As a highly social creature, Dawn actually knew a few of the people the duo walked by. She chirped greetings to a few, though others she made a clear point to avoid even acknowledging. Yes, she was much, much more in her element now. Between the interplay of vision and walking through the abyss formed by the fog, Dawn found herself relaxing.
Thank goodness, she wasn’t sure how much longer she would be able to stand being on the edge.
Aware of how she looked by her reflection in the entrance door, Dawn braced herself. She was certainly glad she’d already made an impression on the regular workers of the establishment. Walking in and wiping her feet on the welcome mat, it only took a couple of seconds for a waitress to come over.
“Dawn, hiya! You brought a friend, too. Nice to meet ya, I’m Toni.” Ah, yes. The owner’s daughter. She was certainly lively, though not too much. “Jeez, ya look like a wreck, Dawn.”
”Thank you. Toni.” Dawn released her hold on Jack’s hand to throw up both in a half-defeated, half-defensive manner. It was sure fun knowing the wait staff well enough to where they felt like they could make jokes at her expense.
Either ignoring her friendly acquaintance’s obvious displeasure with having her appearnace pointed out or too busy noticing that the shop’s audino Macy was going to be needed, Toni would more or less attempt to herd the duo. “Get seated, get seated. I’ll get Macy out here and be back with your menus. If ya’ll’s pokemon are as banged up as you two are, then they’ll need to recover from their battle, too.”
Unless Jack had protested in some form, the blue haired girl and the black-and-white haired boy would now be standing by a bistro style table. Dawn looked to Jack. ”Sorry. What they serve is better than how they serve it, though.” Plopping down in the cushioned seat, Dawn realized exactly how tired she was. Shopping bag on one side of her and a newly released Psyche on her other, she knew she wouldn’t want to get up any time soon.
At once, the skitty realized where she was. She looked over the area and then her squinted eyes fell on Jack. The boy smelled like a dog person. <Who the heck is that.> It was less a question and more a demand.
Allowing her skitty to jump into her lap, Dawn began petting her pink starter. ”There’s more polite ways to ask.” Yes. The familiar space didn’t much bat an eyelash at a couple of trainers “fresh from battle” in need of patching up. Recalling his question of if she'd had enough excitement, Dawn decided she might as well explain that now. Story time! "Jack, you know about Ho-oh, right? The guardian of the skies?"

Walking into the establishment, the two of them were greeted by a very friendly female who worked there. As Dawn let go of Jack's hand, he let the two of them catch up briefly. As they exchanged pleasantries, Jack began to look around the room. Making sure to take note of all the entrances and exits, get a head count, and memorize the layout.
After Dawn and the female worker finished saying hi, they were then lead by the worker to a table to sit and enjoy themselves.
”Sorry. What they serve is better than how they serve it, though.” Dawn mentioned to Jack.
"Its fine, as long as I can see the front door to see who comes in and out of here." Jack insisted. After all, he had to keep them safe.
As the two took their seats, Dawn seemed to be more relaxed and relieved now that they finally were in a safe place. She plopped down suddenly as her newly summoned Pokemon made an appearance. The Skitty seemed questionable of Jack at first as it sniffed him.
"A Skitty huh?" Jack said as he then saw it hop on Dawn's lap where it was then petted.
After seeing Dawn with her Pokemon out, Jack then released his in his lap as a cloud of black mist formed around his Poochyena, indicating it was a dark type pokemon. Looking up at its master, its tail wagged quickly as it saw its master again.
"Alright boy, be good. I know you see that Skitty, but she wont hurt you. Sit. Behave." Jack said to his Poocheyena. Then, without hesitation, Jack's Poochyena sat in his lap as it just looked at the Skitty calmly, obeying his masters commands to a "T".
"Jack, you know about Ho-oh, right? The guardian of the skies?" Dawn asked.
"Ho-Oh?... I don't know much about that Pokemon. Just the normal myths, legends, and folklore anyone else has. Which is close to nothing. Why do you ask?" Jack replied...

