Sawyer looked up when she saw a strange noise. She noticed a strange Pokemon headed right towards her. Her eyes were wide as she tried to figure out what to do. The next second, she was on the ground. "Ow," she muttered. "You need to look where you're going." She sat up and frowned as she examined the Duduo. "With two heads, it should be easy." She wondered why he had been running. Had a bigger Pokemon been chasing him?
Isis did not take lightly to being knocked down by another Pokemon. She assumed the Duduo had meant to show aggression. She got up and growled at him. <How dare you run into me like that!> she snarled. <I challenge you to a battle!> She whipped the end of her tail back and forth to show she was serious.

The Doduo shook both of his heads, feeling dizzy. <I'm sorry...> he mumbled. He really was. When he looked up and saw the Ekans, he quickly jumped to his feet. She wanted to fight? That scared him. That was a really scary-looking snake! <Uh...> He glanced at the trainer, hopeful she was not so angry as her Pokemon. He had to look back at the Ekans, though, because he knew it was never a good idea to look away from your opponent. Or someone who looked ready to attack. He let out a growl, merely in defense. He didn't want to be attacked!  Doduo Level: 12 Attacks: Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, Rage Abilities: Run Away, Early Bird, Tangled Feet Hit By: Used: Growl Health: High Green |

Hmm... The Duduo looked scared and unready to fight. However, Sawyer knew that if she rained in Isis now, it would be hard to convince her to come out to battle again. She did not wish the wild Pokemon any real harm. They could just have a quick battle, right? "I'm sorry, Duduo. We need to practice battling. If you battle with us, I'll give you a potion and make sure you're fine afterwards." She did not want to feel like she was coercing him. If he was nervous about it, she would take care of him.
Isis did not have time for negotiations. <You better accept it,> she said to the other Pokemon. She took his Growl as a threat. As soon as her trainer finished speaking, she figured it was time to attack. She opened her mouth to use Poison Sting against the Duduo.

The Doduo tried to listen to the trainer. She seemed friendly enough. A potion? Before he could think much of what she told him, his eyes widened at the Ekans' words. That did not calm him one bit. The next thing he knew he was struck with Poison Sting. <Ow!> he cried out. It sure did sting, but he did not believe he had been poisoned. He shivered in fear. Was she going to attack again? It did not seem so; it was his turn. Seeing no way out of this, he decided to just fight back. He got as close as necessary to the Ekans before pecking her once with both of his heads. Sawyer suppressed a groan when her Ekans began attacking without her orders. This one was going to take some work. At least now the Duduo seemed up for the battle. "Don't attack until I tell you to. Use Leer and Wrap!" She hoped she would listen this time.
Isis ignored her trainer's criticism. The Duduo was too quick for her, and she ended up being hurt both both of his heads. She vowed to never let it happen again. Now that her trainer was giving her commands, she figured she would follow them. She leered at her opponent and then struck out the end of her tail in an attempt to grab the Duduo and squeeze him. If she could get him, she would not let go.

The Doduo leaned back after he had attacked. What next? He shivered at the leer the Ekans was giving him. He was already scared, so that look just made it twice was worse. Unable to react, he found himself pulled close by the Ekans until her tail wrapped around him, squeezing him. <Owww...> he mumbled. It did not feel like she would be letting go anytime soon, so he had to do something. But what? He was too frightened to think quickly or clearly. Right, he had a beak! Two beaks, to be exact. He leaned both of his heads down and began to repeatedly peck at the part of the Ekans that was wrapped around him. The Duduo was pretty smart. He had quickly come up with a plan to free himself from his predicament. Sawyer was impressed, but she still had no plans on catching him. "Hang in there, Isis. Don't let go yet. Use Bite!" Hopefully, that would do the trick.
Isis flinched in pain when the Duduo began to peck at her. Little pest! She was pleased with the order she was given. She would not let go so easily! She had been dying to bite into the bird. She wondered how he tasted. She opened her jaws wide and bent her head down to try it out.

The Doduo cried out in pain from the bite, making him cease his pecking. He wasn't food! Maybe the Ekans thought he was. He was still being constricted. <Let me go!> he managed to choke out. What was happening to him? Terrible fear clutched at him, making it hard to think. The only thing he could think to do was to keep on pecking the Ekans, so he jabbed his two beaks at the snake-like Pokemon repeatedly once more. Hopefully, he would not be punished again with another bite.

The battle was going quite well. Sawyer figured a couple of more rounds would wrap up victory. Then she could get onto the next step of her ultimate plan! "Use Poison Sting and then you can let go." Yes, this would work nicely.
Isis wanted to continue to hold onto the Duduo and Bite him, but she listened to her trainer. She shot out poisonous darts directly at her opponent before letting him go. She hissed at him from a distance now, daring him to strike back.

The Doduo was relieved that the Ekans finally let go of him. The Poison Sting had hurt a lot, though, but at least he did not feel poisoned. Still, his energy was quickly draining, and he knew he had to come up with a plan quickly. There was one attack he had not tried yet that could work. The flying type took a deep breath and tried to get into a rage. Then he ran wildly at the Ekans, moving his heads in different directions.

Sawyer had not been expecting the Duduo to know Rage. Still, her Ekans appeared to be in better shape. It did not seem like the bird Pokemon would last much longer. She made a mental note to not forget to give the Duduo a berry for helping them out. "Good job, Isis. Finish it up with Bite!"
Isis was struck hard by the Duduo's attack. She was enraged that she had let herself slip up like that. Her opponent was not supposed to be that strong! Well, she would teach him a lesson once and for all. She darted forward with her jaws wide, poised to strike.

The Doduo scrambled to get away from the Ekans' jaws. He was not a snack! Unluckily for him, he tripped and fell forward, giving his opponent the opportunity to Bite him. The pain was soon replaced by dizziness as he fainted.

Isis moved back after biting the Doduo. She hissed in satisfaction to see that he had fainted. <I have one.> She looked up at her trainer expectantly. She did not have permission to eat him, did she?
"Great job, Isis!" Sawyer cheered. She really had made a great choice in capturing the snake Pokemon. The two of them could go far together. She just had to work on her attitude a bit... "You can take a rest now." She returned her to her Pokeball before she could do any further damage to the Doduo. Then she pulled out a potion and moved towards the fainted Pokemon. A promise was a promise, and she wanted to make sure nothing bad happened to the Doduo since she was not going to catch it. She bent down and purred the potion down his throat. When she saw his eyes open, she gave him a small smile. "Thanks fr the battle." Then she stood up and walked in the direction she had first come. That was enough training for today, but she would be back. |
