OOC: This thread is for Kiki and Kagirinai's battle, and it occurs first in roleplay time. Kiki should post first. She also has the first move. IC: The tournament semifinals had begun. Only four trainers were left, and two of them happened to be from Hoenn. As Principal Sash headed to her spot, she wondered if the two Hoenn students would end of battling each other in the finals, securing their team's victory. Either way, Hoenn had twice as much chance to win the grand prize as the other two remaining teams, Johto and Kanto. Sash was partial to the Johto student who was battling today since that was her home region, but she better than to show favorites.
Her Vulpix walked by her side as she made her way to the middle of the battle field. "Hello, everyone," she said, looking around with a smile. "It is time for the first semifinal battle. Please welcome Kiki and Kagirinai!" She stepped off to the side with Maya so the trainers could take their places. Let the excitement begin! |

Kiki was pleased that she had made it to the tournament. Her team had one of the four highest scores, so they had earned a right to bypass the first round of the tournament. She was excited to be representing her team today. All of them had worked hard to get to this point. She would try her best to win and advance to the final round. She knew just the trusty Pokemon to help take her there.
The girl confidently strode out into the Battle Area. She glanced at Principal Sash, giving her a small smile of acknowledgement as she took her place on the battlefield. Then she reached for a Pokeball. "It's time, Alice!" A pretty Bayleef appeared before her. Alice looked back at her with bright eyes. She enjoyed battling, and she could not wait for the fun and excitement she was sure would come.

Kagirinai yawned as he entered into the arena running his fingers through his messy spiked hair. He pushed his glasses into place as his lab coat hung off his shoulders. His long white kimono sleeves were pushed back allowing the air to touch his fingers as his black hakama pants fluttered. The scientist in the making made his way towards the battle field eying his opponent who had called upon the grass type pokemon Bayleef. In accordance then if he was to play this right then there was only one choice in pokemon to use, of course he was going to use his strongest pokemon anyway.
His hands slipped into his lab coat as he withdrew a single pokeball and allowed it to spin on the tip of his right index finger. He gave a lazy yawn before he tossed the sphere into the air where it expanded. The sphere hit the ground and opened allowing a beam of white light to shoot out and begin to take the shape of his favoured pokemon. The skin of his Nidorino reflected on the lights as he gave a bellowing roar. Dokuton stomped the earth as he glared towards the Bayleef. He reared back on his hind legs before slamming his front paws into the ground.
Kagirinai gave a soft yawn as he laid down on his side of the battle field facing towards his foe. He prompted his right hand under his chin using it as a pillow, "Dokuton you know what to do" spoke Kagirinai softly as he yawned again.

Kiki examined her opponent as he entered. Why was he yawning? Perhaps he had stayed up late preparing for this battle. His following behavior, however, suggested otherwise. Did he care about this at all? Oh well. The girl was here to win, and she was going to try her best. "Alice, let's start off with Razor Leaf!" She hoped starting off strong would give her an advantage. The Nidorino did look quite tough. They were going to have to be careful. Hopefully, Alice's new attack would prove very useful.
The Bayleef smiled when a Nidorino appeared. <Hi,> she said in a friendly tone. <Good luck.> She had never battled a poison type, but she was up to the challenge. She loved how strong she had become since evolving. She was determined to win this. At her trainer's command, she stood her ground and shot out sharp leaves right at the other Pokemon, hoping they would hit.

Dokuton pushed his hooves into the ground allowing the razor sharp leaves to slam into his body. His body jolted but he stood fast as they slammed into his body. He leered forth towards the Bayleef to lower its defensive power to boost the strength of his offensive attacks. If he was going to beat this grass type pokemon he would need to utilise the single flying technique he knew, peck, while peck was relatively weak it was effective against grass types and by lowering the Bayleefs defence it would boost the attacks strength. When the attack finally died down Dokuton gave a powerful howl as he stomped the earth and began his charge forth. The poison pokemon charged towards the grass type lowering his horn as it began to glow to signalling the start of his peck attack. He then lunged with all his might to slam into the Bayleef with the full force of his attack hoping to deal what damage he could. The entire time Kagirinai merely laid back watching the battle with a single opened eye not paying all to much attention to the battle field. He placed a hand over his mouth as he yawned loudly. Kiki raised her eyebrows at the other trainer's behavior. Clearly, his Pokemon was the one in control. She bit off her judgments as she focused on the battle. She was going to have to watch the Nidorino carefully to anticipate what he was going to do. Instead of telling her own Pokemon to dodge, she called out, "Quick, use Reflect!" The attack would halve damage taken for five turns, which would come in handy. Like expected, Alice was struck by the Peck attack, but she did not seem too badly harmed. "Now use Vine Whip!"
Alice flinched at her opponent's Leer. For a second, she could not think. Then her trainer's voice broke through, and she obediently put up her light shield to reduce the damage of oncoming attacks. She had no time to get away from the Peck attack. She winced slightly from the pain, but she was fine. She moved away from the other Pokemon slightly before flinging out her vines to strike him.