See who comes in and--Oh! Oh. The realization in her eyes was probably a bit amusing. The little eatery was plenty clear; it’d be pretty tough to sneak up on anyone in here. Even the kitchen had a huge glassless “window” where the customers could see pretty much everything going on back there.
Dawn grinned at the obedient poochyena. She wasn’t sure if Jack was just that good of a trainer, the poochyena was simply well mannered, or perhaps a bit of both, but they certainly made a good duo. She might have desired her and Psyche to get along like that if Psyche was a contest pokemon. The kitten would need an ego as big as the sun itself to command the stage. A little sassiness probably wouldn’t hurt anything.
At least the skitty was going to play nice.
”Oh good, then I don’t have to go into detail.” She adjusted the sleeves of the red jacket again before beginning. ”It’s probably a little religious of me, but if the last bit excitement for the day is a rainbow, that’s great! Rainbows sometimes come from Ho-oh, and where he goes, peace and happiness follow.” And, after a day like today, she knew she could use a bit of that. Jack probably would appreciate some, too. ”Of course, actually meeting him or getting one of his feathers would be better…” she mused. Still, she had explained to him her words earlier and brought up a bit of conversation from way back on the street. She knew people liked it when that kind of thing was recalled and wondered what sort of reaction the boy might have.
Right on time, Macy the audino walked over. She held a tray with four pokepuffs on it. She cooed in greeting, asking who was hurt. Her heal pulse move worked better on pokemon than people, but it could patch up minor injuries with the greatest of ease. Toni followed after the audino, two menus in on hand.
“Alright, kiddos--er, folks, take ya pick!” she said to them. She passed the menus off.

”Oh good, then I don’t have to go into detail.” Dawn said as she adjusted the sleeves of the red jacket again before beginning. ”It’s probably a little religious of me, but if the last bit excitement for the day is a rainbow, that’s great! Rainbows sometimes come from Ho-oh, and where he goes, peace and happiness follow... Of course, actually meeting him or getting one of his feathers would be better…” she mused.
"After everything that happened in the last hour, you still want more excitement huh? ... But I never heard any Pokemon that possessed power like that... And this Pokemon is powerful enough to change the minds and moods of many, just by simply flying over head?" Jack asked.
As he heard her words he could not help but think that this is a Pokemon that would not interest New Team Rocket. Then again, with the new age stuff these days, it might be possible to change its mindset into something... not so happy.
Next to them, an Audino suddenly appeared as she held a tray of Pokepuff's for their Pokemon to eat. Following close behind was the female worker named Toni as she then handed Dawn and Jack the menu's.
“Alright, kiddos--er, folks, take ya pick!” she said to them.
Leaning over, Jack's Poochyena sniffed the Pokepuff's scent in the air as its nose was going crazy. Looking up at its trainer it held puppy dog eyes as its ears fell. Petting his Pokemon, Jack then reached over and grabbed a Pokepuff from the Aubino's tray and held it out in front of him so the Poochyena could eat it.
Eyeing the menu, Jack then looked up at Dawn. "I'm new to this sort of thing... what do you suggest?"

Of course, he automatically thought how powerful that made Ho-oh. No wonder the guardian of the skies flew away from the Bell Tower, Dawn thought. He really shouldn’t doubt the legendaries… But, regardless of his opinion differing from her own, she’d let him think what he wanted. It was only respectful to do so. ”Togekisses do it, too,” she tutted. ”I mean, the chances of finding a togekiss are pretty low, given how rare togepi are plus how long raising a pokemon takes, but, still.” The only reason she'd even bothered to learn about the jubilee pokemon was that someone once told her she looked like the crown princess of Sinnoh. Vanity pressed her to see how alike they really were. It was skin deep, from what Dawn could tell.
Whereas Jack thought about how that power might be used, she wondered why such creatures fled from humanity. Dawn indulged in mythology like some folks indulged in dirty novels--giddily and with shameless zeal.
Psyche helped herself, picking up a strawberry pokepuff with her little forepaws. Being almost too short legged to actually place it on the table, the kitten let out a determined humph once it was safely there. Then, she began nibbling. And, snorting. Yeah, Psyche wasn’t that graceful. Dawn kind of wondered why she named the skitty after such a romanticized figure before getting to know the kitten better.
The blue haired girl could only grin, opening her own menu. Toni left to let them get their orders figured out while the audino put the rest of the pokepuffs, settled on a small plate, on the table. ”What kinda stuff do you like? I mean, they’ve got straight coffee and milk, and that sort of stuff… I like the peppermint hot chocolate, though.” She paused mid-sentence, fighting another sneeze. Sensation passing with no result, she continued. ”Oh, but you should really try their root beer float! They dress it up like a sundae~” You know, he might actually be hungry… ”I haven’t really tried their snacks and stuff, but--” here, she subtly pointed her pinkie to a set customers diagonally from them. The brother and sister duo were making a point to fight over who would get the last bit of a pastry, much to the open embarrassment of their middle aged mother. ”I think their crepes speak for themselves.”

