He flinched, however, when he was faced with a Leer himself. It caused him to be slow in reacting to more fire being blown in his face, so he cried out in pain. There was fire coming from all over. When the fire left, he felt terribly weakened. He would not allow the silly Litleo to see his pain or weakness, though! He could never see it. He would keep on fighting. Giving him a fierce Growl, he flew high in the air and then came back down to use Peck. Sawyer could see that her Pokemon was running out of energy. Tackle dealt more damage then Ember, and she wondered if there was a way they could use it effectively. Maybe if they hit the Spearow when he was coming down for an attack... "Kopa, use Tackle when the Spearow is close enough!" She hoped this would be enough. The little lion would not be able to take much more damage.
The growl caused Kopa to momentarily freeze. Then his trainer's words entered his ears. That strategy would require that he get hit, but it might just work. <It's not over yet,> he growled at the flying type. When the Spearow was about to hit him, he leapt into the air to intercept the attack. He was struck by the Peck, but hopefully his Tackle had hit as well.

The Spearow glared at Kopa as he aimed for him, seeing that was trying to attack him too. This was not good, and it angered him. He struck the Litleo with his beak, but he was also struck by his tackle. The force caused him to be thrown backwards. On the ground, he opened his eyes but did not get up. He would still fight! He attempted to use his wings to push himself up, but it was of no use. the Fire Spin that attacked him once again, sealed his fate. He completely collapsed and moved no more as he entered unconsciousness. <Yes!> Kopa exclaimed when the Spearow fainted. He strutted over to the bird and grinned down at him. <Ha! I knew I could take you!> Puffing out his chest, he waltzed back to his trainer. He hoped she was proud of him. That had been a really good battle. He could not wait to train some more later. He wanted to become a really strong lion, like the king of the pride!
Sawyer smiled at her Litleo's reaction. He had done a really good job, and he had a right to be proud. "Excellent work, Kopa. I think you can take a rest now." She took out his Pokeball and promptly returned him. Then she glanced at the Spearow with a small frown. She did not want him to lay out on the path like that for some Pokemon or human to take advantage of. She carefully lifted the flying type into her arms and walked over to the grass. She gently laid the Spearow down in the bushes where he would be hidden. He was a strong Pokemon, but he was not what she was looking for right now. Besides, she already had one angry and resentful Pokemon to deal with. When she was satisfied with her work, she stood up and resumed her walk along the path.

A young Skiddo wandered around the forest, enjoying the lush green that surrounded him. It was so quiet, and he liked that. He liked the snow that fell, but he wished it was rain. He absolutely loved rain. Every time it rained, he would run around in the open, playing in it. He would splash in every puddle he could find. It was always a delight to see the sun come back out, though. It would warm him up, drying all of the water that had previously clung to him. Those were the days he treasured.
Today, it was snowing, so there would be none of that. Instead, he would just have to settle with playing with his friends. His friends were great and loads of fun to play with. However, he was having a bit of trouble finding them. Were they hiding from the snow? They usually did that when it rained and thought him crazy for running freely into it. But snow was just fine for them. Frowning slightly, he trotted along, looking this way and that in search of them. Then he rammed right into something. Backing up and shaking his head, he looked up and saw that he had smashed into the side of a trainer. Species: Skiddo Gender: male Level: 7

All of a sudden, something hit Sawyer in the side. She stumbled and almost fell over, but she somehow managed to find her balance. She looked down at the ground in surprise. It was a Pokemon! Hmm... She had never seen that one before. She took out her Pokedex to check it out. "Skiddo, the mount Pokemon," the mechanical voice said. "Thought to be one of the first Pokémon to live in harmony with humans, it has a placid disposition. If it has sunshine and water, it doesn't need to eat because it can generate energy from the leaves on its back."
"Cool," she said as she put her Pokedex away. He looked like a grass Pokemon. Perhaps she should battle him and see if he would be a fit match for her team. As a poison type, her Skunky would be a good Pokemon to use against him. Right now she needed to make sure he was fine after running into her. He was supposed to be friendly, so she did not fear he would run away. She smiled down at the little guy. "Hello there. Are you alright?"