Dokuton flared his nostrils as he stomped the ground his eyes never leaving the Bayleef as he stood his ground waiting for her to attack. As the grass type used her vine whip he waited patiently and calmly as they sailed towards him. He let his muscles stance as he readied himself to stand his ground as the vines approached. Dokuton opened his jaws wide catching the first vine as the second came around and struck him in the side. His muscles clenched as he didn't budge from his spot.
He spat the vine out and released another powerful leer in order to lower the offending pokemons defence even further. He released a battle cry as he lowered his horn allowing it to glow as he sprung forth charging in towards his opponent in order to strike her with another peck. He thundered across the terrain before lunging towards the Bayleef to slam into her again with his peck.

Kiki's eyes widened in surprise when the Nidorino grabbed Alice's vine in his mouth. This was not good. She was going to have to avoid that attack until she could find a way around that defense. The other trainer's attitude still irked her, but she was too focused on the battle to give it much thought. While Reflect was useful, there was another attack they could use to counter that Leer. "Hang in there, Alice. Use Growl and Tackle." She hoped this would work. This was going to be a long battle.
Alice was also surprised when her opponent grabbed her vine. She did not pull it free because she knew it would only do damage to herself. As soon as she was able, she contracted her vines back into her body. She was too distracted to dodge the Peck attack again. This one hurt more, but she was determined to go on. She growled menacingly at the Nidorino before running at him for an attack of her own.

Dokuton sneered as the grass type pokemon growled towards him to lower his offensive capabilities. It would not matter as long as he kept his leer up combined with his peck he could win this. He clenched his teeth as the Bayleef came charging towards him to use her tackle attack. The poison type lowered his horn in order for it to be used in the collision in the hopes of activating his poison point ability in the attempt to hopefully poison the grass pokemon.
Dokuton’s muscles clenched as he kept his body positioned as the attack collided. His claws dug into the terrain to keep himself from sliding back. He remained strong shaking his head from the attack before glaring forth at the Bayleef with another leer, combining his own glare in the hopes of intimidating the Bayleef, scare tactics was something he was not above doing.
The Poison type lowered his horn allowing it to begin glowing to signal the start of his peck attack once more. He pushed off the ground and charged forth his hooves stomping across the terrain as he charged in to slam into the grass pokemon. Unlike her he did not need to rely on his trainer in combat, he was capable of performing without being given commands.

Kiki took a moment to evaluate how the battle was going. Razor Leaf seemed to be the most effective attack thus far, so she decided to stick with it. Alice's health was draining, but she could take care of that soon. "Now use Growl and Razor Leaf!" She hoped this combination would work. They needed to find a way to get the upper hand.
Alice quickly backed away after slamming into the Nidorino. She did not like his horn, but, fortunately, it had not done her any serious damage yet. She did not let his Leer intimidate her, though she was hit by another Peck attack. She vowed to try to dodge the next one. Shaking herself off, she growled before shooting her leaves out at the poison type. She was going to win this. She had to.

Dokuton flared his nostrils and stomped the earth as the Bayleef growled towards him to lower his offensive power. He would have none of that as he retalited with his leer. His eyes followed the movement of the razor leaves as they came flying towards him. He took a single step back as the deadly sharp blades of leaves sailed towards him aiming to collide with his body. It was then his trainer spoke of the first time since the battle began, "Poison Sting" was his only command. The command registered in the poison pokemons mind as his horn began to glow a dark shade of purple. He aimed and released the built up attack firing off a barrage of glowing poisonous needles striking the incoming Razor leaf attack. His poison sting was being used to block the incoming attack. Kiki was startled upon hearing the other trainer's voice. So, he had been paying attention after all. She had to admit, using Poison Sting to block Razor Leaf was a smart move. It reminded her of something that could be used in a contest. However, none of the needles hit her own Pokemon. She saw this as a good opportunity for her grass type to heal herself. "Alice, use Synthesis!"
Alice grit her teeth in frustration when the Nidorino blocked her attack. At least he had not used an offense move against her. She was just going to have to do better the next time. Her trainer's next command brought her some relief. Finally! She relaxed as she absorbed the power of the sun to heal herself. She would be up and fighting again soon!