Looking over, he noticed the siblings fighting over the crepe in a childish manner. Taking her suggestions into thought he then began to look over the menu. Somethings looked better than others, but after a few seconds, he seemed to of known what he wanted.
"I'll take the Root Beer Float, and the Dark Chocolate Brownie that comes with that Candy cane stuff crushed into it." Jack said as he then handed the menu off to the waiter.
Allowing Dawn to order, he then waited till the waitress left.
Leaning forward, he then locked eyes with hers. "Tell me about yourself Dawn, where you from? How long you been at the academy? Got any hobbies? Any boyfriends? Anything I need to know?" Jack asked as his Poocheyna then curled up in his lap and began to look at the kids fight over the crepe next to them...

Nodding, Dawn waved her arm to attract Toni’s attention. Quick as a whip, the other girl was over. A quick conversation and the duo’s orders were taken care of. Toni rushed to the kitchen.
And, that was when Jack made his fatal flaw. He asked Dawn… about herself. Making herself quite comfortable, an almost predatory grin crossed her freshly-healed lips. She put her elbows on the table and put her chin in her palms. He was probably going to regret this. ”Twinleaf, Sinnoh; south of Jubilife City. First semester. Call myself a fashionista--if it’s got anything to do with clothes, I probably dabble in it. Position’s currently open.” Now, the last question was actually pretty hard. She considered herself pretty normal. Her expression changed to thoughtful. ”Hm, I don’t think there’s anything worth--” Oh. Oh, no, she did have something worth mentioning. Looking to the wall, she slowly took her elbows off the table and kept a much less confident, much more forced smile on her lips. He was gonna be pissed, she could feel it. Well, it seemed she was the one who was at once regretting the conversation.
She knew that she should tell him. But, he’d probably think all sorts of things about her. Not that she didn’t deserve it, but she still didn’t want to show her ugly side to him this soon. ”W-would, um, running with a rough crowd be of a-any importance…?” It was obvious by the way she now refused to make eye contact with Jack that she was as guilty as a kid caught with crumbs on their cheek. ”I mean, give me by this coming Friday, and I can totally put some distance between us if needed, but, uh…” She knew joining a gang was probably going to fill her with regret, but she figured it would happen when she was middle aged and bitter or something.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place, it seemed. If she spilled the beans to Jack, Greed was gonna be furious. If she kept the secret from Jack, he was gonna be disgusted with her when she found out. She didn’t even think “if”; from what he had proved thus far, she simply knew it was a matter of time--probably not even a long time, at that She had already promised Greed to help with the upcoming rave, and backing out now wouldn’t end well, she figured. Furthermore, ditching the Seven Sins gang without explanation would probably end with one of the other members sticking their noses where Dawn had previously stuck hers. Dawn didn’t normally cuss, but inside her head right now as a maelstrom of creative curses, most of which were directed at Reshiram for working way too quickly. You ****** monster dove dragon, I didn’t ******* ask for you to do this with your **** colored feathers. I hope you stay lost, you utter *****. Rage at the heavens, Dawn; rage at the heavens.
In a probably futile attempt to quell whatever she’d started, she shot Jack the most angelic, apologetic, give-me-mercy eye flutter and smile she could muster. Inside, she was screaming for Toni to hurry up with the food so she’d have a break from the chewing out she knew she was about to get.
Making a point to ignore Dawn’s current predicament, Psyche used her tail to bring another one of the pokepuffs closer to her. <Mm, citrus!>

W-would, um, running with a rough crowd be of a-any importance…? I mean, give me by this coming Friday, and I can totally put some distance between us if needed, but, uh…” Dawn said nervously as she would no longer look at Jack.
Shortly after she gave him the equivalent to "puppy dog look" a human could give, as she physically tried to express mercy the best she could... and nervously.
"What do you mean by "Rough Crowd" exactly Dawn? You a bully at school or something?" Jack asked in a sarcastic tone, now that his curiosity was piqued. He then glared at Dawn with a serious look. His Poochyena then rose up out of its laying position as it sensed its master's mood in a concerned manner.
"What is it? Is this something I have to take care of?" Jack continued, never letting his piercing blue eyes escape hers. Jack needed answers now, and he needed to know it all.

She shied away ever so slightly when he glared at her. Darn it, and she’d just got to hoping she’d be done being on the receiving end of those. She wrapped her arms around Psyche in a sort of self-comforting manner.
The skitty, looking at the boy and telling by his posture that he was merely intimidating her owner and not about to jump up or anything at the moment, decided she could wait to act defensive. Besides, she figured; that poochyena’s not fighting type. Yeah… Psyche was not nearly as cautious as Dawn.
She tried looking at the single remaining pokepuff, but it was awkward on her end up to blatantly ignore someone glaring down at her. She looked up, her slowly curling and drying bangs concealing her eyes a bit. ”If it was the bully thing, I wouldn’t even bring it up…” In her own opinion, basically everyone was a bully in their own way. In whatever field they dominated it, she figured that power corrupted. There were no good leaders, only leaders that were good for you. ”I told you I can take care of it, if I can have some time, but…” She cast her big blue eyes around, making sure Toni wasn’t near and that the kids were still making themselves the center of attention in the cafe.
”So… I’m sorta kinda a part of a, um, gang.” And, here, she’d wait to gauge his reaction. If he was furious, then she would absolutely decide to turn this in her favor and act like an over-dramatic crybaby. Jack seemed chivalrous enough; she’d use that to her advantage. He probably wouldn’t enjoy making a girl cry. Yes, that was Dawn’s plan, pretty much; guilt him for (unintentionally?) making her feel guilty.
However, if he merely kept the same glare or expressed disbelief, or even some sort of reaction to the fact he’d just saddled himself with the protection of little miss thug-diva, she’d continue. ”Seven Sins gang. We really haven’t even done anything yet, just formed from what I know,” she finished. No biggie, no biggie. ”I just wanted you to know, it won’t even be relevant soon.” Right?

”I told you I can take care of it, if I can have some time, but…” She cast her big blue eyes around, making sure Toni wasn’t near and that the kids were still making themselves the center of attention in the cafe.
”So… I’m sorta kinda a part of a, um, gang.” And, here, she’d wait to gauge his reaction.
Still keeping his glaring eyes on her, he showed no reaction to her words. He probably thought it was more amusing than anything else.
"What? An after school gang?" Jack asked as he then leaned back in his chair, not really thinking it was really anything big, or worry over. If they were just a bunch of kids getting together and calling themselves a gang then he'd let them go. It would be a different story if the gang actually committed gang like actions. Until then, he didn't bother.
”Seven Sins gang. We really haven’t even done anything yet, just formed from what I know,” she finished. ”I just wanted you to know, it won’t even be relevant soon.” Dawn said.
"Seven sins gang?... For some reason I cant picture you in a gang Dawn." Jack said. "They have any plans in store?" Jack asked. He figured he might as well ask, if it sounded like anything big or something Team Rocket would be interested in, then he would consider joining. On the other hand, if it was just a bunch of kids who liked to get together and watch movies and act tough in the halls in front of other students, well...
Walking up to them, the waitress Toni and her Pokemon arrived next to their table as she set their orders in front of them. Looking over it all, Jack nodded to the waitress as his order was correct and looked good. Raising hitting the straw on the table top, the paper wrapping around it fell down as it exposed the long plastic straw. Making the straw free from its wrap, he then stuck it in his Root Beer Float. With a little resistance from the ice cream on top, the straw made its way towards the dark brown fizzling liquid.
Pressing his lips around the straw he then sucked up the refreshing drink, as it tasted sweet and satisfying. Taking the fork in hand off the small saucer that housed the brownie, Jack began to cut into it, as he could see the bits of crushed up peppermint inside the brownie. After putting it in his mouth he also really liked the taste.
"This place isn't bad Dawn. Good call." Jack said as he finished his meal and float.

Oh, this was a better reaction than she could have hoped for. It helped solidate the fact that she couldn’t really predict him, but still--a good reaction was a good reaction. His glare was still uncomfortable to abide under, but she wasn’t gonna complain as that seemed to be his default expression. He’s gonna get frown lines young, she idly thought.
She was torn on whether to be insulted at how quickly he dismissed the idea or relieved, though. She supposed that, quite naturally, this sort of thing was small time stuff. She desperately wanted to tell him that she was Pride, and it was kind of hurting her namesake that he, just like Greed, thought she was in a bit over her head. She shrugged, once more comfortable now that the tension had mostly passed. ”If ya’ wanna see for yourself, you can.” Dawn wondered how the boy with the two-tone hair would feel about the alcohol and the gambling that would no doubt be going on in addition to the lewd dancing and such. Then, she wondered if he danced. He seemed a bit to serious for her type of dancing, though. Actually… you know what they say about books and covers…
Delicately raising the hot but not scalding cop to her lips, Dawn took a sip. She stirred the candy cane. Good, Toni had remembered that Dawn didn’t like whipped cream or cinnamon on hers. Blunt, but, thoughtful, the waitress was. Dawn drank slowly and daintily as Jack sampled the cafe’s wares. Wiping her lip with a napkin, Dawn resisted laughing.
Uh, huh… I don’t think *I’m* the one who likes sweets… She hadn’t chided him back there because he was doing her a real favor, but now she felt like he’d be the one to frequent here more often. She only came as a treat, as her everyday diet didn’t allow such splurges in calories. ”Hehe, thanks.”
She quietly cleaned up Psyche’s crubs by brushing them off the side of the table and into her palm, emptying them finally into her mostly empty mug. The kitten, figuring that if the poochyena was going to go after the last pokepuff, he would have done it now, let out a smug <Ya snooze, ya lose> before taking it herself.
”I just cleaned up after you.”
<Meh.> The normal type didn’t really care.