Kagirinai slow stood up with a yawn as he began to stretch his limbs before cracking his neck from the left to the right in order to get rid of the kinks in his limbs. He lifted a hand to his lips giving a loud yawn as his single right eye slowly settled onto the battle as his hands slipped into the pockets of his lab coat, "I suppose its time I take over and begin the experiment" spoke the scientist in training as he pushed his glasses up with the palm of his hand. It was time he took things seriously and intervened, while he normally preferred to stay out of the battle and allow his pokemon to do there thing, this time he could not afford to. The young male brushed his hair back with his fingers his eyes narrowing taking on a serious gaze as his posture became rigid and stiff as his more serious side came to light. Dokuton glanced at his trainer a new fire burning in his eyes. He gave a howl as Kagirinai became serious. The poison type turned to the grass pokemon who was healing herself with the use of her synthesis ability, no matter it wouldn't help her that much. Dokuton snorted and stomped the ground as he gave a battle cry. Kagirinai spoke in a low manner almost a whisper yet it carried on through the arena, " Dokuton the experiment has begun, let our research come to fruition. Combine Focus Energy and Peck" spoke Kagirinai as a mad glint appeared in his lone right eye followed by a mad grin of sorts. He could not wait to analyse this battle, to see the fruits of his research come true. Everyone in this world was someone to be examined to be experimented upon, humans, pokemon, plants everything. Dokuton grinned as he began to focus his energy in his body. A white aurora erupted around him as he gave a loud battle cry as his blood began to pump as his mind became focused on his foe as the aurora died down. He howled and began to charge forth his horn glowing bright white as he ran to slam into the grass pokemon with his peck. Kiki raised her eyebrows in interest at the other trainer's command. So, he could think after all. Was he finally paying attention? She hoped so, for this was something to be taken seriously. Although Alice had managed to heal herself through Synthesis, Kiki knew better than to get overconfident. The Nidorino was still a tough opponent, and they could not afford a critical hit. "Good job, Alice. Now jump up and use Razor Leaf!" She hoped this would work.
Alice felt much better after absorbing the sun's rays into her skin. The Nidorino's actions dd not faze her. She felt so lively and energetic that she was sure she could do anything that was asked of her. She started running at her opponent the same time he came at her, and when they were about to collide, she jumped and soared over him, shooting her razor-sharp leaves at him in the process. She landed on the other side of the poison type, skidding in the dirt. She turned to check the damage that had been done.

Kagirinai pushed his glasses up as he analysed his opponent, carefully following the Bayleefs exact movements looking for an opening or even a weak spot. The neck or belly would be the best place to aim but perhaps he should aim for the Bayleefs legs first in order to slow down her movements and decrease her ability to avoid his Nidorino's attacks. He rubbed his chin as the grass pokemon avoided the peck and released a volley of razor sharp leaves towards him. Kagirinai called out in reply, "Evasive manoeuvre alpha. Follow up tactic gamma" He had gone through the process of naming different strategies and movement styles with his poison pokemon in order to maximise efficiency and to avoid their strategies to come to light by shouting them allowing his opponent to over hear them. Dokuton's ears picked up the call and he began to evade the incoming razor leaves moving his body side to side his eyes tracking the movements of the razor sharp leaves as they sailed towards him. He kept his movements up as the leaves hit the ground around him. As the volley came to an end he shot forwards a white aurora erupting around him as his focus energy activated once more in order to increase his critical rate even further. He thundered down the battle field horn glowing bright purple as he released a volley of poisonous needles splitting the barrage into five segments one aimed for the Bayleef's chest the other four lots aimed towards each of the grass types legs in order to decrease her manoeuvrability Level: 20 Attacks: Leer, Peck, Focus Energy, Double Kick, Poison Sting, Fury Attack, Beat Up Abilities: Poison Point, Rivalry, Hustle