After the two finished their meal, Jack petted his Poochynea that was still in his lap as it looked up at him. Wagging its tail quickly it seemed to really like the attention.
"Alright Dawn, lets get out of here and get you back to the Academy so you can get some rest.... You're gonna need it." Jack said as he then placed his credit card on the edge of the table, showing they were ready to pay.
Seconds later, the waitress arrived as he then took the card as well as the plates and cups they used.
"Uhh, didn't you want to see how much the bill was first sir?" The waitress asked Jack.
"No need. Its fine" Jack replied. After all, there was no telling how much money he had access to with that card. It was pretty much the government agency he was working for money.
Smiling at the remark, the waitress then tried to balance everything on her hands and arms.
"Be back with your receipt!" She said before walking away.
As soon as the waitress left, her pokemon returned to the table with two small brown bags that were labeled with the logo of the cafe. Inside each bag was a Pokepuff for both Dawn and Jack's Pokemon. Running off, the Pokemon returned to its owner as it attempted to help out with the checking out process.
Grabbing one of the bags, Jack then placed it next to him, as he was sure to give it to his Poochyena later that evening. After a minute or so, the waitress Toni returned to the table with the receipt.
"Thanks for coming in guys! See-ya sooon!" He said happily with a smile as her Pokemon then waved and smiled as well.
Taking the pen in hand, Jack signed the receipt and provided a generous tip.
BILL: $10.53 TIP: $50.00
TOTAL: $60.53
"Ready?" Jack asked Dawn as he then looked up at her.

She wasn’t about to argue with him. She did need the rest. She could hear her bed calling--no, serenading her! Dawn, Dawn, you stupid idiot, take some medicine and go to sleep before you end up really sick~! She was suddenly very happy she bothered to make her bed and fluff her pillows every morning. That was gonna feel like heaven~
Dawn was so lost in her daydream of crawling into bed that she sort of zoned out of the majority of the exchange between Jack and Toni. It was probably for the best. She would have made some snarky comment about how Jack was sure generous, but also a part of any debt his home region had. They were getting along smoothly; her big mouth could ruin that at any second, if she put the effort into it. She’d burned her fair share of bridges before, after all.
Full but greedy, Psyche took the doggie bag in her mouth, only to find her little legs were too short to allow her to carry it without dragging. <Dawn!> she hissed. <Put it in… that bag o’yours!>
”Hm? Oh, sorry, Psyche,” she apologized, taking the bag from the skitty and then returning the pink kitten. Dawn smiled when Toni returned. ”Hehe, see ya’, Toni.”
Standing, Dawn nodded, grinning once more. ”Yup~! Thanks for the snack, Jack.” There was a pause before Dawn’s grin became a bit goofier. That rhymed. Maybe the fever was getting worse. Even though she was a poetry enthusiast, Dawn was never normally this… dumb about it. Realizing she was starting to act out on her health, Dawn picked up her bag and tried to be a bit more serious. ”Y-Yeah, let’s go.”
ooc: thread end?

Before the two walked out the door, Jack meet with the Audino as it seemed to be walking towards him. Looking over his shoulder, he noticed Dawn was still half zoned out, and helping her Pokemon get situated. Knowing she wouldn't notice, rather, was to busy to notice. He took the item from the Audino, and quickly pocketed it.
"Perfect, you got the note I left for you on the receipt." Jack thought as he then then nodded to the Audino, before he turned to walk off.
Quickly meeting up with Dawn, the two walked out the door of the Cafe, Jack stopped as he put his hands in his pant pockets. The sun was trying to shine through the clouds above as a light mist of rain started to fall down gently in spurts. It looked like it was gonna clear up soon, but there was no telling just yet.
Looking down at Dawn, he held his typical emotionless face.
"Remember what we talked about today Dawn." Jack said in a serious tone. Knowing he had to trust her now, and her trust him.
Looking around at the now empty street, and then the gloomy sky above, Jack then looked Dawn in her eyes.
"Looks like this is good-bye for now Dawn." Jack said as he nodded and started to walk off.
After the first few steps, he wondered how long it would take Dawn to notice the medicine he sneaked into her bag for her sickness, that he requested from the Audino...
